  • I was there in NYC on 3/10/08. I had attended nearly all of those since '97 but this one was perhaps the best! We started at Cadman Plaza, crossed the B'klyn Bridge, went through Chinatown (lotta dirty looks from the locals!) and ended at Union Square, where Wei Jingsheng gave a talk. The spirit and energy was palpable as never before and the weather wasn't bad, either! Anyone remember that? I certainly will never forget. FREE TIBET!!!!!

  • It's totally absurd to say "free Tibet". How can you free a province from another country? The world would become a chaos if that's allowed. Say the US becomes 50 countries. Or India becomes numerous countries. Or even Japan can become 4 or 5 countries. O my god, can't imagine that. Every country has rights problems, but that's a different issue.

  • Quasar2008,I know exactly who you are, too easy to assume!Let's stop talking bullshit, because that's what you're doing.China has so many deep issues about human rights kept hidden, like everything in Mainland China.Tibet is a Nation,it has its own history, religion, culture,IDENTITY and China is putting 50 years effort to destroy it and...still they don't admit it! It's crazy, the Communists deny,deny,deny...if everything is so Fuc.ing perfect,an Eden, why don't they let us see what's going on???

  • @Bodrangzenitaly Human rights issue is human rights issue, do not confuse it with policy issue or independence issue. US has rights issue too. Every country has some rights issues. That's why we need to improve.

  • @quasar2008

There is a difference between actually uniting under one banner, and taking another nation by force. Tibet was taken in the 50's by force by China. I cannot recall a massive stream of refugees after the Declaration of Independence was signed...

  • @cheapshotdrummer There were refugees from China's southern province to Hongkong too. Those were caused by some of the wrong policies of the communist party, it has nothing to do with whether 'taken by force' or not. Should that province become independent as well?

  • @quasar2008 It depends on the way China gained the territory. I strongly believe that land, taken by force, should be independent, and especially Tibet, which, after all, was a fully functioning monarchy when the Chinese invaded! I'm not saying that refugees are an argument for independence, I'm saying that conquering nations and annexating it's lands is something that was appropriate in the last half of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century, but not befitting to the modern world.

  • sooyeon.very good, I'm so proud of your effort. and i want to free tibet.

  • aww look at old white people trying to look like they care, but in fact have nothing better to do.

  • I agree with you, white people who are involved just uses this excuse to put down China - their main objective is to put down all asians...

  • just because you got hated by white people doesn't mean all white people hate asians. they just hate you, for what you are. just accept it retard. and yea. FREE TIBET.

  • SHUT THE FUCK OFF lolaw19000 !

If you are a idiot who don't care about all this it does not mean that all people around the world are like u ! understood u moron !?

  • just because you got hated by white people doesn't mean all white people hate asians. they just hate you, for what you are. just accept it retard. and yea. FREE TIBET.

  • i never got hated by white folks lol The real reason is that Westerners are jealous of Chinese people because we're better looking than you guys, not hairy (compared to you) and we don't smell at all(compared to you). China was a superpower b4 any westerner was ^^

  • 5000 years of civilization and you guys are still a developing country. Starving people, no freedom, no education for the poor, bad water, bad pollution, brutal regime, etc... you can't even control your population. Please don't even talk about superpower, you guys are in the business world with the help from America, Japan, and UK. Remember Hong Kong and Macou was built by Japan and UK. you guys wouldn't be anything without them.

  • China was more advance than the west was in the past up until the 1700, when the Qing dynasty took over and passed a "isolation policy" that made China fall ever since. Before 1700, remember the Westerners coming to China and learning the campus, gun powder(source of making weapons and canons), paper, Silk, and so on. That was when China was a super power.

Hong Kong was a british colony, but the only thing hk benefit was capitalist rule of law. The real reason of hk's success is the Chinese.

  • a great example of british colony is the US. no explanation needed. and the U.S is only 400 years old compared to chinese 5000+. so i think the westerners are way more fast learners than chinese.

  • Hong Kong & Taiwan took only less than 100 years Singapore took only less than 40 years. Mainland China is a sleeping Giant remember lol The Mainland with 1.3 Billion people just awoke recently and is booming like crazy.. and it is predicted that China will be the economic giant in 2050 = about 50 years vs. 400 years... who is better ? What China is experiencing now is what the US experienced in the early 1900s.

  • Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore are all a sucess due to Chinse people who start up their own entrepreneur and become rich from there on. Look at Hk's top billionaires, they are all of Chinese origin.

If it's the british who are the main reason, why is it that other British colonies are not a sucess like HK or Singapore... ie Jamaica, Sri Lanka, English Guyana, and so on..

  • and all these top billionaires got their education in USA.

  • All of HK's top 3 billionaires ? no they didn't lol The Richest guy in HK & Asia is Li Ka Shing.. and he was not educated in the US. In Asia, Chinese are viewed as the Jews of Asia and we are hard working, brigt and good at business. As a result alot of people are jealous of us =/

  • We're also more smarter than you guys! Look at Japan, they almost took over the US in the early 90s.. now it's China's turn to make it permanent =D I'm sure many older generation Tibetans would agree life in Tibet is better now than compared to Tibetan during the Lama rule when Slavery(to the dalai lama) was the norm. When Chinese took back Tibet, slavery was abolished and millions of dollars was invested by the Chinese gov't into Tibet to increase the standard of living of tibetans.

  • I don't see any improvement from the so called slavery system for the past 50 years. only death, death, death. and its china's time to fall like the nazi's and soviets did, because just like them the chinese government is run by hate and fear.

  • Well what do you expect when the Tibetans have knifes and chains in their hands.. do you expect the Chinese police to ask them politely to put it down (which i doubt would happen) or do you expect the police to arrest them with weapons in their hands?

By the way, even though i (a Hong Konger) support the Kuomintang over the CCP, to form a United and Democratic China, China is still my mother country and anyone who insults china will have to deal with me and the 1.3 billion Chinese.

  • don't even think about it. China will fail like the Natzi's and Soviets. Hitler=Joseph Stalin=Hu Jintao. They all will fail. Mahatma Gandhi=Martin Luther King=Dalai Lama, they prevail. Hu Jintao and the Dalai Lama are work in progree. But we all know the conclusion. Non-violence prevails.

  • a country as big and strong economically & geographically as China, i doubt China will fall. But it's possible the Communist will slowly allow democracy and the Kuomintang would soon take back power =D

  • I would love to see the day China becomes a democracy. Just like Russia and Germany is right now after the communist rules. Mr. Hu Jintao tear down that wall.
