in all my 18 years, the classic country is what i have loved and still love. nothing can compare to the true talent shown in the older stuff. i love how it sounds just the same live as on a cd or tape or record. the new stuff dont sound like that not one bit!
There is another version of this on youtube with Red Sovine and one of the Willburn brothers assisting Webb, posted by janhammer39. Well worth checking out.
I lived in West Monroe several years ago in the area where Webb is from. His family still owns a lot of property down there. There is a road out there named after him. I thouht that was so cool
Im 25 and I looooooove this guy. my mother cant even get hip to it but I love it. What is it? I have some theories but anyone care to describe what makes him so great?
@wreard I'm 64 and have been a Webb fan sense, I was about 8 yrs old in 1954 when I first became aware of Webb's music. In answer to your question, I've been thinking back at what made me save my nickels and dimes ( my lunch money) and go to the 5 & 10 to buy a Webb Pierce record. I just know that every time I heard a new song by him, I just had to have it. Something in the way he delivers the song, his sincerity in his voice or emotion, it would just go through me. Hope that explain it.
When I was real young, dad bought a used car, I think off of a carlot. It was a Bucik, '48 if I remember what dad said. We lived in Texarkana. After he got it home, he found some papers in the glove compartment that showed it was Webb Pierce's car. I don't know if knowing that had anything to do with it, but I've always loved Webb's music.....
I had the pleasure of meeting Webb, in Wisconsin. The band I played with, backed him up at a concert in the 1960's. He was great guy and a wonderful talent!

Webb Pierce one of the greats of country. And no one does like song like Webb, not even the legendary Jimmie Rodgers who wrote this classic.
