My Mamod was like a mad dog. It would run like crazy till it flipped off the track. It was either to slow or too fast. Always burned the shit out of me. My cat jumped at it and burned he paws and tongue. Then one day the whole boiler blew-up. The back plate where the water indicator cracked open and hot water spashed on my wrist. I threw the little fucker out. NO MORE MAMOD FOR ME.
Those Mamod Loco's really are working bloody hard at the front! Nice to see that their being pushed. I try to push mine as much as possible but i only have 4 wagons which weigh next to nothing but i fill them with coal dust!
Great set up! I run a paper modelsing group at yahoo. Called Paper_Models. The link is on my channel.
This isnt an ad but an invitation to the group. We have all scale train models. If you dont want to build it in paper because your outside, you could always use them a a pattern for building in wood etc.
Have you had a look at some of the upgrade parts available? IP Engineering (there are others too) can sell you a meths burner, uprated safety valve, regulator etc that will give a Mamod a lot more power and control!
wow

Well apart from the black mss the mamods are original and most of the stock was from ebay on the cheap.

holy s**t how much did that cost???/
£1,000,000,000+?!?

I don't think I'd get away with a train that long. It would derail on the first curve it came to, even with an engine pushing on the back!

Flippin' eck, my Mamod will hardly haul 5 or 6 wagons!

I have got all of them (except uprated cylinders) as well as R/C! Hopefully, I'll strip her down and rebuild.
