  • nice!

  • my friends husband bought her tickets to the opening ceremony and she said it was amazing and that now she could see why Im so proud to be native and why I love pow wow music:)

  • this is amazing....

  • I love the First Nations! They have a beautiful culture! and plus i have a huge crush on Nathaniel Arcand as well. But this was amazing on the T.V

  • @ohayonasiakasan I know, hes cute hey? I met his cousin, world famous male hoop dancer Dallas Arcand, and hes very nice too:) he comes to my hometown almost every summer to perform for Peachfest and to share his love of hoopdancing:)

  • @lilwarriorprincess Really You met his cousion?! WOW! so cool! I would Love to meet him in person! Your Chanel looks good so i have subscribed to it! If you want you can add me as a friend! I want to meet his cousion too! I only heard about Nathanuel Arcand here in England while i was watching Murdoch Mysteries. I must admit they treated the First Nations and the Native Americans terribly back then.

  • This makes me incredibly proud to be a Canadian.

  • YAY!!! lol I'm so proud

  • Amazing. I remember watching this live, and it gave me goosebumps (in a good way) :) I'm really happy that the First Nations people were able to showcase their culture at the games. It was an amazing sight to behold.

  • This was awesome to watch. As a First Nations person it was awesome to see the indigenous youth pay tribute to our ancestors. Seeing all the different nations also shows the diversity of the Indigenous people of Canada. There are hundreds of tribes with different languages, different cultures (Northwest, Inuit, Prairies, and the East).

There are four tribes within the greater Vancouver/Whistler areas. The Musqueam, tsleilwatuth, squamish, lilwat.

Thank you for sharing this video.

  • whats the song called

  • The Hot stud giving the last welcome is Dennis Thomas of the Tseil'waututh Nation. He is a nice guy in real life as well. But also one HOT dude.

  • i love this soooo much....i pay soo much respect to the natives of all countries

this part brings you like one of the greatest feelings of happiness

  • Thank you for posting! This was my favorite part of the ceremonies. Canada was so respectful to salute its tribes.

  • could somebody plz tell me if this part and these particular viewpoints are in the dvd box set only or were these the angles offered live on CTV? And was brian williams speaking during the CTV opening ceremony live broadcast? Plz somebody tell me!

  • This was one of my favorite parts of the ceremony

  • lol Bahaha the 4 cheifs were late... somebody was running on Indian Time ehhhh just kiddin, :P

  • This is beautiful and a great testiment to the natives...... but i still fucking hate canada

  • That was very beautiful and very richly deserved - You see it hasn't ended and people of the world are good and true

  • Beautiful. Makes me proud. :)

  • at 7:13 the lady in the oranger and white regaila is my teacher

  • i love and respect the true first Nations Peoples of Canada and i truly wish for them to know true peace and freedom in this time and all the respect they deserve~

  • I don't know either, I am thinking that this a lypsync acting scenario madeup for our First Nation people altogether like the movies u know because I too don't know for sure what to expect from us...but one day we will stand together as a growing Nation from far and wide. In the meantime I eat jello to avoid being jello! And I stand tall and strong for our inherent rights as an Anishinabe woman born and raised to Metis/Cree/Ojibway parents! God I Love Canada:()

  • it's actually kinda embrassing. I didnt reconize any of those "host" tribes. What were they speaking? french? I still think metis is not an actual tribe. native woman were forced to marry some white men cos they knew the trails and such for the fur trade. it would of been better if they spoke ojibwe or cree. something legit. but overall i'm glad they did this even though it's embrassing. i'm ojibwe/lakota. so piss off if u think i'm white.

  • @breeherbs if your not from vancouver (or its area) we dont expect you to recognize the four host first nations (Lil'wat, Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh) because there population isnt as large as other nations.

also the language that they speak is Halkomelem but they probably speak diffrent dialects of Halkomelem.

  • @breeherbs Ojibwe and Cree are not the only First Nations languages in Canada. And Métis are not a tribe but one of the groups of peopleg that make up the Aboriginal peoples of Canada. And the reason you didn't recognize any of the host tribes is because you most likely never met a Coast Salish person. Your ignorance is brutal.

  • I'm a canadian and I think this is kind of ridiculous and a romanticized portrayal of Indigenous people. First Nations people are trying to step away from this mighty warrior stereotype, and then we go as country just spitting this portrayal back out to the rest of the world.

  • @clocks05 well its a lot better than showing what has happened to other Natives some only see it as getting advantages and don't even care about their culture anymore and I find it a miracle the canadian government found any Natives willing to do this be cause my family probably would have said "**** off" and beside all I see from this is a large Pow Wow lol

  • I wish I was there so bad, I would of been dancing my butt off. I love this how we as a native nation are showing or native spiritually this way I think we should all be Proud for who we are! Welalin Turtle Island <3

  • There is no nation called "First Nation" The arrogant Canadian came up with that and what they actually mean is "Host Nation". Because natives are hosting all these refugees from around the world. Some are occupying forces and some are homeless people this is what makes up Canada.

  • Mahsi-cho (BIG Thanks) for posting this, one of the most amazing opportunities of my life thus far...and I've been searching for a copy :p

  • I'm not Canadian and I'm not Native American, but this is so extremely powerful and influential

  • I have to say that I have a great dislike for the CTV feed of the Vancouver Opening Ceremony. CTV and NBC were granted to bring their own cameras into the stadium to shoot their own broadcasts of the whole show instead of using the VANOC Olympic Broadcasting System feed. VANOC's footage, which was seen by non-Canadians and non-Americans (such as on BBC in the UK and CCTV in China) was far superior than CTV/NBC to the point that it was like watching an entirely different (and better) show...

  • Dallas, is that you at 6:36?

  • native pride. Hoka!

  • Why do I want to cry watching this?

  • @anne241163 me too!

  • does anyone know where i can find the audio for the music?

  • Did they really dance even when the cameras weren't rolling? Seriously, if that's so, major props - you're made of sterner stuff than I. Awesome performance, wish I could have seen it in person!

  • I absolutely love Native Americans, they are amazing! And it's good to see that Canada respects them.

  • @Drowfan Canadians don't really respect natives. I am not a native and all I hear from whites is negative things about natives. A lot of these asian wanna bees don't even want to associat with natives. Fuck them all.

  • @TheWhiteBuster

Even though Native Americans evolved of Asians berfore crossing a land bridge long ago and have the same hair genetics. LoL

  • @SPS148669 Fucken Canadians trying to justify your occupation of native land. Fuck off it don't work. Natives are part and parcle of this land get the fuck out of there all foreigners.

  • @TheWhiteBuster

Yiu just admitted your not native etheir so your ethier Black or Asian so that means you have to go back to youe country too so you just stabbed your self in the foot.

  • Canada did a great job with its natives ... but I still digress to Salt Lake City - I personally think they did an awesome job with the native peeps ... and no artsy music for them ... just the true Native music ... me mean. :)

  • *woops like the aboriginal she is*

    Its a mega powow! XD

  • Ça s'est dérouler en quel année?

  • ur so right im native and canada is our home usa is NOT!!!!!!

  • @peyoteskye71 That really doesn't say much. We've done so much more harm to them then things like this make up for.

  • @stupidusername84 i totally agree, i am one of "them". try growing up on Pine Ridge

  • This welcoming ceremony and performance from the four first nations was incredibly powerful and amazing!! The aborginal culture is very interesting to me. I wish I was there for this.
