every time i hear this song and watch this video,i cry.it's rly touching to watch bod dylan having tears because of his separation with sara
it's seems strange that he would have married an ex-model...she looks so uptown and elegant in this video....and dylan seems more a low-key kind of person
wouldn't it be nice to have an interview with Sara....and hear what their life was like together.
@ohiodixiechick2 He slapped her and dislocated it, not broke it. He was completely trashed at the time, apparently, like he'd spent most of the past few years.
Sara to her lawyer: "I can't go home without fear for my safety...he has struck me in the face, injuring my jaw...my 5 children are greatly disturbed by my husband's behavior and his bizarre lifestyle."
i don't think dylan as being violent...was this a one time thing..or is the evidence he has hit others......if this was the only incident,,,,then there must have been other factors involved
@Kaleestraza Well that is completely sad! I guess Sara holds all the secrets. I've never heard of Dylan being violent either. Speaking of bizarre lifestyle I read one morning Sara came down the stairs & found Bob in the kitchen with the kids & another women he had brought home from the night before. A woman can only endure so much! It's too bad he didn't find Jesus & get clean before he lost his one true love.
@nikkiejanee1972 One of Dylan's kids said the records pretty much tell their story. Up to us to figure out which ones are about Sara & Bob? I really don't know if that is true, but I did hear the interview.
@ohiodixiechick2 Bob's the kind of poet who can professedly write 20 songs to 20 women and only truly address them all to one woman, not necessarily one of the 20.
thank you for posting favorite live version. Like to think they are enjoying their children and grandchildren together..in love forevermore..the ethereal goddess that fought for her hoodlum's soul in the night. It doesn't get much more romantic than that!
my friend Crystal and I would listen to this song. My name is Sarah. So you can twist and contort the song any way to make it meaningful to you. It's really a great song
There's a tear slowing running down Dylan's left cheek at 2:13 & 2:33...so sad I think I'm going to cry. Rumors were that Bob wore this painted face so the audience would not see his face when his emotions did get to him in songs like Sara, Isis, & etc. It was such an emotional time for him & in these songs he bleeds & we bleed listening to them!
@ohiodixiechick2 How is Isis an emotional song? Its about grave robbing isnt it? Its about grave robbing isnt it? And I thought the paint was a statement bout black folks who couldnt perform without painting their faces white back in the day. This sure is a heavy, deep song that could inspire emotions but i dont see how Isis could haha.
he really know how to pull you into his world...Sara was a beautiful woman! Dylan's got taste...she could pull you in as well... thank you for posting this footage , it's a gem
It's like Bob once said give or take "How can you like such pain?" But dammit I have had that heartache, I know that pain, and the fact I know this exists makes me no longer feel alone. Sure life is all about pain and love and joy and suffering. You just do your best. Never be another Bobby Zimmerman from Hibbing. Enjoy.
what was the purpose of the white paint on the face?

Such a beautiful, elegant woman... He very seriously screwed up to lose that one.
Wow, that would hurt.

It seems to me that the "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands" and "Sara" are the best love songs-poems ever written!! This Sara lady was very lucky!!! :))

@ohiodixiechick2 yes, pain can be beautiful, but most of us would gladly trade some of that "beauty" for some ugly "happiness".

@amysita77 Dylan may be perspiring making the paint wet, but there is a video on here where you can actually see the tear on Dylan's face.
