I love this song! But, I think Hallelujah works better. I think the beginning part works well, like with the soft guitar but when it goes to the flashback of Marissa, Hallelujah was perfect. Also because Hallelujah is kind of a classic song for the show and I don't really think the lyrics work for this? AND, the electric guitar part for the flashback didn't really work... because, this is a really sad scene, so it wasn't really appropriate. I really like how it goes with the beginning though!

Josh Schwartz asked her if she'd be okay with being killed off, and, I mean what could she do? throw a tantrum? she had to be professional. I think when the producers killed Marissa they killed the show.

this scene is really emotional one...but i still can't believe that they killed marissa! Everything started with Ryan and ended with Marissas death...The O.c was a drama series and Marissa was the most dramatic character in this show and she was funny, smart, interesting, kind, with some drinking problems but still AWESOME!!!

I just thought I would let all of you know that Hallelujah (Imogen Heaps cover of it) was used because of the central meaning behind it that is used periodically throughout the show. The second episode (the Model home) from the first season it is used when Ryan tells her to leave (first goodbye). End of season 1 when Ryan leaves with Theresa (second goodbye). Then when she dies (her goodbye). There's a central meaning to it. Using something else wouldn't have worked out as powerful as this song.

and although into dust would have been good, using an eerier version of halleujah worked, cos in series 1 "the model home" when ryan was playing the jeff buckley version, marissa walked in and said "this song reminds me of you"

I still prefer the original version - it's much quieter (only vocals) and represents perfectly the emptiness that death brings. I guess that this version of yours ruins it a bit 'cause of the guitars and drums - it losos the entire sense of softness and stilness of the moment.

The original song goes so much better telling about the relationship of ryan and marissa over the last few years.Just listen to the first few lines:"Baby I've been here before"(Ryan has been in that situation before where he had to carry Marissa)and the line of the song that I thought related to Ryan and Marissa the most was:"I used to live alone before I knew you"(You can probrably think of how that relates to ryan and marissa in your own way)
