  • This is from 1992 right? I wonder how they are doing now, if they are alive.

  • Our brain is absolutly fascinating

  • the only cases they present have sexual abuse included, that can mislead people into thinking that if they have not been sexually abused, their Multiple Personality disorder is fake.

  • If that was me I would run to God, get saved and baptized and have the church lay hands on me. I would be so scared and very desperate to get to the bottom of it and I am already a Christian so I would run to a church and see if prayer of a church could help. Some may turn to doctors but I would turn to a Holy man of God to help me. I would be thinking I was possessed by something evil.

  • god you can see the difference between the "my self" personality and Gretchen its so different. not just the way she talks but she sits different she keeps eye contact shes so different.

  • its easy to say that these people are simply fakeing but only because it doesnt seem real. i know it is, no one would lie, or fake this

  • i have 2 different personality's, but i have learned to accept it. I also have 3 friends that have this disorder too so i don't feel weird, they have helped me learn to accept my personality's

  • I feel sorry for these people, and when "Aundea" said they burned the kitty, I had a tear appear.

  • This has just saddened me to the core :( 34, a half of a life. My god.

  • I probably have something like this. How do you treat it?

  • My mom told me I have a split personality. I didn't believe her until I woke up in a hospital, not remembering anything. My mom decided it was time to hook up some cameras in my house. I apparently tried to commit suicide. The other me is depressing and suicidal and hates life, this so called person called Arisa. I have to live with this everyday, not knowing when this other person is gonna take over. Don't say this isn't a real thing, because I know that I'm not just Gina anymore, I'm another.

  • i'm not saying that there aren't some people who would fake this for attention but my heart definately goes out to people who genuinely suffer from this!

  • At first I thought I had MPD, but then I realized that I just have mixed emotions, and short term memory loss. To be honset, I have no idea wtf happened in this video..

  • Sounds like all that stuff I have been hearing about Trauma based mind control.

  • If this is in the DSM, why isn't Demonic Possession?

  • @JohnJCapehart That's a great question.

  • I have so many scars of burns on my body that was burnt into my flesh. That sometimes, I feel that the LEFT side of my body is like "connect the scars". Then, two of my alters poured Lime Away in my eyes! I have a little bit of more communication amoungst The Community. However, not much!

  • Today it is called D.I.D. Dissociative Identity Disorder and is recognized by the DSM IV

  • Comment removed

  • When I was in the Marine Corps I was a very good shooter. Multiple alters combined together would do the shooting. One would handle the magazines, another would ready the weapon, another would take aim, another would fire, etc. In the military they refer MPDs as being "secret weapons to be used in times of war and during times of peace we are filed away" and forgotten. Anyone DID who reads this, please take this advice of mine. Don't enlist! The military is full of heartless Socio/psychopaths.

  • I have DID. I was inflicted during infancy. I remember the time as a kid when I had my first fights with an alter while dissociating. I would punch myself. How I overcame this problem was by submitting to the alter who I was fighting with. I told him that I was sorry and in time he responded back saying that he was sorry. That was the beginning of the cure. Afterwards when one of us got out of line we would tell the other about it. We mediated in words. In time we became inseparable friends.

  • @Mardasee That actually... sounds kinda fun...

    ...But isn't not, huh? OTL

  • @akito989 The fighting is not fun. But the bonding relationship that occurs after making friends is priceless.

  • @Mardasee At least you have a 'friend' that sounds like he/she's going to stay forever...? :o Or at least you're not dying 'alone'.

Are you gonna go for treatment? :o

  • @akito989 I'm undergoing long term self treatment. I was severely fragmented to a degree that medical treatment was too risky. Brain convulsions (seizures) were so severe body vitals would malfunction and so treatment became potentially lethal. I overcame this obstacle though in 1991 but it almost killed me. I have PTSD now which first occurred in 1982 and I will have it for the rest of my life. Memory recalling, Dissociative Dreams, dizzyness, vertigo and etc are constant even to this day.

  • @Mardasee Continued: Might as well tell you what caused this infliction. My father's side is German. During WWll my German side helped the allies in defeating the nazis. At the end of the war nazis retaliated against my german family side. Not only did these psychopaths retaliate against their targets but they also harmed our entire families. The Roman Catholic Church was also involved believe it or not. Approximately 3/4s of my german side was either murdered or maimed. I survived.

  • Over-representation of some condition that Americans assume that only they get and yes, Americans are religious. Even if it a condition proved to be true and valid (which is not as of now and is still under studies) .. how is that f***** related to Christianity? One more punishment by 'Gad'.

  • @malihapraveen If that's a comment about what I said. We were discussing the use for belief in treatment of the condition and if your attitude is so unpleasant maybe you can type 'atheist' and share it in all the other unpleasant discussions. Being of obvious low intelligence doesn't excuse that kind grammar nor does typing yet another atheistic comment automatically grant you the social prestige you crave since you didn't read or understand what anyone was saying.

  • @taxiride1 Are ye commenting on me English and grammar? (silly trick by humans) I stated an obvious fact - most of 'em Americans live on medication and junk food. I have known and have really good friends from America who are intelligent and actually admit their country is gettin' low with people fed by religions and lost the capacity to think for themselves. 1 in 4 Americans believe Sun revolves around Earth, there is a website by Americans - earth is flat. Need I say more?

  • @taxiride1 I don't remember saying I am an atheist, by the way.

  • @taxiride1 I was being particular to someone's comment about Paul spreading awareness of DID. lol

  • I found this Video FASCINATING.... even though, I've been diagnosed with the same disorder!

  • @kentrob61 Have you really?

  • Demons

  • Jesus can heal any personality disorder. :-) All you have to do is call out to him and believe on his name. I was delivered from Schizophrenia. I know thats a little different from a multiple personality disorder but I am living proof he is a healer. :-)

  • @OneGodApostolic28 that is the worst advice, your mind conqured

  • @postmoderngrl You are wrong. It's always good advice. From an Atheist point of view there is scientific evidence to suggest we have evolved capacity in the brain to believe (whether as understanding or falsehood) in a creator to cope with anxiety. From the Christian point of view Jesus, and faith in him, can intercede and give you strength even if the strength is used to face reality.

  • @taxiride1 The Apostle Paul said to the Romans: The Good I want to do I do not do it. And, the bad that I don't want to do THIS I DO."! From the get go people were discovering that there's at least 2 aspects to one person. Why, is it so hard for people to accept that a person's core can split, or even shatter when abuse and trauma is experienced???

  • @kentrob61 It isn't hard to accept. But there is a problem, as shown in the video, that one or more of these alternative personalities can be belligerent and intent on harm. Everyone considers suicide (even if they're only joking) but if that consideration manifests in a separate personality that controls the body, in absence of the natural singular personality, then a simple urge or thought that is normally dismissed could actually control.

  • @OneGodApostolic28 Funny, I was beaten with a stick on the playground until I said I loved Jesus, then Jesus saved me from being beaten with a stick.

What was helpful to you isnt going to be helpful to everyone, a Muslim and a Hindu find just as much help by going to their respective places of worship for guidance. I don't think God has that much to with it as the love of those around you sharing your faith, or the faith that someone out there loves you. Love may be more powerful then religion.

  • @OneGodApostolic28 Oh sure, praying will pull you back together and you will finally accept you were abused... Sure. /sarcasm. Also, Schizophrenia is not cured, it's treated.

  • God can, will, and did heal me. I was suicidal, depressed, heard voices and have seen things that noone else saw. I have been abused as a child and suffered the loss of one of my children. The only thing that brought me out was the fact of knowing that there is a creator and he helped me through it. God wasn't just someone I was told about but he revealed himself to me. I went to an apostolic/pentecostal church and he filled me with his spirit.

  • If you dont believe he is real then I challenge you to go to an apostolic church and find out for yourself. If your not willing then your argument does not matter. I man with an argument is no match for a man with an experience. :-)

  • @OneGodApostolic28 I'm a believer. Always be on your guard with others. The real church is within yourself remember.

  • I WISH I COULD DO SOMTHING FOR THOSE IN NEED!! I HOPE THEY GET WELL

  • This was almost 1 hour? I barely noticed. This is S-A-D. My prayers go out to you.

  • i tought it was fake aswell until i thought about this what is a personality what is the me or myself how does it evolve and the conditions why it exists, what if something happend to me that made it impossible for me to go on at young age when my persoality was developing and i created dif personalitys to deal with it dont we all have diff perso. how many times did people change during their lifes and in teen years you are this and then that and you sometimes seem like you dont know what u are

  • my theory is that lonliness makes you create alter egos within yourself, to fight lonliness, these people may have taken it to the next level and given them identities to further seperate them from the original. i speak from personal experience and i catch myself saying things in my head like "we didn't need this to happen" and i carry dialogues in my head, i know this is not normal but its how i function, but not as bad as these people

  • @roush26 There are more people that do this than we think. Talking to yourself use to be a sign of insanity. now its no big deal. If you think of turms like ' there is a different side to her than meets the eye'. 'if there not careful they will see another side of me'. Furthermore there is a new generation of avatar type games that affords us acceptable long term escapism. Its the sadistic, child like, self mutilating personalities that create outrage and disfuction in a person.

  • does the source of Multiple Personalities has to include sexual abuse or otherwise is impossible?

  • @drcanoro No it can be physical abuse, or other torture. It does not have to be sexual abuse.

  • man this doc just gets heavier and heavier as it develops.

  • Can this be cured? Probably can be.

  • @jamesarongray Just my view from what I'v seen. yes I believe it can. It take long term support to help the person to accept the cause of the splitting of personers. My question is does the problem persona's become less controllable the there are inside one body. Also the more rebelious the persona. For example the non conformist teenage boy or the suisidal (i will kill the body before you do) 20 year old?

  • @jamesarongray It is a long process. Not everybody wants their others to integrate.

  • I have been aware that I have multiple personality disorder for the past 5 years. Please don't judge the people on this video. You don't know what others have gone though in life, I have 6 females and 2 males. I'm trying to get healing just like the people here. It is had to appear normal in life.

    msmultipleme

  • is memory loss ALWAYS a part of personality disorders. Can't you be pulled in,deprived of control, but still see and remember what the others are doing?

  • @PoMircheva yaa its one of the symptoms

  • @PoMircheva No memory loss is not always apart of it. Some have full awareness of what the others are doing.

  • @iraqidolphin hm..thank you

  • Oh wow Barb/Meg's child voice is so real u kno this CAN'T be fake. I feel so sorry for her

  • that would be humiliating if people really made all this up.

  • Just finished watching this. This documentary was fascinating! However, my heart goes out to all who have been sexually abused as children and now are suffering from MPD. I cannot imagine that there are monsters out there who abuse poor innocent children. The last patient in the documentary really broke my heart. How can a father prostitute her own child? How can he let grown men have sex with her when she was only 7? people like him should be tortured to death.

  • how can all the other personality know how to do the art :/

  • holy crap, the woman's dad who lit a kitten on fire i feel really bad for.

  • the show "United States of Tara" is definitely based on this.

  • I have been diagnosed with a personality disorder but this poor lady must be so emotionally scarred through something and i think that somebody should be with her when she gets into these awful situations so that shes safe. I feel for her as im an emotional mess and i change moods so quickly and get depressed but this poor woman changes to another complete person and doesnt remember , my heart goes out to her

  • I felt really sorry for the first girl because I've been through that kind of memory recall and it's sooooo painfully hard. As to whether people "make this up" Well it's their inside reality! Just because it doesn't match your outside reality does not make it false.

  • whoever says this isnt real or making fun of it, please dont even bother to watch this or comment. thank you. it doesnt make it easier for people who suffer and struggle with this disease on a daily basis.

  • I'm so glad I found this! I'm doing a project on DID for my Psych. class.

I believe it's 100% real. The way it manifests makes sense to me, really.

  • @xPinkxIsxPunkx Thank you for your support.

  • as someone that has DID I am offended by so many of these comments if you only lived and had to go through what I do on a daily basis you wouldn't say these things. this disorder is in the manual doctors use to diagnosis other psychological disorders (can't remember the name) that means there is documentation, studies and all kinds of "proof" DID exists. It is so hard to live this way, I would give anything for things to me different I have cerebral palsy too, it is a hard life to live

  • I have MPD...I wish I could get therapy for it...This seems very beneficial to Gretchen. Bless her, I hope shes doing better.

  • To Jayden0666 While I am not an expert in this field, From multiple class on abnormal pysychology with experts and research I have found out that the Medical Field is split on whether or not this is real, its almost of 50/50 split now many doctors call it Factitoius Disorder because there is not alot of information about DID and I am on the side of calling it Factitious disorder as from personal experience and videos like this it looks like they doing it to assume the sick person role.

  • cant believe that crazy mother fucker is a COP!!! wtf lol

  • WOW that was a real eye opener. I have never really known much about this disorder. After the abuse I endured as a child, I'm shocked I didn't end up with DID! My heart and prayers go out to all of those who have suffered at the hands of abusive, miserable, evil people!

  • @FireFytingNut The problem is labelliing people makes them worse.

  • There's something about that male psychiatrist that doesn't sit right with me.

  • @harleyfiona This documentary is extremely insightful though, I appreciate you posting it. I can't possibly fathom what life like this must be like.

  • I love how people are commenting on this saying that these people are just making it up and it's not real.

Ummm excuse me but are you a docotor? No

Are you an expert in this problem? No

So stop fucking acting like you know it all!

  • @JaYdEn0666 I dont think they are making it up, I think they believe what is happening to them, but I do believe that they are the way they are due to suggestion from a doctor. If a doctor tells you u may have a disease, you then act out, almost subconsiously. I believe suggestion plays a big part in all of this. Im not saying these people would be fine without diagnosis, but I am saying that diagnosis can make their symptoms worse.

Suggestion is almost as powerful as reality, like a placebo

  • @Jairzinho121 Iatrogenic/Iatrogenesis is the term you're looking for here, and it's true, it's believed that a lot of multiple personality/dissociative identity disorders are caused by this. I don't know if the cases in this video are true or not but they're the cases our prof gave us to study for abnormal psychology so I guess they were the best or most easily accessible examples found.

  • @NyanHasami Thanks for letting me know, very interesting. That term means a disease created by doctors, I just looked it up.

More work needs to be done on this, because media and Government never tell u the truth. Diseases like Tourettes may also be latrogenic. Latrogenic conditions are very intriguing because it opens us up to how much is created by suggestion. If this condition has been proven to be true like u say, it does make u question a lot of things.

  • @JaYdEn0666 While I am not an expert in this field, From multiple class on abnormal pysychology with experts and research I have found out that the Medical Field is split on whether or not this is real, its almost of 50/50 split now many doctors call it Factitoius Disorder because there is not alot of information about DID and I am on the side of calling it Factitious disorder as from personal experience and videos like this it looks like they doing it to assume the sick person role.

  • @JaYdEn0666 agreed. MPD is a medical disorder and its real. However, there are many psychologists and psychiatrists who still believe that this is only a theory. I have recently taken a psychology course at my university and MPD takes a huge part in my psych textbook. If MPD "wasn't" a real disorder then why would it be taught to psychology students?

  • @JaYdEn0666 I whole-

    heartedly agree!!!!!

  • i work at a police station adn i know this fin was made in 1993 but did they have to take mental and psychological test like they do now?

  • @MsSouthernbelle1985 I don't think there is a definite test for measuring if a person has DID. The assessment would be based on a few observations and various questionnaires etc.

  • My mother has it, when she has certain perosnality's taking over she goes into a phsychosis. Yesterday i had to call the police and an ambulance since me and my dad couldn't restrain her.

    She was very agressive.

  • viviane5572, u can't recover from repressed trauma but just trying to get on w/ur life. U suffer every day. Thats why the go get help in the first place.

  • i don't know why anyone would think this is funny. this poor girl's life is a living hell.

  • i have singular personality disorder

  • I know it was said that different personalities appear while the police officer is at work but does that include the child like personality?

  • Pretty fascinating!

  • " I dont get a fucking thing to say" --- "last time when you were breaking stuff ....." hahaha

  • no jokes, realliety

  • would an 8 yr old really use the words "up in arms"...

  • @EveryMomentHasMusic

    Sometimes... yeah.

  • Oh man, I'm a psych major and watched this out of interest and I do feel sympathetic but when the narrator is talking about how barbara found herself in different states and then goes and one time EVEN CANADA like its the worst thing in the world I lost it lol

  • Does anyone know what happened to the cases here, or whether or not a 'what happened next' exists. . . Would be Very Helpful to find out the results.

  • south park dr jannet

  • Thumbs up if southpark brought you here... BTW I'm not making fun of this disorder , sorry.

  • they made fun of this on southpark just saying

  • @2000masquerade

    WHEN??

  • @mattthwhill the city sushi episode in season 15

  • Unlike the first girl...I feel honoured to be told I am a "freak" but the way I see it: I'm not exactly all that different from everyone else in the world,I have have the same physical structure...two eyes, nose, ears, toes, fingers etc...but I think everyone should watch these things more often just so they know that

  • Those who seek help and treatment do so because they know there is someone inside who will hurt the body or even kill it. Remembering the abuser and the abuse is KEY so that you have a way to stop them from hurting the body.

  • WHAT DO THIS PEOPLE DESERVE, I CANNOT TAKE IT WITHOUT BEEING EVIL!

  • This video makes me remenber when psychiatrists used to torture pacients with their methods of cure and were respected by people, oh wait, is that what I'm watching? she got sick by suffering, but at the treatment SHE HAS TO remenber the suffering, I'd agree if it could cure her, but I have NEVER heard of cure for her problem, so what the fuck are them doing. Yeah I said what the fuck! and Im not missing anything! Torture still beeing accepted IS ANYONE SEEING IT?

  • @viviane5572 I don't think they mean to torture her and I really don't think that was torture..but she said it herself she wants to know what's been done to her so she can accept it and move on. She didn't want to be kept in the dark all her life and not know the cause of these different personalities she's now stuck with. And you're right remembering something like that doesn't exactly cure it but it makes it easier to accept so that she can move on and put it behind her.

  • How many times do they make she suffer??? like once in a week? I'm not a professional and I'm not wrong... sessions and sessions of suffering.... Now I have a question, isn't there a BETTER way to help her? or is she going with a cronic disease till death having suffering sessions, if that's so, is it called treatment?

  • It makes me wonder "around inside a topic", HOW can someone b so motherfucker 2 cause someone else SUCH a PAIN? I'm asking you, for who's reading it, what is the best jugdment? what would be fair when such a crap is done? the devils are the minds of evil people, and it should also be called by disease by scientific comunity!

  • I remember the first time I saw this program-very much a reference into the diagnosis.. Anybody get an update on the subjects? Been nearly 20 years..Being part of the L.E. profession kinda makes wonder???

  • YO i just heard the whole hollywood has this disorder!!! see for yourself, and they PROFIT OFF IT OH MY GOD

  • so sad ...

  • ENIGMA! WE SHALL ALWAYS REMAIN! lol

  • If we can have 2 or more personalities and each one does not know the existence of the other, how is all this data stored in the one brain? Do they use 90-100% of their brains (unlike normal humans) to store each personality as separate memories. How is the blockage of memory maintained? Does the brain split in half or in quarters. Each half or quadrant has it's own brain? This whole thing seems like BS, but I try to give science the benefit of the doubt. This seems more like alcoholic black ou

  • what a brilliant upload, how the brain and mind try to survive such traumas, abusers need death penialty for pain the cause not jail sentences

  • Sorry for flagging "spam" on these insensitive comments (mainly one person here), but really, can't you be any more sensitive? Why not -think- before you comment on here? I'm watching this because I never learnt this in psychology, but badly wanted to, because I want to understand these people- how do they function daily in their lives. It must be hard for them, the amount of stress they have to cope with daily.

  • or a dog with multible personality disorder, he is a normal dog, his other persona has him act like a cat, and his other is a bird

  • thats not a 10 year old, its a retarded 10 year old, my brother is 12 now but when he was 10 he talked normal and could read

  • @Teeheehee093 u r amazingly callous

  • @michaelrose93 it is. jokes make people smile! with no jokes then it's a sad world

  • @Teeheehee093 Well it doesn't seem that many people here found your "joke" very funny. Are you actually 28? I could forgive your comments if you removed the '2', but you are seriously immature for someone your age. I know what would be funny, maybe if the preacher laughs at your parents funerals, or if the doctor laughs when he tells you you have terminal cancer. Fun stuff huh?

    Grow up Johnny, please.

  • @Teeheehee093 go suck some yourself dickhead

  • @Teeheehee093 go suck some yourself dickhead

  • I cannot imagine what its like to have to learn to deal with this, to have a child, or be a child and have to accept and tolerate another person within one of your parents, it would be so confusing.

  • This was very interesting to watch, great post. It's sad what some poor kids can be put through and it is no wonder some of them turn out this way =(

  • Thank you so much for uploading this. Beautiful film highlighting how awful this condition truly is.

  • 1: Holly Crap O.0

2: The case of the cop reminds me a movie of jim carrey

3: i have two diffrent personalitys too, the first when I want to borrow money from a friend " comme on dude..its just a 5boxes..the 2ed when the guy want his money comback..." who are you?!! what...money? where?! " and that cool!
