i'm a percussionist and i love this play, and you play good, but you should practise more, because you have some errors in the play! keep it up and good luck!
I really enjoy the sound from the marimba with softer mallets. But it also varies on type of Bars you have on the marimba. But I think it might sound a bit nicer without the sound of the mallet striking the bar. But all in all great job!
Nice, it's pretty. But, Simple. You're a late starter, So kudos to that. I suggust you find more complicated pieces and challenge yourself. And those are nice mallets, but they don't look like yarn?

That was entertaining. I won't say it was amazing, because it was not. If you feel that this was great for your level, then you should be happy with it. I learned marimba much quicker than you, but I've also been playing music since I was a few years old. Everyone learns at their own pace, so don't get discouraged and never give up.
Yes, I'm a late starter. I know I have some limitation. I read music scores since only 2 years ago. I don't have much chance for practising compared with youngsters. But I was pretty happy with this performance. At least, I didn't have to focus where the next notes to play. I tried to put my concentration in the mood of the music.
Thank you for your encouragement. Some day I could play like a Pro. Who knows?
Good job! It's great that you are learning marimba. The only comment I would have is your mallet choice, since they seemed a little too hard for the piece. I would recommend looking at the Innovative Percussion series of mallets, since they hold up well (depending on which you get), and sound great. For this piece, probably a medium to medium-hard pair of mallets would sound wonderful! Well played though, keep working at learning marimba!
Thanks for your comments. I did try softer mallets but the piano would be too loud and cover my sound. So, finally I chose a slightly harder mallets to produce larger sound.
Decent percussion accessories are very difficult to find in HK. We only have "playwood" and "yamaha" mallets in Tomlee. :-(
Ah, ok. I understand. One thing you could try if you want is a pair of hard legato mallets, for a smoother sound. These, unfortunately, unravel quicker than most mallets, so while they would sound great, they wouldn't last too long =(.

best performance???

Yes, MY best performance because I'm a beginner. Of course it's not good enough comparing with other skilled performers.
