actually the msrp is 13,800 but they get them for lower than that. you can talk them down a grand or so i got mine for 12,800 with nothing but the quick shift. i couldnt find one without all the crap on it anywhere so i had to order it without it.
I read a few articles on this bike. they all said that bmw has put so much time and money into this bike and are showing up a little late to the party. so they are pricing this bike just a little more than the japanese 1000s in hopes to storm the market. I think its working because i was looking to get an r1, now have an r6, and i now plan on this being my next bike!
My friend just bought one of these. US$26,000 with full options. Standard goes for about US$21,000. Where is this? South Korea. Might wait until next year and try to get a used one. Love this bike, even if it is ugly. Lol.
I hope the price will stay the same for 2011 . It might be much harder to sell the bike for ~20k in the future. Now the price is very competetive , slightly higher than japanese RR's . Good for us :) .
@Lackaffenbelustiger In Finland it does if you want to drive it on the streets, we have high taxes in everything, in motorycles and fuel. I bought my S1000RR for the track only so i pay 21000$+ that price contains tax 22%, USA seems to have no taxes at all. Estonia too, when I visited there i saw much better cars than in Finland, S-class Mercedes and 7 series BMW were common there. It sucks to live in Finland.
I agree... cool sound, great bike, but :-( did anyone see the beam (front lights)? I think that the engeneers shoud be better, ie: CBR1000rr ou "Suzy" 1000. Anyway, gooood bike.
great sound, fantastic looking bike. finaly i can pronounce the name bmw in the super bike world. finaly they get it now how a super bike should look sound and perform like.
i'm happy for bmw. i hope they're competitive but they've got their hands full. ducati's a monster (no pun intended), yamaha's a beast, and honda and suzuki are always dangerous.
He's being pretty conservative given that there's way slower bikes with (probably) more inexperienced drivers on the course. You can tell he's not really pushing that thing
I guess there'll be no chance for BMW to attack the Aprilia, Ducati and not at all the new Yamaha. But a Honda here and a Suzuki there should be possible. For sure they'll be faster than the Kawasaki. But as said it's BMW and they could be competitive very fast (also they are not brand new to motocycles at all).
I hope they do do well, but i think it'll be a pretty tall order for them, since it is new territory for bmw, they havent done a properly focused sports bike before, whereas the other teams have loads of experience.
dude, these people in this video ride really slow. So comparing it to them is stupid. Even the guy supposedly tiding a BMW S1000R is not very consistent and could do a lot better. He brakes early and is all over the place.
yea of course they ride very slow but bmw they are masters of speed and handling just look on the F1 car they dont have to much experience on formuala 1 and in 2008 they make one on one with ferrari and mclaren
I can't see BMW spending all that money and putting their brand name to a bike that's not in with a chance. And Corser must have known something when he left Yamaha. He wouldn't have left to join losers.

I am thoroughly impressed. Debut event in world superbike and they pull off 8th place, that isn't too shabby at all.

Sounds slow on the straights. Also seems like it has a pretty narrow powerband from the way he's riding it.

And also what could be a better rider for a brand new team than Troy Corser? I count on BMW from 2010 on.
