  • Christians don't even know the Messiah's real name or the Father's, and they do put Paul's words above the Father's even, given that they completely take Paul's writings out of culture, language and context to form a completely different mutant religion, mixed with paganism and YES, mithraism, it isn't a "copycat" but there are definitely elements of mithraism in it, hence sun-day worship. Christianity is a religion ABOUT the Messiah, but it definitely isn't the religion OF the Messiah

  • Interesting video, and does anyone know the name of the song in this video? Its really catchy!

  • guess what most "scholars" know: Nothing but what they want you and were taught to know. Haaaa! Bingo you arequite right to say christianity doesnt follow mithraism as close; as close as Egyptian religion. In fact, in the NT it states the Messiah was killed in Egypt. Revelation also is forged to state that the Amen (of Egypt) speaks to the church. This is the Egyptian God. Silam 81 is right with the fact that the Messiah is Jewish. They were All Jews. Follow your god paul in your christianity.

  • The Lord was crucified in Jerusalem not Egypt.

Luke 23:1 And the whole multitude of them rising up, led him to Pilate. 2 And they began to accuse him, saying: We have found this man perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he is Christ the king. 3 And Pilate asked him, saying: Art thou the king of the Jews? But he answering, said: Thou sayest it. 4 And Pilate said to the chief priests and to the multitudes: I find no cause in this man.

  • Luke 23:5 But they were more earnest, saying: He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place. 6 But Pilate hearing Galilee, asked if the man were of Galilee? 7 And when he understood that he was of Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him away to Herod, who was also himself at [Jerusalem,] in those days.

  • Obviously you do not know what you are talking regarding the Christian scripture since you do not know where Christ was crucified and think Paul is some kind of god.

  • so where do you site your sources for the information presented? hopefully not from the flawed scholars you speak of. so perhaps not much was taken from mithraism, although christmas and easter have interesting beginnings. but what about the parallels between krshna and jesus? is it anything but coincidental how close several of the teachings are word for word? and the claim of islam is partly right, but muhammad refuted the catholic church in their veneration of jesus (the man) and mary

  • This isn't some new brilliant gotcha and was addressed by the early Christian church fathers years ago. Read Tertullian AD 160 - The Chaplet, or De Corona Chapter XV & The Prescription Against Heretics Chapter XL. Justin Martyr, I Apol. LXVI.—Of the Eucharist and Dialogue with Trypho Chapter LXXVIII. Even they saw the parallels that people were already trying to use to cause confusion.

  • The Judeo-Christian beliefs about Jesus Christ are completely different that what other religions may believe about Christ. The Old and the New Testaments both give testimony of Christ. No other religion can claim the same, even if they give mention of Christ. All religions have rituals of some sort, even satanism today mocks the mass, does that make their perverse mockery truth? There are parallels and similarities throughout history, so what?

  • Hindu Krishna can be found in Buddhism - Jainism - Islam - Bahá'í - I think even Zoroastrianism. They see Krishna different ways. But, Krishna can not be found within Judeo-Christian roots, neither the Jewish people nor the early Christians spoke of Krishna, they give no testimony of such a person. The birth, life, death, and resurrection of Christ can be found in the New Testament and prophecy of those events are found in the Old Testament.

  • "and the claim of islam is partly right, but muhammad refuted the catholic church in their veneration of jesus (the man) and mary."

Islam is not right about anything regarding Christianity. They do not believe Jesus is God, and think he was just a prophet and they think the Virgin Mary is the third part of the Trinity.

  • God did not give the world the Messiah Jesus Christ and a New Covenant then 600 years after Christ, decide to send Muhammad, to preach His son was just a prophet and give commandments that are counter to Christ teaching.

  • There's only one problem with the paralllels.

Jesus was Jewish, and there are constant references to Moses, Abraham, Solomon, king David, and Israel all over the new testament. Jewish-written books on the subject available by the truckloads, ie Geza Vermes, Martin Buber, and Roy Schoeman.

IMO I would not expect a scholar who hates Christian religion or customs to give me accurate info about them.

Even a flawed scholar has to be honest sometime.

  • Silam was your post addressed to me?

  • Sorry, Bingolly1. It was addressed to oldschoolwrestling. My intent was to note sources writing about Jesus having been Jewish.

  • I wanted to say I agree with you on all counts. One of my favorite quotes is from John Henry Newman he says, "The New Testament lies hidden in the Old. The Old Testament is revealed in the New." Critics do not realize how much of the Old gives testimony of Christ and he gives testimony of the Patriarchs, there is a natural flow to it all. The claim that Christianity has pagan parallels is really a poor one. God bless you in the New Year.

  • This repsonse is equally flawed. Example: a scholar called Gordon? This is a comical citation to support an assertion? Also clarify what you mean by a good scholar; is that one who produces evidence that supports your argument while those that don't are bad scholars. This is why religious types should leave research to the academics and the scientists.

  • Your comment is equally flawed because you offer nothing yourself other than your opinion. If you do not want to believe it that is your choice. If academics did the proper research then times like this would not exist. Trouble is that many have their own agenda and that does not always include truth. Thanks

  • This is the difference between an article of faith and the presentation of evidence to support an assertion. It's the reason why our society has progressed; it's how we develop new treatments for illness and new ideas for the advancement of mankind. You are the one posting a video on a public site claiming to have evidence against the Mithra claim yet the evidence presented would be laughed at by an eight year old. I'm not for or against either position but only ask for facts.

  • Again you are giving your opinion. So I guess I will let it stand as it is. Thanks

  • Seeing you do not tell your religious affiliation on your profile page I will ask. What is your religious affiliation and please do not say a Bible believing Christian.

  • I'm not religious as I have studied the tenents of the main monotheistic faiths and have looked into others. I am not convinced that there is any truth in any faith. All religion is made by man to serve him. There is no proof that there is a God and the only way we'll ever find out is when we die.

  • They are no better than the 'religious types' you mentioned. They cite their preferred scholars that support their arguments also. Any thing that would contradict them is ordered stricken from the record. Like court judges who tells a jury what evidence they're not allowed to consider.

Christian scholars have read and cited works by atheists, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, and Hindus. I've read about Mencius, Lao-tzu, Darwin, Nietzche. Academic enough?

  • Your welcome and God bless You

  • Well done Bingolly,

I have been in a fierce debate with an islamist "beleiveringod" and my point was if we are mithras, then islamists are indeed mithras as well! That was the last I heard of him!because of the jesus connection.

Well done, can I copy this and post on my page????

  • Yes you can and thanks for the comment. I do not think they realize that at the same time they call Christinas pagan they are condemning themselves. God Bless

  • The Islamic faith will try everthing to discredit christianity!

  • Even if it means doing poor research when solid research is available. God Bless You

  • Outstanding as always my freind. Love the music also.
