The events held by S.C.A. are a ton of fun for everyone, except for the rare historical expert who happens to be bothered by the fact that the clothing and armor are actually made by people who mostly work 9 to 5 jobs, live in the 21st century and like to look cool and love to have fun apart from the few who have the time and money to take pride in being as accurate as possible. Good grief, it's a bit of fun, if you let it be.

Problem that you mix armor and clothing from different cultures and ages in world's history doesn't exist. You have there some costume's that you think (I hope not) it is historical, but it isn't at all.

I don't think you get it. You are part right i am mostly right. You want to go and hack your friends limbs off with real swords and get real blood, feel free, go and "fight". This is the closest you can get the the feeling of actual midevil warfare without all the blood and guts. If you have no "fighting" skill you lose. Granted it's a sport but so is UFC, K1 ect....they're just playing too.
@Soundninja47 Can agree with you to a degree, however this is certainly not anywhere close to how realistic it can be taken :-) Here in Europe you have two main schools of fighting Western & Eastern European re-enactors, both use steel weapons and none of these 'bar grill' affairs (unless the original helmet had one, very few if any did). Western re-enactors generally avoid head and joint shots but otherwise go for it, whilst Eastern re-enactors are pretty open for anything goes 8-)
Nice videos of theat war. I remember fighting in that one. Had a couple of interesting battles. A couple was based on the movie Troy. A beach battle I believe it was with a "temple" and the city to invade.
Duder at 0:37? Yea that is pretty Orcish armour, but in the SCA we don't really go for the whole fantasy thing. However painting big teeth on your helm, wearing fur and kilts and anything to make you look big and mean to scare the hell out of your enemies... that's what we do.

on begining i thought it's XIV century reenactment as I saw some medieval clothes, but then there was some kind of an orc and I was sure it's LARP. I'm early medieval reenactor from Poland, and i'm curious what are the rules in your battles, cuz i think stick don't hurt as much as real sword with witch i'm fighting.

no real weapons are used. if you are hit it is based on honor and you have to go with it. if you get hit in the head or torso pretty much you have to die. if you're hit in the limbs you can't use whatever limbs that got hit.
Not sure where you saw an orc. Maybe someone had strange custom armor.
We aren't a re-enactment group. Its an all inclusive organization. Weapons are rattan that was more people can play. You don't have to pull your blows like live steel so you can hit as hard as you want . Not preferred but you can if you want to. We also use archery and siege machines.

Not LARP. Its SCA. No monsters , elves and fantasy. Weapons are Rattan, not foam.
Still fun though. Worth checking out.

no real weapons are used. if you are hit it is based on honor and you have to go with it. if you get hit in the head or torso pretty much you have to die. if you're hit in the limbs you can't use whatever limbs that got hit.
