I am pretty sure it is because of the flashlight that moves over the crime seen. I forget exactly how it is described but a few of the characters mention a "moving light". The log lady mentions it at one point
@supergolfdude Why not? If we consider that we still watch his early movies like famous "Eraserhead" for example, that is not even possible, I bet it will take place for sure.
More Masonic references then u can shake a stick at. Bohemian grove comes to mind what with owls... Moloch. "The owls r not what they seem". I think this means that the "Cremation of care" is not just for show or not just a mock sacrifice ... it is real. Our leaders have been into sorcery for centuries. Just a thought. I've watched this series over 15 times all the which through.... love it.... but it is a warning.
before you read my comment i just wanna warn you that it contains MAYOR spoilers about twin peaks you dont want to read unless you have seen the whole show anyway now you have been warned anyway i have a feeling that this is a future dream cooper is having and something creepy is that i had a dream like that once that happen the next day
@kallemick it wasn't really a dream, at least not in my opinion. cooper was psychic, as was laura, which might explain why they had the same vision in the form of a dream. when they read her diary later, she describes the dream exactly as cooper experiences it here. that's why they're so sensitive to BOB's influences.
Through the darkness of future pasts, the magician longs to see, one chants out between two worlds, Fire Walk With Me. I just love how derranged that sounds.
@skullsoda75 I think it's great to, so I looked it up. It's called "Dance of the Dream Man." Guess it was made for the show. There is a soundtrack CD of Twin Peaks in which it appears. You can find the album on Spotify.
im watching this on netflix and this scene had me saying "wtf?" i cant believe this was on primetime on national tv. definetly one of the weirdest shows i have ever seen
Anyone happen to know of a good compendium to this show? I seriously thought I knew what was going on but I really didn't. Just found out Mike's arm is really the man from another place
@jamesaellis The interviewed "The Man From Another Place" aka Dancing Dwarf when Twin Peaks was first on the air. He's speaking English. They wrote all his lines backwards (for example "Let's Rock" became "Kcor stel") and then played the recording backwards so "Kcor stel" was "Let's Rock" in crazy dream language.
You know what would have been cool? If the midget guy got close to the camera in the middle of his dace, looked right at the camera, made his eyes all crazy, and spoke gibberish without subtitles on the screen. Then have him go back to dancing around the joint. That's the ONLY way this scene could have been made better.
@maskemannen95 Yeah, I can't really say I've ever seen a more compelling scene in any television show (thought the first episode of Lost maybe comes in second).
in the final episode cooper enters the black lodge and laura palmer is there, she tells him she will see him again in 25 years, this scene is set 25 years in the future when she see's him again. I wonder when the scene at the end of "Fire Walk With Me" is set when coper is stood with laura when she see's the angel, if only it didnt all end then!!
My mom loved this show. But this clip gives me the creeps.
"I feel like I know her. But sometimes my arms bend back." Does anyone even have a clue what that means?! That's got to be one of the creepiest things ever, and I don't know why...
@MagicansForce yep this used to freak me out too, but after watching the whole show it doesn't anymore. The arms bend back thing was kind of a clue because Laura Palmer was tied up before she was killed, so her arms were back.
This might be totally random, but the shadow moving across the drapes at 3:26 reminds me of the winged shadow in the dream sequence of Hitchcock's "Spellbound". Coincidence?
@inertiaxxcreep I didn't realize until last night from watching a show on PBS that one scene in part 2 of Who Shot Mr. Burns on The Simpsons was actually a reference to this TV series and sequence!
Cooper explains later in this or the episode after this one that he was about 20 years older in his dream. The "red room" scene is therefore set in the future! :)
I always wondered if it was like a 2001 reference. The red room/bob/owls are not what they seem/circle of trees/oil etc are references to the Bohemian Grove, though.
thank you marinedelgado... i'm so happy you posted this! brings me back home... the quality and the timing of the clip is perfect. YOU ROCK, as does Agent Dale Cooper!
this makes so much more sense once you've watched through the whole series.
