Can you tell me the names (in hanzi, Chaozhou, and Mandarin) of the fiddles they are playing? I think they are touxian, yehu, and tiqin. Is there one called erxian, or is that the other name for the touxian?
Are you talking about the "tro" or the plucked instrument (zither?).
From your page, I understand that you have alot of Khmer pride. Don't get me wrong, I do too. But sometimes Khmer people have to face that Cambodia was a cultural melting pot. For example, our instrument the "kong" is adapted from the Chinese "gong".
lols haha well you got that right :) yeh i dno i was joking i didnt know what to say so a wrote random stuff, :) lols yeh adapt some instruments and stuff i know lols
Mr Li Xian Lie and our music dept, performing Teochew music at the field outside Aljunied MRT this Sat, 8pm. It is Hua Sheng (another music society's anniversary dinner) but can stand on the side to listen. Nice music. =)
It was filmed in Thau Yong Amateur Musical Association, a 77 year old society, presently located at 68, Geylang Lor 24A, Singapore.
The music they are playing is Han or Waijiang music, a music form presently extinct in China. The youngest member of this ensemble is in his 60s. The only teacher left in Singapore is presently 81 years old.
thanks for sharing, more please

Errr... I don't know which teacher you are referring to. My Teacher is Yang Hao Ran, the man playing percussion.
If I did not remember wrongly, Mr Yang Xiu Qing is still in coma in hospital...
I'm not in the video, the person who put up this video was the one recording & none of the people who have commented before are a member of Thau Yong.
