I never heard this song until Lena's magnificent one-woman show toured in the late 80's. The biting wit, the comic asides, the entire musical testimony to ladies- what a wonderful monologue!! "Get on out there and get yourself some LIVE!!" Who better to give out the message!!
I have been obsessed with this album since Ms. Horne died. I always loved her because she seemed like a genuine person, but I never appreciated her music or her as a performer. She was amazing. She put her whole self into this show. I LOVE the "live" high note in "A Lady Must Live."
