Their last two/three releases have been such a let down, and yes you can say that the band has to move on and mature but they've moved on so much from their earlier sound that they shouldn't even be called The Haunted anymore.

2. And not every Swedish death band plays Gothemburg style.

Well that aint 100% accurate, Patrick Jensen wanted to create a mix between his favorite bands, slayer and AC/DC but they didnt go that way cause of the other band members, they re-started what they were doing in At The Gates (Adrian, Jonas and Anders) The Haunted played till One Kill Wonder death metal but with the departure of Marco Aro due to personal reasons they left death metal on hold and started playing just plain Thrash Metal

Actually Melodic Death Metal is just a term to catorgorize bands like bodom's mix of black metal/death metal sound. Melodic Death Metal Is a real style..Norther,Kalmah,Insomniu­m,In Flames before all the metalcore sounding shit.,Children of Bodom,Eternal Tears of Sorrow, are just some examples of Melodic Death.Melodic Death is far from an anti-metal term and it has nothing to do with the vocals is mainly just the combination of black/death/thrash metal together

Actually I hate the term melo death, it confuses the listener with Death Metal with melodies with Heavy Metal / numetal with death metal grunts. Ie. At The Gates is Death metal with melodies, Children of Bodom (except for 1st album) is heavy metal with death vocals. Maybe is not that easy to explain, but with all the metalcore sh*t nowadays inspired by in flames, DTranq and ATG, this melodeath term is so f*cking anti-metal. Just my humble opinion.
