In the book, he does this breakup right after having the waiter present her with a used urinal cake that had been dipped in cheap chocolate syrup and served in a Godiva box...which is her favorite brand of chocolate. He waits until she takes a few bites, and then tells her they are over and because of the scene she caused, he isn't going to pay the bill.lol...so much funnier.
This kinda reminds of the scene in Legally Blonde (Reese is also in it!) where Warner breaks up with Elle and she's crying all loud and making a scene. I'm sorry...my friend made me watch it last night...
Anyway I love the line: I have to return some videotapes!!
"No, No! shut the fuck up Reese! Do I go around making scenes in public? What the fuck are you doing!??!?!? Seriously me and you are done...romantically.
People either love this movie or hate this movie. Those who hate it don't get the intention of this movie which is very detail oriented and subtle sarcasm in almost all scenes, behavior, dialogue, mannerisms etc.. Sarcasm about this type of shallowness, materialism and fake life people live.
The story is left open to interpretation. It also doesn't have to either be all of it is real or all of it is imaginary. Obviously the ATM telling him to "feed it a stray cat" and the police cars exploding were parts where Bateman lost it. They do not imply all of his supposed murders were merely imagined though. Painting supplies in Paul Allen's apt. and the constant mixing up of people's names throughout the movie hint that something more than Bateman imagined everything took place.
LOL and you also actually believe that the ATM actually tells him to "feed me stray cat".
the whole point with the book is that you can't trust bateman. he contradicts himself all the time. sometimes he even has problems to believe his own fantasy: when he blows up the police cars and talking to his lawyer at the end.
What a bastard and a total arsehole. But just as well, that she didn't marry him, otherwise she would hae ended up dead, like the others, who died.Sick, disturbing and funny at the same time.Bale is brilliant.
pat never killed anyone. you never understood the book and you sure dont understand what this scene is REALLY about: that pat cant really stand any of his friends and that he doesnt feel he belongs around these shallow people. he is feeling kinda like sheakspeare's Hamlet in a world where he doesnt belong and no one understand him thus he becomes cracy. he tries to blend in with all these shallow upper class people but he loses his soul by doing so.
No,I do undestand the book and yes,I've read it.I know Bateman imagines all these evil things, towards these ghastly people, but my comment was an analysis on his character and the 'what if's scenario's;'what if' he did kill those people, for real.I know i didn't make that clear.
NO HE KILLED EVERYONE YOU FOOL! WATCH AN INTERVIEW WITH THE DIRECTOR AND WRITER OF THE BOOK!!! It's a satire on this style of living and people only caring about materialism and social standings. FOOL don't tell people things you don't know about.
Patrick. I know my behavior can be erratic, sometimes.
His behavior is always erratic !
