@Clownfeet26s I didn't need a manual boost controller to fix it. I just tweaked it with v-Tune and it runs fine now. I need to make a new vid to show it.
@ricas77 that really sucks, hope your car's running fine by now. Anyway, I'm planning to upgrade my 2004 jetta's ko3 to a k04-001 kit since I really don't need all the extra power a bigger turbo gives. Do you think it's worth spending the money on the kit or it might be better to just maximize the k03s potential?
what does limp mode exactly refer to with psi? is this only a vw thing? quick question im getting a gti with full boltons, fmic and all piping, i think k04 turbo on 13psi, i know its upgraded turbo. what kind of hp numbers should i expect considering the gti is 180hp mk4 stock. thanks appreciate it.
@muscle2tuner Limp mode is when the ECU senses there is something wrong and either stops the car from boosting (if you are on APR software) or only lets the car boost to 5 psi.
A KO4 turbo spiking at 13 psi is really low. My K04 Spikes at 24-25 psi in some gears. It sounds like you might not have software (tune) on your car.
With a full turbo-back exhaust and proper tune you should be able to see 220 hp or more.
@kirkieb1111 You can't install the software yourself, you need to take the car into an APR dealer to flash your ECU. The turbo was installed in my garage with the help of some friends, one of which was a VW mechanic.
Just a chip alone makes the 1.8t faster than vr6

is you car faster than a vr6?

@79TransAm78 I would think it would be faster than a stock VR6, however, I have not ever raced one.

Did you try a different n75 valve? It is supposed to help with those spikes.

damn... you must be really angry after spending your money on the manifold and then having to remove it...

@josh182389 I can't say I was happy. We actually broke one of the bolts inside the turbo. That made it 100x worst.

@josh182389 I would say it's worth going with a kit.

I got rid of the Kinetic Motorsport Hi-Flow exhaust manifold.
ricas77 2 years ago
how did you fix it?
AlemanMx 2 years ago
@AlemanMx I had to removed the high-flow exhaust manifold and tweak some settings with V-Tune.
