i want to use the optical cable but my A/V adapter does not have optical and i do not have and hd tv if i get a similar A/v to the one in video would i just plug yello cord into t.v

i use the HDMI cable which doesnt allow me to put the other connection in that goes above it (the one you put the TOslink optical cable into), becasue if i dont use the HDMI cable the graphics and quality looks shit...how do i set up my astros by still using the HDMI cable???

@lidbra Search Youtube for "Xbox HDMI hack" and click the one by Oakkiller77, you basically just break off the gray bit of the normal cable around the part that plugs into you xbox.

make sure your xbox preference voice settings are correct, if they are then you must have it hooked up wrong

@knightwazhere the TOSlink cable doesn't COME with it (its an extra $20), but it is what Astro reccomends for best sound quality.

Its like having a race car, but driving it on a golf course. You can drive it, but you can't really DRIVE it. You know what I mean?

If you don't have a HDMI cable and the Toslink optical cable the setup will look exactly the same like in this video.

@you893 You need to buy a optical cable from astro, then u have to make sure that ure hdmi cable connected to your xbox has an Optical/RCA input. Thats how you use the HDMI with the Astro system. Graphics is much better with HDMI aswell.

If you want to setup your Astro A40 with HDMI First of all get an optical cable it makes the sound quality a lot better! Next go to GameStop or BestBuy and ask for an HDMI Cable with Optical input for the Xbox 360. Once you buy that the hdmi cable with optical input ypu can plug in with the optical setup at the same time. Its that simple. Also if you have the standard cable with optical input but you want to use HDMI just pop the gray casing off the standard cable and plug it in with your HDMI!

@KirbyDude666 if you are talking about the red green and blue ones, then the audio cables are the same. just connect the solid, not striped red and white cables to the piggyback. If you use HDMI, you will need an adapter for audio or you need to remove the plastic casing from the a/v cable that came with the xbox and plug that in under the hdmi and the xbox will automatically send audio through that instead of the hdmi. You may only be able to hear through the a40 but thats fine
