@spiritsong58 I have no problem saying this culture is wrong. It's insanity to treat a child like a god/goddess. Aside from that, these children are kept isolated and unable to live anything like a normal childhood. Then when they get their first period their goddess-hood is stripped from them and they are treated like they are nothing. It's horrifying.
The figure of 80% Nepali are Hindus are from 1990's census. But as of today only 35%-45% are Hindus as Nepalese are leaving Brahmanical religion (Hindusim). The dalits are becoming Christians, while Gurungs, Sherpas, Thakalis, Tamangs are predominately Buddhist. And certainly Rai, Limbu, Magar, Hayu, Jirel, Dhimal, Sunuwar, Yakkha, Tharu are going back to their ancient faith.

@JaeJini I think they mean that she isn't physically deformed, which would keep her from walking or sitting straight. A god or goddess in any culture is perceived to be perfection in every aspect.
