First song I ever remember in the Forties. My mother taught me the words (I was to young to read) and she would accompany me on the piano. I still have the sheet music. Wonderful Memories! Thanks for this....
Thankyou for uploading this. Shame, that record looks slightly warped, but I, like you, would have no hesitation in risking my stylus just to hear that lovely song :)
I used to sing my kids to sleep with this song ... they are now all in their late teens/early twenties ... and they still love it. Such a beautiful song.
I think the audio crackles add something to it actually.
"Sleeping when it's raining" seems a lot more appropriate with the sound of raindrops falling down the pavement. At least, that was what it sounds like to me.
...1941...Two years into WWII with bombs dropping all around and somebody's worried about a few crackles, wanna think 'em selves lucky that's all they got to worry about....it all adds to the nostalga...Thanks for posting..!
Wow! Thank you so much for this!!!! It brings back memories of my childhood and my grandfather (died 1981) playing this and singing along with me on his knee.....have always had this song going round my head but this is the first time I have heard this in 29 years!!!!

Britain's first comedy double act? Unless you know better?
Shame about the audio crackles; you could do something about it?

Bud crooning the tune and Chesney doing the "whispering Jack" thing, never fades does it. Sounds great on this, thanks again.
