  • i love how TR can bring in such a diverse group of musicians. Gary Numan, Dillinger Escape Plan, Death From Above 1979, Peter Murphy, David Bowie... i mean honestly... those artists spawn so many generations and genres of music. incredible insight.

  • such an amazing cover! the sound of nin always hits that weird little part of my heart. hard to explain :(

  • @cqsfsdef - I acquired it rather easily..... red waters....

  • dahh ! that image is like the logo of jhonny the homicidal maniac of jhonen vasquez ''z?''

  • @ITACHIKONIKI666 well if it was a z then it would. :D

  • and so they were drawn to the sound of music!!!!! catch.

  • wonder wot a shiver this track will give remixed in another decade? numans freaked me out and this one gives me more chills! love it

  • it symbolizes the industrial diseases of modern man in a world where god has left and took mans soul with him, then man takes the planet as compensation. I need to go to the bathroom more

  • I can't quite understand the symbolism in this song, could anyone elaborate it for me?

  • @somethingguy912 numan used his atheism as script for his music

  • @creon78 isn't there some kind of automaton in it as well?

  • @somethingguy912 The song was originally written by Gary Numan, who sort of created this strange futuristic world in his head - this world comes through in many of his lyrics. Everything he writes becomes suddenly easier to understand if you know that, sorry that I suck at explaining things.

  • this song just is ballistic

  • Love and Respect NIN

  • @LimitlessDelusional

Cant... too busy fucking to it... ;) hehe

  • being a cyborg rocks

  • @AndrewRaimonSavage

    Being an American rocks too...

  • I got Numan's original back in '83 when i bought the Pleasure Principle album. Just heard this NIN version for the first time. I think it's rather good, enjoyed it. NIN have done a great job, very recognizable but completely distinct as well. If you're a NIN fan who never heard the Gary Numan original, i suggest checking it out.

  • @LimitlessDelusional eeee... nope.

  • .....

  • u got to be emo to listen to this, its abit depressing...

  • @james123378 no.

  • @james123378 emo? fucking twit, grow up.

  • @james123378

    you're an idiot.

    please die.

  • @james123378 duh emo duh. You say epic alot dont you?

  • @james123378 i find guys like Gaga and lil wayne to be depressing tbh, this is whats called "good music"

  • @james123378 "Emo" kids listen to trendy rap shit and screamo. At least that's how it was when I was in highschool.

  • @GamePath Haha yes. Now they all wear clad, have nerd glasses and listen to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Mumford 'n' Sons.

  • i would like a mc...nigger with cheese hold the onions

  • Wow! I didnt even know this existed. 8]

  • @catcobbler you racist!

  • All I know is no one dies

I'm still confusing love with need

  • .. just got here from 2 bong tokes.. nice..

  • they did inception <3

  • yea no way you could enjoy anything sober

  • I love the sound of metal, don't you?

  • Nice bleak version

  • gary numan FTW!

  • Really good cover. Makes it his own without overdoing it.

  • Great track.

  • i could learn to be a man like you... ;)

  • @LimitlessDelusional like i was saying anything?

  • MAGIC!

  • Major Eargasms Commencing!

    (kind of what @KedViper said)

so you're right, it is CRAP(:

  • this made me feel better

  • Comment removed

  • @LimitlessDelusional Like on YouTube. There's a lot of dumbasses that just HAVE to comment. There's no escape from it. Both our comments are a waste

  • @MinisterMenace And so was the comment you just made and mine, oh god we can't stop.

  • @Khyrid Oh no! Why did you have to divide by zero?!

  • @LimitlessDelusional Nothing wrong with intellectual debate about this song. Don't want the comment feature to be a complete waste

  • @GeneratioNzGamingHD Haha they do actually . But nonetheless your right about how hating is a waste of time ^^

  • Please disable the comments to all music videos.

    01

  • One of the best! Also check out Marilyn Manson's Down in the Park.

  • @tylerrepotter

I threw up when I read your comment.

  • @theoriginal72 Really? How come? Usually people throw up when I put forth some kind of argument. lol. I like Metal because of the ground-fault buzz sound mostly.

  • its pretty amazing how this dude does everything with just a keyboared

  • 3rd equal best nin cover with physical and dead souls. stunning! but not as stunning as the original but thats not a complaint.

  • NIN are garys favourite band

  • no offence but gary numans ORIGINAL version is better, this is like a cheap crappy version for the new age of hypocrites that like to hear a bad guitar player, and seems to me like a constipated idiot singing the lyrics with a terrible voice trying to mimmic the "dead". i thought nine inch nails would be better than this. i am very dissapointed.

  • @luna1543

You have a bad Taste... Thats all...

  • Interesting treatment of Numan's most underrated work, as it was the b-side of "Cars". Not a big NIN fan, but this isn't bad.

  • i am an american......do you??:D:D:D:D:

  • @alykkt you're skipping a lot of that line.

"I need my treatment, it's tomorrow they send me singing, 'I am an american.' Do you?" As in, Do you need your treatment?

  • @GeneratioNzGamingHD yet i always get dissed of for loving death metal by pop and techno fans..soo thats not entirely true.

  • @GeneratioNzGamingHD pop fans don't know what metal even is... No wonder they don't say anything bad about it... Well apart from maybe "Isn't it the satanic music?". It's not played on the radio...To become a fan of metal you have to listen to it closely for quite some time. It's hard to understand metal if you are not used to it. People tend to fear what they don't understand.

  • so nice

  • Look at the left of the first N of that picture... I see a face shape there.

  • This is a beautiful treatment of this song. Really love it! Love Trent's art.

  • Lies on him using no effects. The soundboard's gain is maxed, volume is down, and the volume is kept relative by a chain of compressors. Same as HE ALWAYS does.

  • @succub1tch yeah he's doing old-school distortion on the vocals. although, i think what the other d00d was getting at was not using auto-tune and shit... which, honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he did occasionally, but if he does, he does it the proper way.

  • @GeneratioNzGamingHD

That's because most of us dream of an apocalypse where we can kill by pleasure...

  • the way that faint acoustic guitar sounds in the background during the outro gets me every. fucking. time.

  • no, baby in a blender makes salsa is a joke...i am a human...er, Mexican.

    >:[

  • your point?

  • i think it means metal as in the mineral not the genre...if you listen to the lyrics you would know.

  • Best. Song. EVER.

  • Tuck me in and Turn me on xD

  • @EmoGirl5901 Lol Spam is funny :3

  • @TheGreatGAMER1855 What does that mean lolzzz

  • @EmoGirl5901 You spammed the comments area with 2 comments << Spam.

  • @TheGreatGAMER1855 Ummmm is that bad?

  • @EmoGirl5901 If you're a girl then nope, lol.

  • @TheGreatGAMER1855 Haha I am lolzzz xD

  • Tuck me in and Turn me on xD

  • way to suck all of the fun out of this song, trent.

  • @GeneratioNzGamingHD Lolz, I personally love filthy disgusting metal, and I don't really like this song to be honest, but this comment.. is so fucking righteous.

  • Gurt1337: I couldn't agree more about this song...I love Gary, but Trent nails it! (no pun intended!)

  • Great cover of a genius song.

  • can u send me tht picture its fucking sick dawg

  • @GeneratioNzGamingHD you havent seen the comments section on a metal video then... they definately say stuff, weather its a religious person trying to save souls or someone arguing over how soulja boy is better... most metal fans i know are the chill ones... its usually the pop music people who are the dbags... guess it depends on point of view though...

  • ...Like you.

  • I prefer Gary's version honestly. Though this isn't bad.

  • NIN is about remixing things being open using self expression as an art. All kinds of musical melodies and instruments are used. I LOVE THIS BAND Trent roks! i keep an open mind try to give everything a chance even pop, rap classical w/e feel the music!

  • 2:48 on... one of the best outros ever.

  • Duddees, and Dudetts, :D LOL.

Okay Sorry. Personally, MY opinion, I freakin love metal. All you 49 people SUCK ASS!

Don't respond with mean comments (::

    ADDD IM NEWW

    :D

  • @GeneratioNzGamingHD lemme guess gay justin beiber or some lil wayne shit

  • 49 people are made of plastic.

  • Nothing like a bottle of pain pills, Bose surround sound, bottle of jack and trent reznor

  • @joshasunto Amen, Brother - although you forgot to add "a beautiful woman who may, or may not, hate you. She might sleep with you...or just cut your throat." Phew, what an evening... ;-)

  • @joshasunto painkillers and booze? you sure are smart boogard

  • @joshasunto I would recomend Knob Creek, for it's 100 proof.

  • @joshasunto tramadol, man. If not, vicodin,a bottle of any alc beverage that you consider fitting, and You are in the Heights

  • @joshasunto I agree. Xanax and wine and trent reznor is also great.

  • @joshasunto Well theres really nothing like a fat speedball of coke and heroin, then a few hits of nitrous and a line of speed cut with benzos and Trent Reznor..... but these days a bong load and trent reznor works out just as well

  • @StickyInADarkBlueCut hahahaha right on.

  • @StickyInADarkBlueCut Haha! Agreed. My drinking and hardcore drug experimental days have passed me but I'm all for some nice sticky bud and NIN music to compliment it!

  • @GeneratioNzGamingHD

actually, ive seen plenty of pop fans on youtube who threaten metal fans in comment sections :/

  • A good cover is The Cults " Born to be Wild" This cover sucks, it's about as good as The Cardigans cover of "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" Numan can't be matched!!!!!

  • @GeneratioNzGamingHD trent loves numan, here here trent

  • This is actually a very good cover. A good cover should demonstrate the covering artist's interpretation of the song while at the same time maintaining a certain amount of essence of the original. Trent accomplished both very well. A cover should never be exactly the same as the original or so different that you can't even tell that it's the same song.

  • Boner...

  • Listen to it on acid....

  • keep to yourself 47 noobs

  • This is simply the shit.

  • all those 47 are noobs

  • all those 47 are noobs

  • Trent sings in a very original way. It's like... he doesn't know how to sing, but it doesn't matter... it still sounds amazing. My favorite artist of all time.

  • @JekyllAndHydeEffect I agree with your comment completley, accept that I think Trent CAN sing... very attractively, I might add.

  • I guess I'm a purist. I think Numan's version of his own work is the best version.

I still listen to this from the vynl 45.

It's theB side of " Cars"

  • pretty cool, not as good as Numans, but he did a decent job on it

  • @GeneratioNzGamingHD

I listen to Dubstep, Rap, and Death Metal and Industrial!

WHATEVA, I DO WHAT I WANT!

  • sweet

  • I love NIN i have my own solo music thing im trying and trent is my big inspiration im not the best in the world but could i have other peoples opinion on it? its at myspace /rankoffall

  • 47 people couldn't pull the wires from the wall

  • SORRY KIDS TRENT GREW UP 10 MINUTES AWAY AND WAS ALWAYS THE FUCKIN MUSICAL GENIUS,,, CHECK OUT THE FIRST SHIT HE WROTE YOU WILL APPRECIATE IT MORE

    1

  • ive seen NIN in concert in 2009 and it was the best concert i ever seen. This song was awesome live, along with all the others.

  • Can you post that logo on the internet somehwere? It's awesome!

  • @medieval46 That's your opinion and I understand, I can't and don't wish to change it, but if you like his version and not this one, go listen to that one.

  • This song definitely was what inspired The Beginning of the End. So cool.

  • I like this but it’s a bland comparison to the the original. Metal was revolutionary for 1979. Gary Numan was far ahead of his time.

  • fajnie że to wrzuciłes Mikołaju :D

  • Gary Numan + NiN = EARGASM!!!!!! <3

  • Show of hands: who'd also love to hear a Judas Priest cover of this song?

  • Who thinks NIN should cover Tenacious D's The Metal?

  • If you are of a 'certain age' you may remember that the cool kids took the piss out of you because you like gary numan. How ironic!

  • @akafon7 go listen to Justin Bieber

  • @akafon7 That's because he practically puts NO effects on his voice. He doesn't like all the processed bullshit music of today you probably listen to. And His voice is my favourite voice, and who are you to say someone can sing? He's the famous musician, not you my friend.

  • @OhMyGodSANDWICH ya effects are for the instraments, not the voice :)

  • @OhMyGodSANDWICH LOL. There's a lot of effects on his voice you tool!

  • @OhMyGodSANDWICH he doesn't like the "processed bullshit"? you do realize this is indstrial music, and that's pretty much what industrial is right?

  • AWESOME SONG

  • @OhMyGodSANDWICH

I agree with everything you said except for the part about "NO effects on his voice." Reznor puts effects of his voice all the time. Maybe not to autotune it or make it perfect like the pop stars do, but he does use effects.

  • @jlan12 he uses effects for effect not to cheat skill in other words

  • @emonemojay

Well said. I don't understand why people waste the little time of their lives looking for things to put down, as if there were a rubric or check list for great music. It is subjective. But what do I know?

  • @AndrewRaimonSavage Seems they get a thrill off of putting things down.

  • @jlan12 He just doesn't use it as a crutch for his voice, he uses it to add to the experience. Heavy auto-tune users use it as a crutch because they can't sing well a lot of the time.

  • @OhMyGodSANDWICH You're simply ignorant. He actually uses quite a bit of processing on his vocals. Stupid motherless fuckhole.

  • @akafon7

    Fuck U.... With Love.... Me......

  • @akafon7 your fucking crazy we cant all have autotuned voices in fact i prefer we didnt trent puts so much pasion in his voice your so stupid

  • If that's your opinion, than why did you click on this video? It's not like he's giving his political opinion, you won't change his mind, you're just here to argue.

  • fuck his voice is so.. terrifyingly terrific!

  • you must of never heard of one of the first albums ever either nazdax 1 like the stockmarket nasdaq? cause it was pretty hate machine not little machine

  • saw this in Manchester. phenomenal.

  • i wish i had 1/3 of Trent's sampleing capabilities.

  • Gary Numan is unarguable the best on this song, but Trent gets me more hyped. Like i want to listen to what hes saying.

  • @Boowey116 i think it is arguable.

  • hell yea best band 0f 2 decadez.listened to in high school before no one heard of....little hate machine.couldnt wait to see what could be done after soul contract was up....this is it.

  • This song made me start listening to nine inch nails 10 years ago. i was only 10 also.
