Great work stardogs!!!...very nice video. I enjoyed shmups since Atari, then Nes, snes, ps1,ps2, dreamcast ,pc engine, sega saturn sega genesis...some consoles some emulators...
Space invaders, Star force, Image fight,Twin bee, Gradius 1, Axelay, Aero fighters,Gradius III, Darius Force, UN squadron, Einhänder, Raystorm, Rayforce, Donpachi, Mushihimesama, Gradius V, Ikaruga, Radiant Silvergun, Dodonpachi, Mars Matrix, Border Down...and i still need to play more!!!!
@cyberdupo56 Though could have even taken the angle that doujin programmers are keeping the shmup genre alive by continuing to release games and ignore how shmups are doing on consoles.
What! About the Dezaemon Series to Create the Shooting Game Tittle Company by Athena and also the Metal Black, G-Darius Created By Hiroyuki Maruyama i so Quit the Taito to He Work this Job the G-Rev Game Like Border Down, Under Defeat or etc. so Shooting Like it So Good
And lest I forget - wonderful show. The subject was covered with love and enthusiasm, and we got to see so many of the "big name" guys and hear their thoughts. Hearing Maruyama and others explain what makes a good shooter gave me a good laugh - they are absolutely right, and so many people (most of the western gaming press for instance) will never get it.
Lots of thanks Gameone, and KrgFn for the translation.
we need more oldschool games and scrol shooter instead the next gen (5h gameplay) shit... its long time, till i saw realy "new" great games for exapmple like jet set radio...
Wha! Just noticed: No Psikyo! One of the innovators in my opinion: Zero Gunner 2 / Pilot Kids / Cannon Spike / Sengoku Ace / Strikers series the list goes on...
Ah man.. Im going to get a copy of Dazaemon - see if I can make anything decent! There are so many awesome shooters - I wish there was a home grown scene today, I guess there are on the PC but I don't know of any.. Games like Radient Silvergun and Ibara go for stupid prices - Ibara - $150 - 325 on ebay and its yours.. People can't afford this - its much easier to copy games, normally Im against it but with prices like that I'm 100% for it!
@DracOverLordHaton Hey, thanks for getting back to me dude - I'll check these out for sure! ^_^ I got into Dezaemon a bit in the end, some cool little games, also have looked through a few of the 360 inides - some are ok, ALOT of potential there! The PC indie/"doujin" scene is amazing, its good to have both demos and full games available - if I had the dough I would invest in hard copies of these games ($20 odd I think - you get the cool art, case etc.) - alot of the titles are just amazing..
@andy7666 - you'll prolly know also by now, that the 360 homebrew section also has a fair amount of shooter games. If not, then the same applies as with other Live games - you can even get free preview / downloads of some of them, and cause they are homebrew they are cheap to buy. Don't know if the other consoles of current gen also do homebrews or not.
First of all, thank you for posting this. Second of all personally speaking when I found out Treasure was making Gradius V for Konami on the PS2 I thought it was ironic because Treasure was founded by former Konami employees who were tired of making sequels for consoles that was difficult to program on.

that Radiant Silvergun sounds really cool but its sloppy-looking 3D graphics don't sell it well in these clips
3D graphics sure do mess up a lot of games that don't need them

Ugh, how can they mention doujin games but not devote any time to the single largest doujin game series in Japan?
Sableneko 1 year ago
I agree, more touhou needed. Some things unique to touhou: more focus on the patterns of the bullets (spellcards) and the huge (HUGE) fan culture.

Many games only mentioned or showed in passing. Like Raiden!
Still an okay documentary I guess.

It was a really good docu. The only thing lacking in my opinion is a little part about Touhou project since he talked about Dojin games.

07:40 What is the game name?
I'm looking for a classic shooting game. It's similar with 07:40game.
maybe 2 helicopters, red and blue. When we get the maximum weapon, one is like a fire column.
In chinese character, the name was 2 letters.
