How can you go into peace talks with conditions? This would close communications. You make conditions when the talks fail. Christiana Amanpour interviewed 5 past secretaries of state including Kissinger & Powell, & they all agreed with Obama. You need to get your facts straight before you form an opinion. It's true that McCain voted against Sen. Webb's GI Bill which afforded our troops with armor & equipment, better insurance, better pay, VA benefits & better education. McCain got really nasty with Obama on the Senate floor when he questioned how a veteran could vote against the Bill. Our troops gave Obama a "B" while giving McCain a "D." Also Obama has 6 votes out of 7.

Whether you think the interview is biased or not, the voting record of McCain speaks for itself. He clearly doesn't support his fellow veterans the way he should. I was in Iraq in 2003 in the invasion of Iraq. My unit didn't have armor plates issued to us, we had the old Vietnam style flak vests that only stop shrapnel, not bullets. My unit wasn't a support unit either, it was Infantry. Because of that, men died that probably could have been saved. He will not receive my vote because of it.

We could've offered our troops protection by providing better body armor. It didn't require a Congressman to take up arms and go to the Gulf, just required our Congress to vote yes. I would think that since we have these men and women protecting us, we would do everything in our power to protect them, and by doing so that would keep our military and nation strong. But McCain votes against it.

As a vet, I will say this:

You have forgotten about the veterans, and they have forgotten YOU.

Even if during service, we were able to save a quarter of the money we made over 4-6 years, it is almost unfeasible to finish a degree in 4 years after service on that money. Many have families to support, and even being single you would have to support yourself with a full-time job while doing so. In most cases, the best you can afford with the current allowances is a community college tuition(full-time.)
