  • im going to do this to all of my air hogs now

  • Another toy that will end up being used to either kill us or track people.

  • nice toy

  • since it's ball shaped, it shouldn't need a whole lot of weight. the slightest lowering of center of gravity should cause it to roll over onto it's "feet".

also what would use it for?

  • Larger versions, "Helicoptor 2.0"

  • Why? the weight is kinda piontless, and propulsion is less efficient right? idk.

  • if there wasnt a weight and it landed upside down the propeller would try to pull downward

  • @iztoight inward

  • Might make a nice toy

  • doesn't it require more energy to lift than to maintain an altitude? my guess would be that it's less energy sufficient than a normal helicopter. Why didn't they think to put a spring instead of the weight, so that the copter would bounce up again...

  • hmm well gravity is constantly acting so theres a constant propulsion needed, i think this just works in short bursts and fires it like a projectile, dont think it would save much if any power though good point

  • well that was kind of a duhh moment

  • but wtf would you need that

  • voyeur

  • @faggotmacdonald

    that doesnt even make sense

  • I didn't give you a thumbs down, but I will now, for trying to be clever with my name. I also hope you die in a car fire.

  • Btw any sensable person can see that it's useless

  • @QwazyDude458 useless? i can think of so many ways this can help us. First of lots of military ideas such as land mines remote act-ivied grenades etc. A moveable claymore

  • not really, it could be used for many military purposes such as scouting and marking land mines. this design could also be used for space exploration like on mars or the moon; on the moon it could use ion or plasma engines.

  • stop playing halo

  • @QwazyDude458 okay... i don't even have an xbox >.> if ur commenting about the ion and plasma engines, they're perfectly legit. look it up.

  • how the fuck will the fans work on the moon.? huh ?

  • It won't use fans on the moon. That's what the ion jet engines are for. And when it doesn't need to jump, it could have a gyroscope based means of locomotion. In other words, it would roll, too.

  • @gamehero77 slow down slow down. they will get there. just wait till they hear about gravito electrics by rotating super fluids. then ion drive, gyroscopics, laser sails and solar winds will make sense

Like describing that it's not down and up it's inward and outward from center. That doesn't make sense on a flat planet.

  • @QwazyDude458 Drones for mapping planets. Cept on a large scale.

  • omg... this is cool but i want stuff that will help the planet... or at the very least make life cooler lol

  • "LEWT LEWSS BAWTERRY PAWUH"

COOL ITS GREEN!! Does it have a fucking use? Or they just spent money on this, just because they can, there is nothing groundbreaking in this.

  • What use does it have apart form teaching kids to play leap frog?

  • With this kind of thinking, we'll never get anywhere....

  • clever

  • GET TO THA HOPPA CHOPPA!

  • cool

  • Who needs this piece of shit?

  • and plant a bomb on that and wola

  • and then we have a new terrorist threat! Wonderful! xD

  • anti terrorist wepon or hunting deer in the forest?

  • u could plant a bomb in a normal rc heli as well, doesnt really increase the threat much... :P

  • new technology: it should always land upright due to it being WEIGHTED AT THE BOTTOM... do i sense a nobel prize?

  • So just because it's not super-complicated, it's not supposed to be good?

  • not sure what you are on about..

  • well, maybe I just misunderstood you, nevermind....

  • @clanOT i loled

  • less battery power for the tards!

  • now to just get it to mars....we need a bigger battery. lol

  • ok well great, now you just have to find 100 landing spots per trip.

    Stupid.

  • I think the weighted aluminum base uses up the battery power it saves by staying on the ground.

  • I WANT ONE!

  • Thats one of those simple things you feel embarrassed no body has thought of it before.

Put a cage around the helicopter......oh yeah!

  • I want one of these. Only I want one that actually stays airborne if I want it too. Otherwise it'll be a refreshing break from those toy choppers that break every land.

  • A bumpy ride.

  • whats the point? its cool though

  • Small heli is watching you...

  • i miss sandrine

  • Thats plop !

  • What are the envisaged applications for this device?

  • Put a bomb in it...

  • Yes, I'd thought of that. But hoped that someone would think of something else.

  • Should also be useful in exploring other planets, if they have an atmosphere that is. You wouldn't have to worry about how to get your rover over the lip of a crater.

  • they finally changed the voice thank god

  • I agree... Sandrine was SO horrible. Her tonal patterns were so god-damned repetitve and predictable, and completely unnecessary. I found I wasn't paying any attention to the words, and only HOW she was saying them. God, it was so annoying,

  • Paedophiles will love this

  • What is that crap?

  • A new way to land remote cameras everywhere. Great Job invading our privacy again scientist.

  • ROFLCopter

  • GET TO THE CHOPPA!!!

  • I'd rather ride your mom

  • alooominium

  • idiot.

  • where is the sexy voice?

  • How much weight can it carry?

  • I'd rather ride a bike.

  • I wonder when the military might use this to disarm terroists..by attaching bombs...hmmm?

  • holy shit dude ur right, thos are gonna be fuckin rank, flying bonbs that can chase u and have good batterie time. itad be like spider mines in starcraft,

  • Oh boy, don't mention the other option!

  • i think whom ever invented this must have seen that episode of Big and Rob where they crash, like, 8 $200 helicopters.

  • xD

thats exactly what i thought of

  • First sentence: "This robot can hop a little walrus"!!?

  • didn't you know the fact that walruses can jump over walls?

  • wont it be a bumpy ride? XD

  • this thing handles like the game Psygnosis Lander!

  • Cool toy, but nothing that impresses me.

  • sweeeeeeeeet

  • I want one.

  • uhhhhh

  • Heh.

  • Finally, a better sounding narrator

  • I WANT ONE I WANT ONE

  • I see the debate of language is started from this video. I can see this being used as a hopping bomb like something out of super mario, although I don't think those ones hopped. Look at the cute little death device!

  • Why, though? If you were in a minefield for example, and wanted to find mines via infrared or whatever, this would suck. Let's be honest. It's pointless.

  • James Urquhart, you should do the narrating for all of the videos, not Sandrine

  • You would look cool flying in that thing

  • Aluminium base? Oh british accents, making us think there are more elements then there really are. Aluminum.

  • *eyetwitch*

    must... resist... urge... to argue...

  • Its not an accent, its the spelling....

Aluminium and Aluminum are the same atom, just regional differences in spellings due to your American dialect. If anything you're the one who is wrong.

  • heh.. considering the language is call "English" and not Americanish. their way of saying Aluminum is most likely more correct =P

  • What's the use???

  • It's use is being awesome

  • And here's me thinking that the point of a helicopter is to stay ABOVE ground.

    -.-

  • booooooooooooring....

this is a good RC helicopter: watch?v=q6F-0rIpLJE

  • Yeah, lets all argue over what dialect is better

  • What use does this shit have? really?

all of todays uploads are dumb

  • just a cool thing, and it might later be used in something bigger.

  • what happens if it falls from a higher distance?

    crunch

  • just gotta make sure to give it a little throttle before impact

  • hey lets all argue over trivial shit and sound like a bunch of baby's on the internet :D woo hoo

  • heh lol it looks funny

  • I love how the comments are usually trivial on theses videos, especially in the beginning.

Asfor you native English speakers: you are aware that you horribly mangle vowels, don't you? That shift of vowels make words sound funny to my mainland European ears.

For the record, it is aluminium, just like it is kalium or natrium (or do you Americans call that sodum...?).

  • You oughta hear me talk, I am from the North Georgia Mountains,,, Ha Ha Ha,,, People from New York think I am from another planet,,, :) Gave you a thumbs up...

  • I love the way the English pronounce aluminum.

  • haha aluminniem

  • the correct way XD

It's spelt Aluminium, pronounced that way also.

  • Actually, both spellings are correct, as are both pronunciations.

  • So fuckin' what? - I could throw a shit over a wall, but I don't make a video of it.

  • I normally love NS videos but this is utter crap. First using less batter power than what? Power would be wasted starting the motor not to mention the added weight on the bottom. Please review material better before allowing such bold statements. Maybe it looks neat... thats fine... but that is all.

  • hopping boomz anyone?

  • I can see this being used as some sort of "smart" bomb :P

  • uses alot less batery power... really, that was what they were going for?

Then why have a weighted base, damn what a usefless piece of shit.

  • Have you done the maths? If so please show it to me.

  • yeah i've done the math.

    concerning energy:

    light chopper > heavy chopper.

    there you go.

  • well they meant efficiency: "at this particular weight it uses less power than others with the same weight"

  • Comment removed

  • The terrorist will be shitting themselves!

  • Ever heard of an americanism?

  • [2] Hell, the very word "English" is misspelled! Its own name, for Pete's sake, is misspelled! It's said as "Inglish" right? Why do we spell it with an " E " at the beginning instead of an " I "? Hmm? We don't pronounce it as "Ehn-glish" do we? The English language is one big mess! It seriously needs to be cleaned up in how things are spelled to reflect how they are truly said.

  • Who cares?

  • "English is one of the hardest languages to learn by non-English speakers"

Not true. Actually I think that English is quite easy to learn.

I don't have much problem with pronunciation, or spelling.

I agree with the spelling-to-reflect-pronunciation though - other languages are much more uniform.

  • English is hands down one of the easiest languages to learn.

  • I like how my interest in whether or not americanism is a word you use provoked such a defensive response. As for aluminium it just depends on how you split the syllables. al-u-min-i-um or a-lum-in-um. Arguably you could say you save time not adding an extra syllable ... *out of time*

But anyway the point is ITS A BOUNCING HELICOPTER!

  • I'm gonna have to agree on the idea that it's different and, in fact, easier. However, I gave it a thumbs-down due to your tone.

Also, American is currently too close to British to be called English 3.0. Maybe English 2.1. Just wait a century or two, then we'll see. ;3

  • @Supuhstar

"I'm gonna have to agree on the idea that it's different and, in fact, easier. However, I gave it a thumbs-down due to your tone."

You don't like my tone?! Okay, fuckface. Right back at you! I don't like YOUR tone either. Thumbs down to you!

  • Brits talk properly ;)

  • @tomking91

    "Brits talk properly ;) "

Well, you *would* say that, being a Brit yourself, wouldn't you? But I beg to disagree. In the case of this word "aluminum", if you guys wanted to pronounce it as you say it as in this video, you should have spelled it "alyuminium" or "alyoominium." But you guys spelled it "aluminum" so say it as Americans wisely say it, "a-loo-min-um".

How do you pronounce "luminosity" or "luminous"? As "lyoo-minosity" and "lyoo-minous"? See? Your rules make no sense.

  • Brits talk properly.

  • in English its spelt aluminium. Aluminum is an Americanism, like how you probably say nuclear like George W. Bush.

  • @Aspartame69

"... like how you probably say nuclear like George W. Bush."

Please don't be an ass. Okay? EVERYONE ridiculed George W. Bush for his erroneous mispronunciation of "nuclear" as he says it "nook-yoo-ler". Okay?

  • Just like you need a touch of ridicule for claiming that aluminium should be pronounced like the miss spelling you posted i.e aluminum. lol

Phonetically, the letter u could be pronounced 'you', so your critique on this is flawed

  • @Aspartame69

"Just like you need a touch of ridicule... Phonetically, the letter u could be pronounced 'you', so your critique on this is flawed"

Oh, really? Like WHERE is " U " pronounced as " YOO " except in backwards England? Americans, as I said, refined a shitty, fucked-up language and spells things better than their original mother tongue. We correctly spell many words as they're SAID. e.g. analyze & organization not analyse & organisation, theater & center not theatre & centre, etc.

  • you and yoo are phonetically identical.

As for the other words, looks like you have a beef with the French as much as anything. You were still wrong about aluminium but feel free to dance round ever other word in the language to make your point, which was wrong, btw :p

  • @Aspartame69

"feel free to dance round ever other word in the language to make your point"

Thanks. Here's another beef I have with you Brits. "draft" as in "draft beer". You guys spell it "draught". Why? It has no " F " in it for the true sound of word has in it AND, it's freakin' longer! This is totally asinine, my British friend! You guys are so ridiculous! I guess this ridiculousness nature of yours is why I so love Monty Python & many Britcoms. Thank you for that! Cheers, as you say! :-)

  • Draught is spelt the way it is for the same reason that enough if spelt with no 'f'. Now unless you are advocating the spelling to be enuf you are just being inconsistant and dodging the original point.

Cherio, tootle pip and all that.

  • Not being on either side, Anti in british is pronounced as "En-tee" but in american english its "En-tie". Also, the reason why the words are not spelt as to reflect how they are truly said is because of the "laws" of pronounciating it and i agree that its kind of like a big mess.

  • @SheepBaas

"Not being on either side, Anti in british is pronounced as 'En-tee' but in american english its 'En-tie' "

No we don't! At least not well-educated Americans say it "ann-tigh" We say it as "ann-tee" as in "ann-tee-matter". Come on! Gimme a break!

"Also, the reason why the words are not spelt as to reflect..."

We don't say "spelt" or spell it that way for when we want to say "spelled".

"and i agree that its kind of like a big mess."

    Thank you! Finally someone agrees!

  • The fuck?

  • it was emphasised by the speaker probably to show how it ispronounced correctly, it beats alOOOminum, it is aluminium and should be said likewise

  • @lewa1010

Three OOOs in "alOOOminum", lewa1010? What's this? Your version 4.0 of English? And you butted together "ispronounced"? Another new spelling for version 4.0? It helps to prove the case you're making, if you don't make such ridiculous spelling errors in the very comment you make regarding the proper spelling and pronunciation of words.

  • It all depends on your country - in the UK we say it al-yew-min-eeh-um.

  • exactly, im in the uk as well, i was saying how not pronouncing it alooominum is best, like how we do it

  • Hop grenade =/

  • booom
