It's 1:13 AM here on the East Coast and this mockingbird nearby will not quit! I don't mind, though. To be honest, I love it! =) I'm playing bits of this video and pausing every now and then just to mess with him. I think my human neighbors might be getting a little annoyed with me, however.
This bird is a pain. I never knew birds to sing all night long. This year this bird is in the tree by my bedroom window and I mean LOUD. I take a hose a just aim in the tree to scare him off, remember it's dark, he does fly off, and back the next night.

True story, woke up from a deep sleep last night around 1:30am to these bird calls... I legit got up, found the tree and shook it a little to startle the bird. 1 point for me, but I'm sure I'll lose several points & hours of sleep later this week to the N Mockingbird. D'oh!
@Reacher81 I had one that would chirp loud as all heck at 3am until 3pm. Id leave for school dead tired because I couldn't sleep anymore, walk back home and it would still be chirping away. I'd shine a flashlight in the tree and it would stop but as soon as that flashlight went out it went right back to chirping.

I have a love hate thing for mockingbirds, I remember being about 7 and going to my dad almost crying telling him that the damn bird that sounds like a car alarm wont let me go to sleep lol
some bird sings at night becuase human are loud during a day and not be able to communicate, find the mate. so they are trying to adapt to human society... which takes lots of enery for the bird.
It would be so nice if human are more considarete and try not to think this earth is belongs to only human speices.
to me, hearing their songs during night makes me sad.
@nemesis4825 thanx for those words yeah it makes me sad to think that thats why they sing at night,its made me more understanding and yes i agree it sux that the human race is as ignorant as it is.Earth belongs to every living soul,if humans were to die out the world would flurish.........but we already know that.

This birdsong is awesome. Besides mockingbirds I like nightingales, song sparrows, goldfinches, and canaries. The lyre bird is good and cockatiels are funny.
I've been tryng to figure out which bird it was that made this sound! I've heard a few in Northern Cali and an especially loud one next to my hotel room window in LA. It went on and on at NIGHT like 1-4am. I thought it was a prank because of all the different sounds it was making until I actually went outside and saw the sound coming from a tree. It's surreal!

ok there is a mockingbird in my neighborhood and it calls from like 12 am to like 4am seriously!!! and this is in huntington beach, CA
