It is more than just gear. Look at his positioning on the bench. Look at his short arms. My arm span is 6'10". I think I have did pretty damn good to have done 465 raw. Just cause some barrell chested short armed dude benches alot it does not necessarily mean they are that strong. Tiny Meeker admired my bench and that on a day he did 848 equipped!

They're actually not cheap at all, fairly expensive. And if you can bench 425 @190 (I'm calling bullshit on that one because you have no videos of it) you should have been able to handle a lot more than 450 for a triple in shirt, but that's kinda how I know you aren't a 425 pound bencher.

Also, he had done 635 X 2 touch and go in training. he has now done 675 and 705 RAW full range in training and 800 down to a 2-board RAW. This appears to be only 830 pounds or so. So I'd be willing to bet Ryan can bench well over half this. Like that guy below us just said, he's done 405 X 20 and it's on video. he's also done 315 X 40. I'll bet you're not an idol to anyone like this guy.

Weight is leverage against the bar. Typically, the easiest way to make your lifts go up is to gain weight. That's why, just like wrestling, there are weight classes. Just because you are "as strong" as someone, doesn't mean you can out leverage then if they have 50 lbs on you.
Even the strength you have has to be used as leverage against the bar- otherwise it's nothing.

No offence but Kennelly's 1050 was not legitimate. It was performed at a back yard meet at a local gym. Kennelly should denounce all his benches over 1000. They're either raised butt or back yard. This would never happen in the USAPL.
You've seen the video of his 1050, it does not show a side or front shot of him so you can't say that you know he raised his ass. All he has to do is clench his ass cheeks and it'll raise his pelvis 3-4 inches off the bench. It LOOKS like his ass is raised, but it never loses contact with the bench. You need a sideview to really see that.
Finally, somebody with some lifting knowledge! I find it best to keep your back and ass completely flat on the descent of the bar and the second the bar makes contact with your chest or upper abdominals, you should clench your ass together and flare out your back for that explosion off the chest, but not a bounce. What's your intake on it. I know for a fact Ryan starts off like that to decrease the bar distance. What would you recommend.

That's only true in the case of SHW PL'ers. Most SHW lifters don't have six packs, but as you move down through the weight classes, they start to become more visible. If you lift weights, you're going to get bigger and stronger is my philosophy, but it depends what you train for that decides which one you get more of.
You don't lift too much with the lats, you want to utilize your lats as much as possible when performing a powerlifting bench. If you're benching right, your lats, front delts and triceps become just as important as the chest, if not moreso in some cases. This is powerlifting, they're not performing the bench press to make their pecs look a certain way, they're performing the bench press to be able to bench press more weight! Tuck the elbows, widen your grip, arch your back, and drive your legs.
RYAN KENNELLY is the BEST at RAISING THE ASS than the other benchers. The other benchers don't know how to get the added pounds of RAISING THE ASS OFF THE BENCH. Do yourself a favor, lie on a bench and clench your ass cheeks as hard as you can, you'll see it raises your pelvis up like 3-4 inches, but your ass doesn't actually stop touching the bench. uh... i'm sorry... i don't think i agree with you whatsoever.... the shirt is to assist you. the poly shirts help with the press.. and the denim helps with keeping the elbows tight etc. i'm not a bench shirt expert. but i'm almost positive that bone breaking has nothing todo with it.

Weight is leverage against the bar. Typically, the easiest way to make your lifts go up is to gain weight. That's why, just like wrestling, there are weight classes. Just because you are "as strong" as someone, doesn't mean you can out leverage then if they have 50 lbs on you.
Even the strength you have has to be used as leverage against the bar- otherwise it's nothing.

No offence but Kennelly's 1050 was not legitimate. It was performed at a back yard meet at a local gym. Kennelly should denounce all his benches over 1000. They're either raised butt or back yard. This would never happen in the USAPL.

You've seen the video of his 1050, it does not show a side or front shot of him so you can't say that you know he raised his ass. All he has to do is clench his ass cheeks and it'll raise his pelvis 3-4 inches off the bench. It LOOKS like his ass is raised, but it never loses contact with the bench. You need a sideview to really see that.

Finally, somebody with some lifting knowledge! I find it best to keep your back and ass completely flat on the descent of the bar and the second the bar makes contact with your chest or upper abdominals, you should clench your ass together and flare out your back for that explosion off the chest, but not a bounce. What's your intake on it. I know for a fact Ryan starts off like that to decrease the bar distance. What would you recommend.

I don't think he meant "looks like shit" as if in he has a poor amount of muscle mass. I think the powerlifter look just looks like a big fat guy. How's lifting a ton of weight going to do you any good if you look like you need to do some cardio? Don't get me wrong, powerlifters are big strong mofos, but I wouldn't want to be big and really strong at the cost of looking fat. And don't stoop to his level and suddenly bash bodybuilders. BBers are strong too, but have sixpacks to go with it.

That's only true in the case of SHW PL'ers. Most SHW lifters don't have six packs, but as you move down through the weight classes, they start to become more visible. If you lift weights, you're going to get bigger and stronger is my philosophy, but it depends what you train for that decides which one you get more of.

You don't lift too much with the lats, you want to utilize your lats as much as possible when performing a powerlifting bench. If you're benching right, your lats, front delts and triceps become just as important as the chest, if not moreso in some cases. This is powerlifting, they're not performing the bench press to make their pecs look a certain way, they're performing the bench press to be able to bench press more weight! Tuck the elbows, widen your grip, arch your back, and drive your legs.

His ass certainly maintained contact with the bench in this video. The problem is that what you think is raising the ass is actually clenching the ass cheeks. Do yourself a favor, lie on a bench and clench your ass cheeks as hard as you can, you'll see it raises your pelvis up like 3-4 inches, but your ass doesn't actually stop touching the bench. That's a trick powerlifters use.
