What version of iMovie are you using. I am using '08 and can't seem to adjust the speed of my time-lapse. I tried double-clicking the clips like you instructed but it isn't doing anything. What am I doing wrong? Or is this option not available on this older version of iMovie?
thank u! the part in the info where u said i can export the video to my desktop and re import it helped me out tremendously. thats the answer i was looking for!
@graffantipubli meh i have the same problem... and i cant find a video on here explaining it to me Xp i Might have to look else where for the answer...
Please can you make a video on how to have a double video. So say like you had like half a screen like a YouTube video and the other half like a video of a review on the video for example. So basacly a splitscreen video. Thanks :)
@TheHowToMac Is there a way to have iMovie strip out frames? this method is only fasting forward a video. I want to to a time lapse that is more like a series of photos put together. my dSLR doesn't have an option of taking jpegs at set intervals so I want to use what my video camera captured instead
i am beyond aggreavation trying to figure out how to layer picture on top of picture of the same picture and motion....secondly having the second picture at a faded delay, so it looks like a shadowed effect or blur effect or motion effect. please help before i quit editing!!!!!!
i did exactly this and my video its still going at a very slow motion! i cant understand what's the problem my video it's 15 sec long and i need it to go at 3 secs so i fast forward it to about 2000 and it wont work it will let me put the speed number and all, no problem but it wont do it while playing the movie i converted it first and all!!...ugh so frustrated can u help me?
I have a question about time lapse, like i know how to do it but how do you do time lapse but the camera moves also? is it just moving the camera very very slowly? moving the camera while taking individual photos? if you dont know what I am talking about, I can show you some examples...help please :)
@PanteneWreck Yes please show me an example! usually to reproduce something like what I think your talking about you will want good track dolly so you could slowly move the camera however thats time consuming and expensive. Using using iMovie you can simulate camera motion by using a ken burn Window<Kens Burns and Rotation. But what you really what if you want to simulate custom camera motion is Apple Motion and Final Cut Pro.
@xCoolRosex Ok I can help you but I need some clarification, do you want help with putting titles on your movie projects or do you want to be able to record whats on your screen like I do for my tutorials? If you want to record your computer screen there are two programs out there, screenium and screen flow. I personally use screenium. With screenium you can draw a box anywhere on your screen and record video.
@xCoolRosex after you have your video into imovie make sure you drag it up to the editing timeline. To add text titles, click on the "T" its on the middle grey toolbar on the far right side of the screen, this will bring up all of the title slides. Click on one and drag it onto your video clip. this will allow you to add titles.
When I try to post a video over 10 minutes it says "Projects posted to YouTube must be smaller than 1000 MB and have a duration of less than 10 minutes. Please shorten your Project before posting to YouTube." and do you know how I can post it if I don't want to speed the video up???
@dottiepaintball Youtube limits its user uploads to 10 minutes. If you become a youtube partner you can upload larger files.go to google and search youtube partner, read the requirements and go ahead and apply. The partner program also allows you to monetize your videos, make sure you don't have any videos with music that you did not personally create
i think you meant to say export the video back into iMovie, but I get it.
Let me ask you this - If you have a sequence filmed in the car and you want to play parts of it in time lapse and parts of it in real time...is there a way to transition the footage so it's smooth?
Thanks a million! I'm applying to a film program for next Fall.....this is quite clutch. I'll give it a whirl later this week. Looks pretty straight forward and simple.
One question - is the conversion permanent? Do you recommend duplicating the footage you plan on using for time lapse?
@DmoneyTheDude the conversion becomes permanent only you export the clip, if you mess us you can always reimport the original file and re-speed it up if that makes any sense.
ps. If you want to speed the clip up even faster you can export the timelapse video then reimport the exported video back into garageband and speed it up again
I need help. How do you make it do you can video what you are doing on the actual screen from the Mac
