I am glad this movie waas posted becasue I always wanted to see it, but I gotta say- it kinda sucks. The movie is not faithful to the books asn it moves along too quickly. And waht about Dianna Barry?
wtf? marilla is a good character in the story.. this is what happens when film makers try to make a movie out of a novel.. things get twisted... i read all the anne books and i appreciate them in the way they were written..
@TerrasAngelsDemon You took the words right out of my mouth. Marilla is supposed to be strict, but she's also meant to be a kind person who truly has Anne's best interests at heart. I can't like this Marilla, and liking Marilla is paramount in making the story work. Part of this could be the fact that Helen Westley was used to playing cookie-cutter villains.
But Marilla liked Gilbert! She was proud of him as her almost son.

@ssmbookworm She and Diana tried their best to set them up together and disapproved of Anne's other beaus. This isn't fair!

this is a far far far adaptation of the book.

Why did they have to change it from the book? I agree that film makers tend to twist things around!

The 1985 film borrowed quite a bit from this one.

@xanthique The TV-Series of 1985 is much better. It sticks more to the book acually. Plus the actors are better.

Sheesh, they practically make Marilla be the villain in the story.

Haha, from the 1985 version it's so different! And I still can't believe Anne and Gilbert kept that a relationship a secret for so long..!
