You don't for stronger bonds. Maybe in a virtual sense, but....

Please don't tell me that an online bond is stronger than that of two soldiers relying on each other for survival.

    Nonsense!

In fact, I'd put my whole career on the line by saying that she'll get further and further away from human interaction rather than closer as she likes to postulate.

  • the future doesnt have a life

  • 26 Of course she prefers the virtual world. Just fucking look at her. I mean, damn..do you even care about how you look?

  • any one who perfers a vitural world to the real world is someone stuck in the matrix. they are in the cave and are cowards.

  • I love tehchnology but living a virtual life OVER the real one? Fuck that. Sure, real life is hard, and often scary, and almost always a let down, but what the hell are you suposed to do? Become a coward and pretend you're a wizard?

  • @northernvoxmedia Your right people should toughen up and learn from these hardships instead of escape them.

  • Modular robot? KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!

  • 0:30 what a bullshit she said... it's not because she's got more time to think it's cuz the people she speaks with don't see her and so she feel free of her complexes

  • Point blank: Virtual reality is for those who find more happiness in the virtual world than in the real world.

  • Terminator, Judgement Day coming soon!

  • Terminator, Judgement Day coming soon!

  • future = ghost in the shell

  • My first act as president will be to ban WOW from the face of the planet. You will thank me for it later.

  • @jmonteleone0927 If you do that I don't think president would be an appropriate title.

  • @jmonteleone0927 ha i know

  • this online social life thing needs to be to put to an end. it's already destroying families and health of our brains...

I promise you if this continues far we will put an end to the human civilizations

  • i think we can still talk to each other in real life ¬_¬ its just easyer online!

  • if that first girl was funny, she would be female ricky gervais

  • Make Love Not Warcraft!!~~

  • I hate World Of Warcraft and dont play it to save you humanity.

  • FOCKIN UNDEAD PRIEST!!

  • I hate undead :( Blood Elfs FTW!

  • All of this but humans will still be living in squalour - those who use this technology and those who don't have access to it.

  • I totally agree. I'd like to see if people in Sub Saharan Africa have the same experience as this,

  • if we build the nanotech then they can have this too if they want. :-)

  • True. And if we have fusion they'll have all the energy they want. But the nanotech revolution will be the massive revolution.

Although, what could be the adverse effects? Fusion might lead to overheating the Earth and changing the atmosphere. What could happen with nanotechnology? It's an interesting thought experiment. .. .

  • or they might have it even without wantin it if the nanobots are given possibility to replicate and get loose, they'd be like a new virus in which there's no vaccine

  • @ExtantFrodo those super bot things are like MINI TRANSFORMERS!

  • the good thing about technology of the future is that people who don't have social skills like this girl in the video will be able to contribute to society whereas before they isolated themself because technology will give them an avenue of communication

  • she just enjoys havin guys interested of her. every girl has atleast 10 guys droolin over them in online communities, especially married women :P

  • haha is that right?

    funny

  • what the hell? that whole thing about people not wanting real time conversations. . .ok maybe in England, but the rest of the 6 billion people arent as rich as the british and wont really have that luxury. . .shes out of her mind...

  • No, she is in her mind - living in it and as it.

  • For all that PvP she was doing, she isnt very geared...and im not shocked that she doesnt have her epic flyer...

  • lol harsh

  • but true

  • What they're doing here....this is maybe = bad idea?

  • Sweet..Replicators are awesome!!...

    That is all.

  • However, when she'll be confronted with real situations, she'll battle a bit I think. VR is predictable to elicit desired emotions and reactions. Reality is completely opposite.

  • there are those out there that lack social skills in real life and in virtual reality...alot!!! but virtual reality is a medium for learning social skills and also art. In order for something to inscibe itself on the hearts and minds it must first where a terrifiying mask. Those that go around insulting people saying you have no social skills clearly are projecting and would do best to practise there social skills in a virtual reality.

  • that is nonsense...the use of invectives and agressive verbal behaviour is much higher in VR and the internet than in real life...i sure would like to see some people cursing at me on the street the way they do it on some blogs, discussions etc...

  • I think, as it's slowly becoming more real, that will be reflected in people's behaviour. Facebook once was a joke but now we know that what we say stays there and our bosses and families might see it. Also, it could end up being a more honest place. You raise a good point though and I'd be interested to see what happens.

  • this is certainly scary, to imagine that human beings are attached more to the computers as opposed to the humans.we can certainly see the patterns coming with more more and more people becoming violent, showing unruly behaviour. Human beings are beginning to lost the touch of human emotions and becoming more machine like of being showing very little emotions for hungry, homeless and disadvantaged people. The society is becoming alienated within the society

  • This pattern recognition is scary. The machine has now the "Terminator-vision"

CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE APPLICATIONS!!

  • I have a piece of pattern-recognition software I downloaded off the net which can do the same thing.

The ideas did not originate with him or with MIT.

  • Really? Is it really as capable as the one in this video? I'd like to see it.

  • Actually, "Computing beyond Turing" is the latest lecture.

  • Yes, it's just as accurate if you train it properly.

Check out Jeff Hawkins' lecture "Computing Beyond Turing" for more info, Then go over to the Numenta website if you want to download the software.

Be warned, though, it's not easy to use.

The folks in this video seem to have gone one step further than the current Numenta implementation, though, in that they already have an attentional-mechanism which allows the computer to tell you where in the picture an object is and how many there are.

  • Correction. Looking again, there's a newer talk, "Jeff Hawkins on Artificial Intelligence", which I haven't watched yet.

  • Thanks a lot. Yeah, i know Jeff Hawkins, he's great. A visionary :P Thanks for pointing me at his direction again

  • furthermore, to all of those normal people, to all of those that are normal, those that can talk, those that have minimal social skills, this clip is the proof of how we are normal, so dont feel disgusted by the clip, feel happy fo knowing there are sad retarder people like that girl living around us. hopefully stuck in their rooms playing their silly games!!

  • You are normal in the sense that you, like most of the people in the world, have no ability to think independently. You can't understand how the mind works, and how THIS REALITY doesn't have to be the only reality.

Actually, you are right. It is good that she is out of the streets, where she would meet you, the gray masses, who'd just make her life miserable to make yourself feel better.

  • Jamaicans would have a word for describing smeone like you. Fuck Hole!! Batty Hole!! Load of Shit!! Fuck you, you self important bombo!!

  • I find it interesting to notice a trend. the people that find so much interest in moving into virtual reality world's are all a bunch of lame, freaks. people that have no social skills, people that can't talk with others, that live in their silly, sad, disturbing minds. so I congratulate these games, programmes, because they keep those sad people out of the streets! look at this history student, can't you just tell by her speech what a retard she is?! can't you tell by her arguments?!

  • Yeah bitch it's me again. Who are you, some person who shits on a plate and think that the rest of the world would be previliged to eat it?

Refering to people as retards not only speaks to the undertsanding that you have no intelligence yourself, or any knowledge of anything going on in this world other than your superficial, nonsence filled, I'm hot so I deserve to live kinda life. If you can detect arrogance then your are detecting a person who is filled a load of shiiiiiiiit!!

  • hey, punk -- I meet all of those requirements... I'm a lame freak that lacks social skills. And, I hated Second Life and WoW is for sissies! So, their goes your theory.

  • lets get all the people together who are not happy with their lives, have low self esteem, communication skills and isolate them in a twisted dymensional world so they can pretend to be different. it doesant achieve anything-just deluding people. what these people need is therapy and education not a FAKE world. and i find it unlikely that in the future everyone will have an avator because believe it or not some people are actually happy outgoing and confident

  • A-Fucking Men

  • object recognition skills, WOW sooooooooo impressive!!!!!!!!!!

  • for sure. I didn't realize "they" were that far along. another group working on object recognition is Numenta.

  • i prefer read about history than kill the monster, our action depends on what our interests

  • i would and wouldn't want to live in a robotized world.. they would make tasks easier yet they would make us lazier and this would abolish many jobs which more and more people need.. its all about the money now.. shameful world

  • You think too statically about the future. As robots free us from menial tasks we humans would create other job incentives, like those associated with alternative energy production, solar panels, fuel cells, working as designers in the virtual realm, etc. I have a job whereby I work about 5 hours a day on the computer, and I still manage to squeeze in an hour of exercise a day. Only the lazy minded would become lazy of body. Time to take care of ourselves.

  • We are all under social pressures. I'm just being ironic.

The bastard would be whoever is trying to make anyone who can't cope with social pressures isolate him/herself by believing a fake reality can solve the problem. It's just like pushing drugs.

  • id never play WoW

  • Virtual reality is "liberating" because "I feel more like myself when I'm not under social pressures".

Great, so we grab all the people suffering from social pressures and we connect them to virtual reality. Now they are free! What a wonderful world!

  • lol pepe.... PROBLEM SOLVED.

  • Hey- no matter what point in human civiliztion you will live in, you will always have problems.

Just like we have problems solving violence, and environmental issues, we will have them in the future.

I must admit though- if we do not control those social issues (in the future), we will face a big issue almost as equally of a concern as global warming.

  • @pepetruelo

I'd rather we just worked on fixing those social pressures rather than just escaping them. A virtual world sounds sad and unfulfilling. I do not look forward to this world.
