  • probably the greatest pair since pb&j

  • that awkward moment when 9 minutes feels too short.

  • 10 people have a penis in their ears

  • @francescoguarino better then singing like you have a penis in your throat...

  • a poignant interpretation of a sad poetry by an artist (starting at 6:13 minutes)

  • he's just amazing.

  • That is 1 badass dude on the Guitar

  • This is not musica.is history and legend

  • :megusta:

  • This is utterly amazing. Morello steals the show from The Boss? Yes, I do believe he does.

  • @illdiablo80 I agree with your first sentence. But why dis on Mr Sprinpteen? Think about it, he wrote this song and inspired Morrello to make such a badass solo... Lay off.

  • 6:13 skip the intro

  • I was there both nights. I also saw them a few weeks earlier in Portland Oregon. It was awesome. I have seen Pink Floyd in 77, Stones in 75, Led Zeppelin in 75, Moody Blues,Yanni, Jethro Tull, ELP, Yes, U2 and at least 50 others. I have never in my life seen a crowd response like at the Honda Center those two nights for this song. Awesome!!!

  • Morrello is a great guitarists, but what the fuck was he doing in the last solo. Sounded awful in my opinion.

  • @MKECBS1 Haha, that's sort of his thing if you're talking about the scratching. If you're not familiar with it, you must not listen to a lot of RATM.

  • @MKECBS1 fuck off motherfucker

  • Its a great song- personally like Bosses studio cut- Please watch / read John Steinbacks "The Grapes Of Wrath" for some background a favorite of Woody Guthrie- even named a son Joady. PS- Toms also a fine artist

  • Wow!! The Boss plays a solo!!! Now I'm waiting for the flying donkeys... LOL

  • The fact that I'm watching a video game ad before this sums everything up.

  • i think tom is good but some of his solo stuff at the end did not work here, all the whammy stuff he could have left out and just played the really cool stuff he was doing, but then he has to do his turntable scratching stuff, creative? you bet called for in this tune? no

  • If that solo at the end by Morello doesn't give you goosebumps, you are tonedeff

  • The lyrics and everything are great but not to troll because normally this song is the best but the voices of Tom and Bruce don't exactly mix well, and the solo by Morello, dear god, was so great but didn't fit the song at all. But it is still a great song.

  • Man, this tune is such a ... i cant describe it i...

  • Just heard this song yesterday.. OOOMMMGGG This is EXCELLENT!!!!!!! TY Brue and Tom ...how utterly apropo these lyrics are TODAY....♥

  • this song is pure energy

  • Not the ghost of Tom Morello. He will live forever. He absolutely rocked that tune. He is rapping with the guitar after the 7 mark. Nothing has sounded this awesome since Jimi's cover of All Along the Watchtower.

  • This song was released in 1995 ... there was an understanding of a New World Order at that time. If you don't know the lyrics, you should look them up... they're amazing, and speak to what being a true American is really about... We all need Tom Joad right now.

  • @ChadwickRyan right on!!!!

  • idolo.

  • Love the boss and mr spigsteen, but some elements of the solo didn't quite fit in with the nature of the song for me. Am I alone in this?

  • This song nearly brought me to tears one night while I was working I was listening to it. The full magnitude of the song hit me. Everyone out there is someone's son someone's precious little baby. Every terrorist, every drug addict, every homeless person. We need to change society's mentality. It's not republican or democrat, christian or atheist. We are all humans all equally lost in this mess known as existence. We could be so great but humanity is squandereding its potential.

  • I saw this in one of the theaters in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with my family and all I can say is wow. My older brother and I know Morrello pretty well but my dad and younger brother didn't know anything about him until they saw this performance and my dad can't stop talking about him. Just goes to show how underrated some amazing artists like Morrello are through past and current rock.

  • maybe one of the most amazing performaces I've ever seen

  • one of the greatest guitar solos i have ever seen!

  • @iFoundNemo11 then u didnt saw any of eric "the god" clapton solos

  • Tom Joad lives on amongst artists and poets. Everyone should read 'Grapes of Wrath', a novel for our times.

  • Interesting lyrics. Written and sung by a billionaire.

  • @MrRazorblade999

Bruce is not a billionaire. A billion dollars is a lot more than you think it is.

  • @ChadwickHenryWard That's not the point!

  • awesome! simply awesome.

  • Wow, great song but how brilliant was that guitar solo at the last quater of the song ?

Bruce is a legend but his guests aint bad either.

  • Tom is still a young artist and when hes older he will find even a better way to play the shit out of a guitar.

  • He doesn't get put up there with other guitarists we hear about all the time (Eddie Van Halen, Dimebag, Hendrix) because he is more of an effect driven player, then a grit to the neck axeman, I think he is better than most if not one of the best. The Edge has the same problem. Guys that use mostly effects or are sound oriented get shit on by the guitar community. They're both fucking amazing.

  • whaouuuuuuuuuu !!!!!!! quelle performance !!!!!!!!

  • Fucking Brilliant Rock Performance.

    Morello is the shit

  • @chihawks2010 your head is shit dude

  • In my humble opinion, this plus Bruce and John Fogerty was the best music of the whole how many hours it ws 25th ann of the rock and roll hall of fame, powerful, energetic, moving....Tom Morello is very severly underrated...from rage against the machine..audioslave..night watchman...he is just aweome!! p.s..to you whiners...so what he gets to make a living doing what he does, I rather pay to listen to him then most of the crap thats played on the radio!

  • Wow, a killer version from my favorite Springsteen album !

  • Dont know why 9 people would dislike this... This is a modern masterpiece, and collaboration of two great artists

  • I wonder at how musicians like Morello and many others can bitch about the evils of capitalism while they make their millions from it.

  • @fuzzman1000 I think the support's great. Better than being ignorant of struggling everyday Americans. I'll be honest. I'm very lucky as my family is stable, I have healthcare, I'm grateful for a college education etc. I mean I'm not rich but I get by alright. That doesn't mean I'm not angry about all the other millions of Americans who don't even have the basic rights they deserve. Solidarity my brother/sister :)

  • This is odd not the music but the pair

  • What I love about this song is how two generations of musicians play in harmony. Springsteen with his old type muddy sounding guitar. Morelli with the crystal clear Ibanez sound. Together they play this song like one. :)

  • The ghost of Tom Joad is haunting Wall St... Occupy Wall Street! We are the 99%! YOU are the 99%. We're fighting to be free from corporate greed run amok and their government accomplices. The ghost of Tom Joad is with us. Will you be?

  • This is beyond beautiful!

  • @usernameVEVO

i just went to the bathroom

  • Great to see 2 generations of excellent musicians play together.

  • Pissed off with the shaving commercial..mind you..I scrape my face too! Bruce & Tom are the BEST on this!

  • 5:22

    epic fucking fail

  • Wow...what a killer rendition of a classic song. Very Powerful.

  • No words to describe this duet! If the lyrics, and the fictional character asociated with are of an imense beauty, the music here performed lives up to the lyrics! I am overwhelmed!

  • Saw Tom morello play at the Southampton Guildhall yesterday, played this song and i loved it. Tom and Bruce are legendary!

  • @Stubbsy129 It was amazing O.O. He even did it with his mouth O.O

  • @benjef Did that in Leeds too when he played with Rise Against the other week.

  • trop trop puissant !! J'prend mon pied rien qu'à voir le bonheur qu'ils éprouvent à jouer !! Je kiff total !!

  • is this the original video that was always it before it became VEVO, I recall a longer solo after bruce sings and before tom starts and the video doesn't seem to match up, it fades briefly after bruce finishes that first verse then tom starts. Who is playing the guitar there? What's being played doesn't sync with either tom or bruce.

  • Springsteen (Fantastic musician) wrote this as a tribute to JOHN STEINBECK? The Grapes of Wrath is a novel published in 1939 and written by John Steinbeck, who was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1940 and the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962. The Grapes of Wrath is frequently read in American high school and college literature classes due to its historical context and enduring legacy. A celebrated Hollywood film version, starring Henry Fonda and directed by John Ford, was made in 1940.

  • 6:11 for the solo.

  • @satan112 He was amazing wasn't he? I was there.

  • 7.20 is just fuc king insane!

  • vevo sux...stick ur commercials up ur...

  • Tom Morello = Tom Joad

  • Vocally he's miles worse than Springsteen. But boy he can play that guitar.

  • Tom Morrello is greatly underrated. He is in my opinion one of the tom 5 guitarist of all time.

  • @lowsbody Hes underrated? thats news to me?! hes won many guitars players and choice awards

  • @faqyaself He's won awards but he's still underrated.

  • @PeteBaldwin thats somewhat of a paradox. I have to disagree with you. Hes never been underrated, as long as I can remember hes been revered as one the greats right next to henrdrix, dimebag, stevie ray voughn, eddie van halen, slash, etc.. hes been in the guitar hero video game series, a compliment and honor in itself. he reinvented our modern concepts of guitar and effects pedals. hes been on the cover of numerous magazines and sold out show after show. underrated?! pfff

  • @faqyaself did u seriously just say guitar hero is an honor?!?

  • @yanksbeatbosox the point i was making is that I disagreed that morello is underrated. if he were so underrated how could he be featured in the guitar hero series? In every magazine or article i have ever read, from day 1 hes been mentioned and credited for reinventing the guitar with the likes of eddie van halen, dimebag, etc.. hes never been underrated. look at their album sales! both RATM and audioslave.. its speeks for itself.

  • @faqyaself I dont think album sales really determine if a musician is underrated or not. He is not underrated I agree. A guitarist I would consider very underrated is J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. That being said the popularity of a band can help in a musician being well known or not, but I don't think that is the same as him being overrated or underrated.

  • @lowsbody I dont think so .. one aweesome perfomance does not make him in the top5 .. maybe top30.

  • @lowsbody VERY generous of Bruce to sing harmony on his own song, you know? Class act.

  • What festival it is?

  • @jggprj Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame I guess.

  • TOM MORELLO THE GOD

  • I don't often comment on You Tube but The Ghost of Tom Joad , Jungleland and Thunder Road must be some of the finest lyrical songs that have ever been written. A true testament to the brilliance of Mr Bruce Springsteen.

  • Comment removed

  • Where is the original video gone?

  • Stunningly awesome performance, and not everything is a damn competition, stay level headed and enjoy the fucking performance.

  • tom morello is absolutly insane. his solos are epic

  • haven't seen those guitar moves before, hall of fame for sure. These two are dynamite together

  • @Lunavoff This was actually at the hall of fame concert, i was there

  • Who did not like this music deserves to take slap in the face .. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! OMG!

  • maybe if everybody said the advertisers were faggots, we wouldnt see so many ads . hey! guess what you advertising faggots...I will never buy your shit ....fuck you!

  • Amazing:) Morello is killing me.Bruce always the boss!

  • The look on Springsteens face at 6:39 .... priceless

  • I never would have thought that i would ever see/hear a mixture like this (I am a RATM fan and grew up listen to Springsteen so i know both venues). And it was GREAT, AWESOME, CHILLING.......simply marvelous.

  • Bruce's original portray's the sadness and despair, RATM's cover portray's the anger and frustration. Both are amazing, and this performance is even better!

  • Legendary!

  • Oh my god..Absolutely Perfect !!!

  • I am in complete awe, every time I watch this video I choke up because Bruce and Tom are so beautiful together, so pure ! Tom's guitar solo at the end is out of this world ! Unbelievable !

  • Morello is not a guitarist. He's a guit-art-ist.

  • 238k views, Those persons who saw Morello solo are lucky! Lol.

  • Welcome to the New World Order

  • Magnificent song. Greatest guitar solo of all times.

  • Love them both, amazing performance.

  • I'm so glad I was able to be at this concert. I saw my first Bruce concert when I was 10. 4 years later, I can say now I have seen 3 Bruce concerts, and this is one of them. This was a great concert to watch.

  • Bloody Awesome!!!

  • Welcome to the New World Order

  • UBER EPIC!

  • I just saw Tom perform this song in NYC@The City Winery! The HBO 25th HOF concert was the 1st time I had ever heard of Tom Morello after Bruce introduced him and then after I watched their performance, I was so amazed with Tom, I had to research him and find out who this amazing musician was. I thought he was new. And then I got his CD, One Man Revolution, I knew that I would see him Live one day, and I did on 9-1-2011. And I was on stage with him! I uploaded 3 video's from that concert to UTube

  • 4000furious; are you stupid? Rage only covered that song. Bruce springsteen wrote it, you stupid fuck

  • That was amazing.

  • This a great video. Some people play the guitar and others "are" the guitar. Morello is one of those people. Garcia, Clapton, Page and Hendrix were/are like that also.

  • Bruce played a solo! OMG, that's awesome!

  • @MariTheAwesome11

Yeah, it's scary (Holding breathe for the young that dont know shit) and when sir do you take credit for scaring people?

  • Tom's perfomance here was great; his performance at the HOF concert on the same song was even greater and more epic. Check that one out.

  • oh my god i so love this song!! go on bruce!!! and well what can i say about tom, fucking awesome!! shivers down the spine, every time.

  • @Mari, to understand the meaning of this song would be helped by reading Steinbeck's book, The Grapes of Wrath upon which this song is based. In short, it's about the poor treatment that the Oakies and the Arkies etc. faced when they travelled to the central valley of California in search of work after the devestation from the dust bowl.

  • fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck me, dude. I love this video!

  • i dont like bruce springsteen but i like tom morello

  • Silly Vevo :P The O in Of should be lowercase :P

  • When I heard the first notes of Tom Joad I thought it might be time for a bathroom break - there's always at least one (Factory/Mansion etc.). Man, I am glad I didn't leave. By the end everybody around me was shaking their heads. We knew we'd seen something unbelievable, even by Bruce's high standards. Next song played was Devil's Arcade. Talk about bring the mood down - tells me Bruce had no idea what Morello had in store! Interestingly, I didn't think Night 2's version was quite as strong.

  • Tom should stick to guitar his voice ruins this song

  • This is freaking amazing!

  • mmmm jenial me en }canta esta cansion mas por que morello i so mescla de otras cancianes he iso que sonara bien

  • this video is gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooD

  • R.I.P Clarence Clemons!

  • This version is just unbelievable. Epic! I´ve watched this at least 100 times now. It just gets better and better.

  • I was there both nights. I had the feeling that the first night Bruce was as shocked as anyone there at the guitar solo. It was great, they also played "Trapped" the first night. We just watched them in Portland and drove to Orange County to see them two more times. 2008 was a great year.

  • Amazing. Just.....freakin brilliant.

  • I love Bruce's face at 6:37! I can't listeni to this song once. I have to hit reply like 3 times

  • I love Bruce's face at 6:37!

  • Tom Morello has a very nice voice. Fits this song really well.
