  • it sees from the vid that the front rider did give up position slightly in favor of safety but the following rider stayed wide, something i was picked up on on my last RoSPA smart training day.I stayed out wide on a 90deg left hand bend and as a result was way to close to the centre of the road on exit. if a car had been coming the other way at the same time ????. give up position for safety !!!

  • @flowerm4n - Safety first everytime........

  • A nice vid, love France, thanks for posting.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmm

    twats

  • I think whwn riders have been shown the the technique of staying out wide for a better view they actually just use it all the time to go faster or slower and less banked over.

What would be wrong with a bit of compromise on the being out position and just go a bit slower but cut to the inside quickly and have a large buffer.

After all, one advantage we have is that we COULD avoid a head on where a car couldn'Comments please

  • A very valid point.

What tends to happen on these clips is you often don't hear some of the commentary, my fault with the editing. This clip - there was not much commentary but throughout the day I had been saying

    1. Position for view ONLY IF SAFE.

So if there is an oncoming vehicle come off line and reduce speed. Create a larger Buffer.

My motto - Ride to Arrive.

  • @advancedbiker It's funny that you even bring that up how safe you drive. Since most the motorcycle videos I see are doing wheelies at high speed, stoppies, and brake standing burnouts. Many of them wearing non protective gear.

  • Why am I not surprised. We had a discussion of an earlier video where you advocated to stay wide to see and argued against me and my slow down and buffer away.

Never never never give up your buffer - for no one and nothing.

In the straight ahead and in corners, guarantee your self if the oncoming comes to your side of the road you wouldn't get hit. If you can't swerve or stop within the distance you can see, don't be there.

  • well a prime example of why you should place your self close to the white line in corners. if that car had to. had been swerving for something its would have taken both those bikers out. there was no reason to be there you can clearly see of the grass verge so obscured view isnt a reason for being there they should have been placed more to the centre of the lane

  • Like it, the lyrics of the song just say it all.

  • At 1m21s they were a wee bit close, safety over position - everyday!! I realise you've repeated this section later on in the vid.

  • "get it right NEXT TIME" - it's always nice to have that luxury!

  • We did have a few words afterwards......

  • Could he have looked further into the turn? The camera angle does make it difficult to see whether he could have seen the vehicle earlier and moved inside a bit.

What would be a better way to handle this turn?

  • quality video, amazed at the good road surfaces over there.

  • I have never come across a bad road in Normandy, well maintained and they have little use. Graet for motorcyclining, but can not rely on the weather, not like yourself..........

  • yeah the weathers good here, the summers can be a bit severe though, certainly a different attituide to biking a lot of cruisers around and open face helmets(aaarrrhh),you can ride a bike all year round as no ice on ground, country roads at night can be dangerous as roo's act like rabbits but hitting them can be fatal.Keep up the great videos

  • Yikes !
