The world is overpopulated and people should be focusing on themselves and their community or if they want a child they should adopt. The orphaned children of the world are neglected and most never have homes. the government and religion need to get out of the relationship business. if I love someone thats for me and the person to intimately share together. we can announce our partnership/companionship to the world in any way we want or no way at all.

I understand what you are saying and why you want the word but it is your stubborn pride that keeps both gays and straights in the dark. All words and their meanings are not real. We made it all up. Their meanings change with time and depending on the language of the place. Example flatmate vs roommate or better yet fag means bundle of sticks and gay used to mean happy. It is absurd to deny anyone their rights based on a word or to not want rights because the wording is wrong. If two people are allowed to love each other and be recognized as a couple with all the identical rights of all couples that should be enough.
As i have said before the evidence proves that civil unions are not equal to marriage in terms of social acceptance, and they never will be. Marriage is a word, yes. However it is a word that has alot of meaning to the LGBT community. Many LGBT people are already married by religious leaders. It is time we give them their marriages legally. Finally would you trade your marriage for out civil union? I highly doubt it. Social acceptance is just as important as rights. CUs don't provide that.
Also, as you stated civil marriage. This is what we want. Churches that condone SSM will still hold weddings and all that jazz, but yes Civil Marriage is what we seek and we will not settle for anything else. I hope as a supporter you too will support us in our cause to attain civil marriage and not the segregated civil union. Thank you and take care my friend.
In France, They have religious marriage and civil marriage. As I understand it, only the civil marriage gives rights and the religious marriage is just for the people in the particuliar faith. The government can never force churches of any faith to perform any type of marriage. My sister is marrying a catholic and she can't get married in his church because she won't convert. That is their constitutional right. I personally think its silly to have such violence over a word that is make believe.

Anything else than marriage, even with the same rights and benefits, is not marriage, and is not equal, but separate and unequal. it is a separate institution created to allow people to hold on to their heterosexual privileged while subversively continuing to oppress LGBT people.
There has been empirical evidence that shows that even when given all the same rights and benefits of marriage, civil unions, are still considered less than marriage, less of a commitment, and less human. Many violations have gone unchecked to "civil unioned" spouses, because of social acceptance of civil unions is that of something far below marriage. Also When you allow everyone to get a civil union but only allow heterosexual couple get married that is still segregation and must not stand.
um sure yeah. i dont care people can be gay if they want. i just hate when guys hit on me....its really fucking gross......and it makes my girlfriend angry.....but yeah other than that it really dont matter to me! be as gay as you like!
We've had legal gay marriage in Canada for several years now and as it happened we had the same naysayers claiming the sky would fall. The sky is still up there here in Canada, the weather has been a bit iffy but the sky is fine.
