Dont get me wrong. Scott Stapp Seriously disappointed me with his solo album, not because it was bad music but because it is completely an anti-MyOwnPrison lyrical disaster. It completely contradicts what the whole My Own Prison album was all about lyrically. He goes from Protesting contradicting Christian theologies without mercy to completely ignoring any issue he had with it to begin with.
Check out the sick keyboardist from The Crystal Ship, the Doors cover band. Look up "Light my fire cover - the doors." The guy from Crystal Ship crushes that solo! Better than Ray does.
Ray's solo sounds like the same noise over and over. It goes nowhere, unlike his studio version. Paul Schaffer from Letterman's show could crush that solo, as he did Del Shannon's for "Runaway." Paul has perfect pitch and is a great keyboardist. Very underrated.
@DexterHaven49 You're totally right about Schaffer, but I don't know that Manzarak is much worse here than on the record. He never was much of a soloist, and he certainly hasn't developed as a musician since the record first was released. Krieger, on the other hand, sounds great here, building on what he did on record. And his solos were always more fluid and more imaginative than Ray's. And let's give Densmore some recognition, too -- a rock drummer with a jazz drummer's inventiveness.
