  • I just bought this game - two of them for me and my mate - looked soo cool and all...

But the Auto-aiming is a serious screw-up. I just need to keep enemy within range and more or less within big circle in the middle of the screen. He can dodge, change angles, speeds, doesnt matter. Gets whole bunch right up in the arse.I'm so bloody dissapointed i bought it. Such a lame feature, takes all pleasure of combat away. I could turn MDTS off, but still it auto aims, just within smaller circle.Crap :(

  • 2:00 i almost cried.

  • I think the answers to both questions is yes: 1 - Can you fly around the entire planet while being in its atmosphere? 2 - Is it possble to have dogfights inside a planet's atmosphere?

  • I liked the part where she said "warning, low altitude"

  • Looks like a good game.

  • Just a heads up, I think you were at a low altitude there.

  • @Ode1029 Lol

  • @Ode1029 umm still thinking i need more of a warning just in case ;)

  • Evochron Mercenary: Because Infinity Isn't Out Yet.

  • is it just me, or does the time hes decending on the planet look like something out of doom?

  • Mad love for the pple who made this, only downside i think is the design, i think its a great idea and all but the object design is on the extremelyugly side, maybe a design team would be appropriate?

Lets hope they get it going, either that or eve becomes as cool as this with cockpit views and losing the stargates then im sold.

  • Welcome to planet Shit Weather.

  • @DevilKnowing so England?

  • Can you walk. on land..?

  • Hey in this game can I fly my ship anywhere on a planet? or are planets restricted to certain places?

  • @Jebact If you see it, you can fly to it. You can even fly out of the galaxy and look down on it. But yes, you can enter anywhere on the planet, and fly anywhere on the planet.

  • @Jebact Nope, neither the planets nor the space is restricted. you can even fly from one solar system to another without jumping if you want to ;D

  • finally. it took ~20 years and a space simulator could fly into the atmosphere and over the surface of a planet - again! well done evochron for taking us back to where we started. let's see how many space simulation fans are out there and who knows what I am talking about - and yes I know this is not 100% simulation per se, but just play along, will you? the game looks really fun, let's see if it is as fun as Freelancer. I miss Freelancer (that's not the 1st game I was talking about btw)

  • @SokSa i think you are talking about elite but the first elite wasend whit landing on planet i think the pc version had this includet ^^

  • @0Armand0 dude... kudos... the more correct one where it was actual planet landing with true atmospheric changes and cities on the surface was Frontier: Elite II. Elite was the one that opened the door and Elite II just blew us away. And the year? Check this out: 1993. I actually played the game on both Amiga 500 and 386dx PC :)) I am still surprised it took so much and the graphics still look shitty after two decades :))

  • @SokSa Yeah I loved that game.. and it came on two floppy discs :)

  • @SokSa

True, but take a look at Infinity Universe for a game like this that actually looks good. Still a WIP and will be for a long time, but promising.

  • @Vire70 dude!!!! that game is amazing. thank you so much for pointing me in that direction. I would pay a $100 for that game, I want it that much. this is what a modern space simulation should be capable of in this century. this is the stuff. brilliant, just brilliant. beautiful transition, even the wind effect is there (good old elite II and its wind effects :) remember, in the landing dock? :)

  • @SokSa

Yeah I know, Infinity is so exciting... it's everything a modern game like this should be. It's sort of both sad and invigorating that it's done mostly by one guy too - I mean, on the one hand it's possible it'll never be completed, but on the other hand if it ever is it isn't going to be the rushed commercial garbage that most modern games wind up as.

I can't say I ever played Elite 1/2 although I've read extensively about them. It's weird how the games industry can go backwards.

  • @SokSa

Also be sure to check out his video if you haven't already.

    tinyurl(dot)com/769x8b3

Apparently it's not being developed as a game anymore, but as an engine to license to game companies. I suppose that's just as good, if there's several companies making games from this engine I'd be very happy.

  • @Vire70 well. financially he's done the right thing; that's for sure. let's just hope someone would develop something on it. I've been combing through his site last night and he's done some incredible things with the physics engine; they're simple but the way he put them together is quite impressive. hah! I would pay for the part of the game on that video even! it's that good.

  • WINVISTEN WANT!

  • what is the name of the simulator?

  • Comment removed

  • Surely I can't be the only one who's noticed that these planets are tiny and have a VERY low stratosphere... Please tell me someone else has noticed this, lol...

  • @gimmeaneffinnamenow

    O_O

    You're right! AAAARGH, MY IMMERSION!

  • @gimmeaneffinnamenow

Yeah... it looks a bit more like a large asteroid or a small moon. Realistically this 'planet' is significantly smaller than our moon, and Earth itself isn't a large planet.

  • Ok am sold buying this.

  • Evochron Mercenary or freelancer?

  • Very atmospheric game, I think I'll purchase it one day.

  • Questions I have, please help kind Sirs:

#1 Is this game a single person player, or an online mmo?

#2 How long has this game been released?

#3 Is there a lot of ship/ship equipment customization?

#4 Are there lots of Solar Systems/Planets?

#5 Are there lots of Missions/Different Plays Styles?

  • @LegendaryGoldDragon online!!! free...

  • @LegendaryGoldDragon

    1. Singleplayer And Multiplayer

    2. Recently, but each game is a different version with gameplay expansions

    3. You can customize the design and look of your ship, including the location of some of the parts.

    4. Yes, you can fly across the entire galaxy with no load times.

    5. Yes, you can play as a mercenary, a racer, a trader, a combat pilot, and anything else.

  • @chriscos123 6)Is the game so ugly from start to finish ? 7)Isn't there a decent story ?

  • @youteubee69 It's indie, so it doesn't look great, but the graphics arn't bad at all.

As for story, its not anything to write home about, but it gives you some nice loot.

  • @chriscos123 More questions: 1: Is multiplayer the same map as singleplayer?

2: Are the quests (if any) really good? or are they really generic?

3: Say I'm a combat pilot/mercenary, how much of the game would be actual combat?

4: How realistic are the controls?

5: Should I buy this game?

  • @Deliphin11

There are quests, generic but varied

There is much combat to be had in this game

    The controls are very realistic.

    Do more research on it.

  • @chriscos123 Thanks, and okay.

  • @Deliphin11 i dont know from which year this is but graphics from freespace2 aer way better

  • @Deliphin11 when u look for a good space combat simulator go try freespace2 open

its a game from before year 2000 but the developes made the engine public so it got edited to a level im purely amazed with (over 10 GB of graphicupgrades and a shitload of campaigns most of them just cool). And the main story is really epic. i mean really really epic. this is only a combat simulator u wont find unnecessary travalling or trading. and hey its like 5 bugs when downloading it.

  • @SHuffleHardDieTryinG Already own Freespace 1&2, but I like to have my options open. Although I actually like a little trading, as it helps me get ahead in the game, although if its a LOT of trading like an MMO, then I kinda hate it. Look up Starflight for the Sega Genesis, if that game was in 3D and had a cockpit, it would be my dream game. It includes minor trading and exploration. Although the AI on that game sucks ass. I literally, to test it, sat in one spot, and-

  • @Deliphin11 and waited to see how long it took for it to hit me. every 10 shots it fired, one hit me. it took over 4 minutes to kill me. I sat there in one position, not dodging, not attacking back. In the game, you can fall and crash into a planet, it bounces you up and does minor damage, its faster to die that way than with the enemies, because falling takes about 2 minutes to kill you.

  • Lol according to the alto-meter the buildings are about 7km high.

  • @josiahct Well, in the future they probably use that as a way of packing high populations into small spaces :P

  • @DrWhiteGlint 7k ups almost in space... I wish I lived in the future!!! :D

  • @josiahct makes sense you have spacedocks on the upper reaches of the buildings :).....just like some of warhammer 40k's hive cities

  • Could you, in some case scenario, enter a planet's atmosphere extremely quickly and face burn-up in atmospheric entry?

  • @CatalystCaesium yes you can and if you move to much your burn up and explode

  • @CatalystCaesium I've done that.

  • No clouds? And yet it's raining...

  • Woah! Seamless transition into the middle of a thunderstorm? How cool is that! I got chills watching and listening. Dude, your video just sold me on this game!

  • @goopah

Look up the Infinity Tech Demo if you wanna be surprised.

  • @hellomate639 Infinity looks awesome, except I don't do MMOs. SP only for me, and offline.

  • @goopah

There will be a singleplayer version of it.

  • @DornDaniel In that case, I look forward to it!

  • anyway to turn off that "Warning low altitude" thing, it gets annoying

  • there's a tech demo of a game with similar setting, called Infinity. Many similarities between the evochron series and the Infinity project, both are basically designed and programmed by only one person, both are free roam space sandbox games, both feature a seamless universe and seamless planetary descents.

Infinity just aims one step further, with the automatic generation of new solar systems as players explore them.

  • @WeriTR ''

Infinity is more than one step further. It's a few steps further.

  • I hope you could remove the HUD, because the screen is rather cramped with all those details. It looks great, but Im waiting for the PIONEER remake of FFE.

The weather is a nice touch.

  • Does these games have day-night cycles and proper planetary orbits etc? Or are the planets locations etc all completely static?

  • @Gargantou Yes,there is planetary rotations, and day-night cycles. Pretty much realistic, try to enter gas giant or come too close to star or black hole and you will see what will happen :)

  • @Darko2625 Sweet, too few games do things that way these days, even though they were done in the great old Frontier: Elite 2 and Frontier: First Encounters!

  • looks good.. wat graphics card and settings are u playing on? cuz the graphics on training videos and trailer looked much better.. other than dat.. good video.. i want dis game!
