@raptordiablo all AR's that I know of allow you to rack the charging handle & chamber a round while on safe. It's a bit of a safety feature. That way the last thing you do before pulling the trigger is flip it to fire. After you've verified your target & taken aim.
Sweet mother don't put your airsoft junk on your real rifle it won't last and its cheaper for a reason if you ask alot of rifle guys how much they paid for a good scope it almost costs half to as much sometimes more than the gun ifself but equipment doesn't mean your going to shoot any better it helps but the only thing that will help your shooting is practice practice like that guy said, just buy lots of ammmo and magazines, gadgets look kewl but if you can't shoot for shit its pretty useless
I had the same sling adapter for before i switched to my Magpul ASAP. Before, i just had a piece of 550 chord and tied it to both sides so that i had a single point of attachment for my sling. i'm a big tactical buff and i try to be good at shooting from both shoulders and I prefer the ambidextrous capability so that I can switch from right to left shoulder when I have to clear my own home (if ever) and have to strafe past a door to achieve the best angle of engagement.

I have a permanetly mounted front tower sight on my ar, with a removeable carry handle, i have an eotech 512 where the handle was. if i got rear BUIS will that be compatible with the standard tower?
@1149037danny If your front sight if just a standard "F" marked then yes it will. That is more than likely what you have so it will work. The problem though is operating the buttons on a 512 with the sight flipped up is tough. I think the eotech model 516 or 517 is the same thing as the 512 but with the buttons on the side. If I ever get another AR it will have A.R.M.S. polymer back-ups on it. You should try the A.R.M.S. 40L, it is a really nice backup.
A "sporting" rifle and a fighting rifle are two different things. They need to be setup differently. If you are into sport shooting, whatever that is, then go for it. People have been killing each other with firearms long before red dots and rails or gun magazines came out.
A shotgun has a very limited role but it is one of if not the best for most cqb type stuff. It is my choice for home defense but it is not a rifle. Two different tools.

So how often do you use a forward assist and what makes you know when you need to use it? I'm getting an ar15 and have never shot one before so I'm not too familiar with the forward assist. I know what it does but I was told you are supposed to use it every magazine.
The forward assist usually needs to be used after doing a "brass check". The reason for that is that pulling the charging handle only partially back to check to see if a round is chambered might cause the round to not chamber again.
The forward assist pokes the right side of the bolt carrier and just presses it forward all the way back into the chamber. You do not have to hit the forward assist every time you put a new magazine in. Infact, that is completely fucking retarted. If an AR-15 needs to use the forward assist every time than it is time to clean your rifle. You need to spend the same amount on training that you are going to spend on that rifle.

It is a piece of hardware that holds two magazines side by side. It allows you to reload faster and always have a magazine on the rifle even if it is not loaded. Not a stupid question.
I honestly do not remember now. You can get them at Tactical Resposne Gearstore and I have also had good luck with Operation Parts. The eotech 516 has the controls on the side and are easier for the user to control.. I would have got that model but it was not out yet.

Everyone runs aimpoint micros on the ak now. They are mounted on ultimak which takes the place of the gas tube.Running your reddot forward also helps if you are cross eye dominant. I am right handed but left eye dominant. I put my eotech as far forward as possible on my AR now. I am hosting a Suarez class at my house in a few months. It will be Force on Force.

That is a good question. It is kind of a personal preference, but I think alot of people misuse them most of the time. I use them for more of a reference point and do not put a death grip on it. I generally have my trigger finger and thumb on the handguard/rail.
They are really helpful when walking long distances so you can hold the rifle sideways.
It has the accuracy for longer range shooting with the proper configuration and bullet. The 556/223 just does not have alot of energy at extended ranges.
I am not sure about the DC snipers but I think they had a bushmaster.
