Yup, the 44 cu 2cycl I have w/ exp chbrs works well, and the 700 cc alcohol 2cycl also uses exp chbrs ...with a combustion chamber more suited to chambers. Problem with some Mercs is the comb ch is not well suited to exp chbrs...they still work well if correctly engineered, but not that much different from megaphones. Megaphones =more suitable for racing outboards, since NO TRANSMISSION, so the motor has to breath well over a wider rpm range than is the case for bikes WITH TRANSMISSIONS.
if you get custom tunned pipes that match port size/timing and bore/stroke you'll kill the same engine with megaphones look up two stroke expansion chambers. its a lot of calculations to get good results from them but no mistake they are worth it im getting some for my vintage cycle. its like supercharging a two stroke with'em
motor is a 25ss mercury....the come up for sale from time to time on ebay for $1500-2000. Pipes are for a Yamaha banshee...lower rpm than some. Pipes also are a standard ebay item. We cut, rewelded and stuck 'em on this for the sake of art. Mebbe it'll go faster, mebbe not. But it's the only one like it, so we get an A for art?
