  • i never heard the term laid up but I think I understand it means staying there and not doing anything? that is a shame

  • Yes the term laid up means the ships is just staying and doing nothing, waiting for cargo to ship. This ship itself has been in this spot for over 2 years.

  • @GreatLakesShips She is now parked on the Windsor side near Morton Terminal. I saw her today on a bike ride in that area and decided to look up the name.

  • Nice post! Shame to see ships doing nothing as the previous comment pointed out. All the best, Mark:-)

  • @thecaptainjones Thanks for watching, your comments are appreciated.

  • GLS, would you have any idea the amount of lakers laid up due too the economy slowdown? Also how long ago was it that the Sarah Spencer was converted too Barge/Tug?

  • canadiantimberwolf1, 30 lakers did not sail this year. The barge Sarah Spencer started its Great Lakes career as the powered steamer Adam E. Cornelius. In 1989 it was bought by Great Lakes Transport of Halifax and converted into a barge.

  • 30 lakers...Oh My God, it almost reminds me of a time in the 90's when things got really slow.Wow.... How long have you been ship watching the Great Lakes?

  • @canadiantimberwolf1, I have been ship watching for 7 years, started filming last year.

  • Nice vid. I hate to see ships and machine laid up or park for long periods. This thing should be cruisen the GL's.

  • @Xx69roadrunnerxX Thanks
