Damn! I have read about the red dust storms in sydney but I didn't actually believe it until I saw your video. Some stories I put down to "Tall Tales" but this one, and your video about the flying foxes, have made me a believer. Your videos are fascinating! I love your blogs but you can't beat these vids - red storms and flying bats are things they never show you on travel shows, am I right? Merry Christmas! -Rob
Thank you Rob. We are still getting dust over Sydney every westerly wind. Not nearly as dramatic as the red dust storm. Australian places in the bush and outback are used to dust storms, but this one was bright blood red. It was really quite a wake-up call that something isn't right. Yeah, the bats in the aread are really something. There are so many things that they don't show you in the tourist brochures. They also don't show the botanic gardens full of so many cockatoo, many of which can talk
The British used Australia as their testing site in the 1950s. Mainly Maralinga. Yes, it must be Earthquake weather. Melbourne had 2 Earthquakes that night, and this week, Samoa which is influenced by the Australian continental shelf when it moves. The Australian continental shelf moves north into Indonesia causing their Tsunami, the NZ and Antarctic shelves are moving south and west.
Not necessarily. I thing the Australian continental shelf is still moving. They scientists are saying that it is not over yet and predicting more soon.
What an odd sky. I saw one once like this in Los Angeles, on one day in the late Seventies... also like the sky in the film NIGHT OF THE COMET... they called it earthquake weather.... of course you guys don't get nearly as many of those as we do in California... thanks for showing this...
I was watching a current affair ( like the dork i am) and i thought that i heard that the dust was a natural cause... but its hard to believe, i mean... what the frak? it couln't have just... randomly blown to Sydney?
It certainly didn't look natural to me. No one thought it looked natural. I don't many people, if they are honest, believe that it is natural. Especially if you saw how irridescent the red was.
That is possible. The dust came from South Australia in their dessert. What is there? Woomera and Pine Gap. US military bases where they do all kings of experiments. The worst thing is the area where the dust is from is MARALINGA. spelling? That is where the British did nuclear testing. The dust is probably radioactive! I'm not kidding. Now you mention it, it probably is radio active from the nuclear bomb testing sites. But why would the want us all to get cancer?
It is also possible they did an underground bomb test, and that kicked up the dust into the wind. The dust is from the nuclear testing site. The more I think of it, the more sinister it looks.
i HAD NO IDEA THE MILITARY DID NUCLEAR TESTS IN AUSTRALIA.. I AM SO GLAD YOU DID!!! I doubt ths was a "natural cause." Natural causes are usually a common occurrence so why is this not common? Because this was man-made. Somehow, some way.
I can't think of one reason the British would want my Australian relatives to get cancer... besides envy at their losing a prison colony and having it become a superpower... ill feeling towards them rebelling on the rum... or a half Aussie blonde singing a song about rum rebellions at Christmastime with a wellknown Aussie YouTuber named Saintfletcher
Um. I dunno. They change them around. There are 2 down there. There are lots of new recruits training at the moment. You can see them knocking off at about 4pm, walking up Wilde street with their overalls...
Yeah, I see what you're saying. Sydney is about as far away from the outback as you can get. The only other place within Australia is Tasmania. Otherwise, it's New Zealand... But this does not happen very often. Maybe once ever 60 years. Or is it?
Thank you. But that is a long time in a retirement village haha. Hopefully they will have a cure for old age by then, or at least make it more pleasant.
The wind came past Adelaide creating a huge storm here, roofs were blown off houses & there were hail stones the size of golf balls, it then blew through Broken Hill & picked up the red dust, on it's way to the east coast.
It was here alright, before dawn. It's windy now, I guess it could get windier. Melbourne had an earthquake this morning, someone said. I little shake, but enogh to wake people up...
saw the red dust strom on tv thought i would drop by and see how the hell are ya? im just thinking now if it rains it will be muddy rain blessings of love and lightsaw the red dust strom on tv thought i would drop by and see how the hell are ya? im just thinking now if it rains it will be muddy rain hopeful it will clear soon?
If a dance like a JediNun out there, I'd be the flying nun. The winds are over 100 kmph on Potts Point. People are clutching fences to walk around under the red sky.

Dust from nuke sites? Oh dear. Wait, I thought Australia didn't have nukes? They're testing?

That seems to make sense. That volcanic ring that goes from Indonesia up and around to our west coast then to South America... we are next in line!

It will take about 5 hours to blow over. It might be diluted by the time it gets there hopefully.
