@poodle8noodle Togakure is an old pronunciation of Togakushi, which is a region in Japan that does in fact exist. The Kanji are the same, only the pronunciation is different. The meaning of Togakure is "Hidden Door". The meaning however of Tomo is more elusive. Not positive on the meaning, but I know they're different. Tomoryu is listed in historical documents as related to Ninjutsu, but to my knowledge there are no records showing it's lineage to modern times. It's a dead school!

@ExposeChosunNinja Yes, Togakushi sits on the shores of Lake Nojiri in Nagano. In fact, the Lake Nojiri and Togakushi village in Nagano are a recreation of the same site found in Kyushu. The original lake Nojiri (in Kyushu) has the actual cave that Amaterasu hid inside. The name Togakushi refers to Amaterasu hiding behind the large stone door to the cave.. thus "hidden behind the door". Later, in Nagano, the named a lake Lake Nojiri and the village Togakushi..

The entire Lake Nojiri / Togakushi area is a "stand-in" for the Amaterasu hiding in the cave event. --- so, its not a Region, but an actual town built around a recreation (stand-in like effigy) for the original shrine... and it sits on Lake Nojiri in Nagano. That is the meaning of the name. If you already knew, then cool.

@ExposeChosunNinja Yes, the mountain is a mountain that is on the shoreline of Lake Nojiri.. it sits on Lake Nojiri.. the town is there in the "foothills" and into the mountain. The Togakushi Shrine is actually a three piece shrine.. it starts on the ground and you walk up stairs (up the mountain side) to get to the second and third parts.

A) Dean claimed to ALREADY HAVE the book and shodo. Houzan sending anything wasn't in the mix.

B) If you read the image, you would see he was going to send it out that wed or thurs.

C) I've ordered shuriken from him before. The time before this it took about 3 weeks, not 9 months.

Ask Dean if he has ever had legal action against him for this? I know this one.

If you couldn't tell that was a stab at Dean by the way. I was dumb enough to think that Adam Davis was at fault back when he made shuriken for Dean, but now I sincerely doubt it. Maybe partially, but I could see Dean just keeping the products and not sending any money.

He told me his producer only makes about 100 per week and Scott received orders for more than 2000 shuriken, thats a lot of weeks. I was talking about HNRT and the shit we catch for distinguishing between bullshit ninja fantasy and actual Japanese history (or anybody else who presents accurate authentic Japanese history). 95% of the "ninja community" wants bullshit and the role of the historian is to present facts and real history... which means that a historian immediatly finds himself in opposition to the fantasy, and thus becomes unpopular very fast.

I think the state of the field (lack of understanding and lack of historical information,etc.etc.) allows nutjobs to conjure up fake schools and live out their meglomaniac fantasies. Hopefully, with the combined effort of historians and sincere practioners, we can weed out and do away with these malicious frauds.

But I think that the distance between Japan and the USA has, until recently, given them enough space to engineer their bullshit. When people try to mimic NDN stuff, we generally show up at their front door. So, I think the distance of Japan (physically, socially, and culturally) allows them to prey on the shinobi legacy.

Do a vid on Kawakami and his claim. He claims Tomo ryu aswell (indirectly of course) Also, Seiko can be put there as the first claiment for fake Koka ryu. Idiot was walking on water and could not even read his own manual. But heho. Jolly good. Glad you are back dean. Tomo ryu pops up here and there in history but why does everyone want to be a grandmaster? I want to state that i am NOt a supporter of Kawakami, but i am not 100% sure he has nothing real, i know he has lots of strange stuff.

@ninpo4life He teaches lots of real ninjutsu, no doubt there, but then he starts hitting his students with Iron Lung Kung Fu and passes it off as ninjutsu, then Kiai power and the age old shuriken and straight sword (no connection to ninja). Also, half of his stuff is research, not Kuden, so where does lineage and research end? And why the sterotypes, beteer than Bujinkan as a lineage but still strange. Too many warning flags.
