Well. When i mean goal i mean objective. Objectives basically are supposed to say "students will be able to.." by saying "teach transitional sentences" it shows what your getting across but not necessarily how the students will learn. So stating something like "students will be able to recognize transitional sentences" would be more of a goal. There also needs to be an activity whether it be a worksheet or some kind of game and then a wrap up.
Ok. The point of the TFA 5 min presentation is to see if u cud have a beginning, middle, end, result and an assessment in 5 minutes. One problem is you dont necessarily have a goal. You have one minute to prepare, so maybe chart paper with lyrics on it with the actual song wouldve been better. you also do not have an assessment which is absolutely IMPERATIVE. TFA is all about results so ud be penalized heavily for not having an assessment. They hate "chalk and talk:" lessons.
@marcbc Perfect reply. Like I said, this was more of a practice for me before the interview so I changed a bit about my presentation. I improved a bit during the presentation, though I wasn't happy with what I presented. I was a bit embarrassed to post this video but did it to help anyway I could. Marcbc, I wish I knew you before the interview. You could definitely clarify on the goal if you'd like. I believe my goal was to teach transitional sentences but if that wasn't clear you're correct.
No I didn't get in, but I was also working on my Masters at the time already so I'm sure that had something to do with it, but I am a Computer Instructor at an elementary. I only posted the video because I know when I was nervous about the application, I couldn't find anyone else that had anything posted. So hopefully this helps. If you're looking for any pointers, just don't go too fast like I kinda do above. Take your time and remember to teach the lesson. Engage the class!
