@soulkiss68 to clarify....this version is by the original Co-writer (with Anthony Philips), Roy Hill. It was written in 1983...Bucks Fizz therefore did a Cover version in 1984
This tune pales into total insignificance compared to what Cry No More came out with later (actually - let's face it: this song is pretty weak). Sadly, they never received the recognition they deserved - of all the bands I've ever seen, this one (and Danny Wilson) should have got greater recognition. The dice never landed in their favour. Sorry, boys, that I only saw you at the Turks Head - wish it had been Wembley.
Lets just say that this was written by Roy and Chaz back in 1986. roughly the same time as the only single " who would be a white south african" was released and banned by the BBC for some strange reason
I didn't realise that Roy Hill was anything to do with Cry No More even though I've got LPs and singles by both. Now can anyone send me a recording of "Looking for Someone Mr Templar?" please?
I've known Roy since we were schoolkids and I had the honour of tuning his very first guitar. Showed him some chords too. That's all I needed to do, he mastered it on his own from there. We formed a band and had a lot of fun. Glad to see he's done good. A lovely song, and a great talent. I'm pleaed to know him.
How fantastic is this? I knew Roy as a very young man flashing down into the Market Place in Cirencester. He worked for my then husband, and was obviously very talented.
What a fantastic band! Much better than The Beatles or Queen. Last time I went to see them it only cost £10 to get in. £10! It was worth double that. Put your prices up next time boys. A well-wisher.
Yes indeed, smallstories, you are absolutely correct. Really these boys ought to be in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Since this would require a transatlantic flight, they might as well tack on a tour as well.
Love the trip back in time and memories of being so young seeing Cry No More for the first time. Best nights out, love the singing and the fabulous crowd.
Twenty years ago?!! Only seems like last week to us of a certain age (including Roy & Chas)! Ah, The Mulberry Tree (R.I.P.), The Southampton (R.I.P.) & The Turks Head - fond memories. How about a CNM Social Club trip to the Isle of Wight Roy? You'd go down a storm!
I'm looking forward to their gig at The Turks Head, St. Margarets, Twickenham (Tel: 0208 892 1972) on Saturday 28th December '07 - Cry No More always play a gig around Christmas - seen them several times and it's always great music and a lot of fun.
I think this is fantastic!
Not all 80's stuff wears well but this does!
People are mentioning a version by Bucks Fizz but surely this is the original?

I love the Bucks Fizz version of this song and although this version pales in comparison, its still a very interesting version

@rainsonadam The Bucks Fizz version was released 1984 on the I Hear Talk album, and this one was I think Oct 87.

On looking at this video, I must agree with Ms. Morgan, an Abduct Cry No More committee is a must.

Brilliant! All that's missing is the Mulberry Tree Choir and the obligatory cry of "YOU STUPID BASTARD!"

I was just testing to see if anyone was awake - 28th December is a FRIDAY not a Saturday!
I shall therefore be going to see Cry No More on FRIDAY 28th December at the Turk's Head, St. Margarets!
