I haven't seen Underberg TV ads since the 70s/80s - I think it is not too popular in Germany anymore, but I could be wrong.

Hmmm... I wonder why it was pointed out to my student as a good souvenir. Maybe they push it on tourist? Like Budweiser is sold in Japan? Bud is drinkable (debatable), but definitely not America's best.

It always seemed kinda 'quaint' to me, even when I was a kid - I never even thought about trying it. It doesn't look sexy and had dull ads. E.g. Jaegermeister is a lot more hip...

Coming to think about it, I've never seen a bottle of this at anybody's place in my life.

Honestly in my region (germany) we don't drink it sooo often. Sure we have it sometimes but not as often as Jägermeister or other liqueurs I would say..

here in sweden (or atleast me and my family haha) drink this when we feel that we´re about to have a cold. Then we take a tabelspoon of this. If you have an infection going on in your throat, this stuff BURNS! Great though, cos the bacteria burns away

This is very popular here in switzerland. We drink these after heavy meals. I am not really a big fan of, it is just to bitter ^^
