@GotsaSmall i honestly think the marlins have a good chance to win the wildcard if they sign Fielder reyes and others but maybe i was a little hard on scott cousins but MLB has to do somthing runners shouldnt be allowed to run over the catchers
I hate the people that keep saying that buster isn't strong. I fell off a climbing wall at my school and feel seven feet and broke my foot and tore some ligaments, I couldn't do anything for five months. So to anyone who think that Buster isn't strong then your an idiot. Plus for all the people who think it is Scott's fault, it really isn't, it got out of control, the rules were stupid. If you guys saw it then you would have seen that once Scott got his face out of the dirt, he went to help him!
@SuperMarlinsfan yeah but just because the marlins suck doesnt mean they have to take anyone down with them scott cousins was ttrying to hurt buster posey
@TheCheesecake37 Nah cousins had a clear shot at the base but decided to cheap shot Buster. What a Bush League thing to do. Cousins sucks anyways and so do the marlins lol. I dont even think the team has fans.
@MrU2ber101 oh poor posey he hurt his knee and I would know what it feels like because I tore my MCL playing football, you know, the game where hits like that happen all the time and no one bitches and moans like posey, get to rehab and come back stronger instead of crying like a baby back bitch so ya he is a whimp, on top of that catchers get ran over all the time and they get back up like bosses, Posey cried crawling on the ground like the pussy he is
I'm more of a giants fan than all of you, and it's a fact that it was a clean play. Even Buster says so. So move on. But season ending surgery should never be on the line. Plain and simple.
u ppl are fucking idiots. if posey hadn't been injured nobody would even be talking about it. clean play with an unfortuante outcome. now shut the fuck up
@theadman024 you faggot, Posey has come out and said that they should change the rule so therefore he is a pussy and if Cousins play was bush league then just about every player in baseball is bush league because majority of players including the Giants said it was a clean play and the rule shouldn't be changed stupid ass
WHY IS EVERYONE BLAMING SCOTT COUSINS?!?!?! it was a clean play! it just didnt go buster poseys way. if anything its busters fault. #1 rule in catcher collisions is to stay off ur knees! its awful wat happened to posey but dont blame scott cousins!
So happy Buster Posey got injured. He's an entitled, whiny bitch who thinks he's bigger than the game. He's a total fraud. He doesn't know how to play the position and his injury was his own fault. He only had one good month last year. He'd been a disappointment all of this year. In some ways he's lucky he got injured so he'll be able to blame his mediocre play on this injury for the rest of his career.
@IdiotForPalin WHATS UR POROBLEM!?!?!?!?!?!? Y U GOTTA HATE ON POSEY 4 ! IT WUZNT HIS FAULT! UR JUST HELLA MESSED UP!!!!! UR JEALOUS HE COULD PLAY AND U CAN'T! UR JEALOUS HE GOT INJURED AND GETS MORE ATTENTION THAN U!!!
I AM SOOOOOOO DISAPPOINTED!!! BUSTER IS MY GUY!!! HE IS ONE OF THE BEST PLAYERS!!! HE IS WINNING FOR ALL-STAR CATCHER BUT NO HE CAN'T PLAY!!!! I HOPE THE GIANTS WIN AGAIN TO SHOW ALL THE OTHER TEAMS WHOSE BOSS! THE GAMES NOT THE SAME!!! its really sad to see such a great person go down at the beginning of such a great career. BUT HE WILL BE BACK!
"Scott Cousins" I hope your career ends. Posey was way inside home plate, a simple slide toward the outside would have been called safe. Bottom line is, Marlins suckk...Giants are on top
@Rwolshlager I'm a huge Giants fan and I'm sad about Posey's situation but come on you cant say that about Scott Cousins. What he did wasnt illegal and it wasnt as if he was trying to hurt him. He called him after to apologize for it as well. I think you're listening to that moron Brian Sabean too much so stop taking him seriously.
Bushleague: A phrase commonly used in (but not restricted to) baseball to describe something (usually a playing style or attitude) that is not respectable or sportsmanlike, but technically not breaking any rules of the game. Someone who commonly plays with antics that are considered bushleague
@theadman024 see u just lost ur whole argument by calling him a bush league amateur cuz hes actually in mlb while ur sitting at home watching him run over ur catcher. if posey was that good a pro he woulda caught ball and held onto it for the out.. maybe his team wouda won that game then...
even if he didn;t see that buster didn't have the ball, he should have realized that the base was open, buster was leaving a lane, make a wide slide because a swipe tag is harder that holding on to a secured ball - and he would have been safe, nobody gets injured
cousins started to dive when the ball was first REACHED posey, posey didn't have it in his glove, didnt even start to lay a tag, cousins decided he was going to blow up the catcher about 15 feet away from HP
what I am saying is that Buster, being the better player, was expecting the baserunner to do what a typical baserunner would do, slide, because that is a better option. Cousins decided to take a cheapshot
@theadman024 yes is glove was empty but he still tried to tag him with the empty glove... and if cousins is running full speed he cant judge whether posey has ball or not.. do u expect him to stop running to check if posey has ball then make a decision? and he scored the run so obviously he made the right decision and u cant use old players to back up ur opinion and try to discredit other players just cause the company they work for. thats pretty hypocritical of ya
@theadman024 thats ur opinion that the better play was to outside.. a guy who played baseball his whole life probably and is talented enough to make it to the pros decided the better play was to run into posey
@smhpgh23 Well Buster was rookie of the year and helped his team to a WS victory, the fact is Buster is a much better player than cousins (drafted same year) and he was making a play he had done a hundred times before as a catcher, Cousins was an overzealous base runner
@smhpgh23 haha, you are funny. I dont remember saying anything like that. it's really not worth arguing anymore because you've exauhsted all your avenues but no, I did not say that, I am not saying that
@theadman024 yeah cuz ur argument doesnt really make sense... u say its a better play to slide and unnecessary for cousins to run into posey.. but fact is its a legal play, and cousins scored the run, which is all that matters
@smhpgh23 but if cousins gets hurt on that play instead of Posey he then hurt his team because he's going on the DL, plus it leaves a bad taste in players mouths when you use unecessary roughness
@theadman024 unnecessary roughness? ive seen players on giants and all teams to dive at 2nd baseman to break up double play ive seen giant pitchers and pitchers from every team intentionally plunk a batter... how are those plays necessary and running into catcher isnt... ur being very shortsighted in ur opinion
@theadman024 so how can u sit there and say the runner going into 2nd with a hard feet first slide sometimes kicking his legs outside the basepath is necessary... but running into catcher is unnecessary... would u defend a giants player who in trying to break up a double play slid hard into 2nd and as the 2nd baseman tried to do a jumping throw he came down and tore his acl? or would u say that was a unnecessary slide by the giants player?
and i'll say this as well, sorry your boy is hurt. i know that's annoying. injuries are no bueno. my team has had major injury too, i feel for you giant fans. but this is not cousins fault. or anyone's for that matter. it was a bad collision with an unfortunate outcome. you're boy will be back next year. but stop throwing a fit like this is the worst thing to ever happened, or that the rules need to be changed cause that's all crap. it's part of the game, posey got hurt. tough break, move on.
@theadman024 who cares that Santana is a scrub, its the fact that because a golden boy got hurt you want to change rules that have been around forever., Posey is a pussy period. Every other catcher will say that the rule should be left alone
@TheYoungphenom21 "I" want to change rules?? Way to make stuff up in your head you delusional clown, The only thinkg I've ever said is Cousins play was bush league
and anyone who defends it is bush league, as far as Posey has he called for a rule change? No. Has he said he still wants to catch eventhough he can easily play other positions? Yes. So way to call a pro athlete a pussy you keyboard commando
i think its funny that all these san fransisco fans are leaving scott cousins death threats when one of their own is fighting for his life after attending a dodgers game... get a fuckin clue.. its a baseball game not life and death.. posey went to make the tag.. collisions happen at the plate.. if he cant handle it he shouldnt play the position.. im a steelers fan and our team is known for hard hits but i dont bitch when the opposing team hits one of our players hard.. san fran fans are bitches
@theadman024 whats hate? ur saying its ok for giants fans to wish death on a guy over a baseball play? haha wow!!! and the job of the runner is to score. by sliding or running into catcher.. have u ever played baseball? cuz i have... posey made a move to make a tag, cousins went to dislodge ball by running him over.. how was he supposed to know posey didnt have ball in that split second. san fran fans need to quit crying, collisions happen at that position, its part of game
@smhpgh23 who said it's ok to make death threats? this is why you can't be taken seriously. He made the decision to go after Posey when he left 3rd base, the plate wasn't blocked, that's all there is to it
bush league, any pro with a decent size contract isn't going to put himself at risk like that when he could have just as easily scored with a simple slide, Posey never had control of the ball, the ball got there the same time as cousins. watch Fosse's and Mike Matheny's comments, they agree
@theadman024 so ur trying to say no decent pro would try to knock the catcher over?? wow.. well i think pete rose would disagree.. as well as pro and analysts on espn aaron boone rick sutcliffe, dave winfield who all say it was a clean play.. no one can take u serious cuz u cant objectively look at the facts and rules of mlb... ur just being a typical fan who thinks his team can do no wrong and its everyone elses fault wen something bad happens to his team
@smhpgh23 Fosse was straddling the baseline, standing up, shoulders square. He knew he was blocking the plate and had no intention on moving - that's when a collision play is warranted, when it's a me vs you "let's play chicken" situation, NOT when the other player is setting up for a swipe tag and you change direction to blindside him with the full force of your body. That's why it is bush league. That's looking at the facts.
@theadman024 omg are u serious??? haha geez.. he tried to make a tag.. if u actually did play baseball as u say then u woud realize cousins had split second to decide if he wanted to slide or run over catcher.. he chose to run him overr.. it was a legal play.. that other guy is right.. u only takes bits and parts of arguments and ignore other parts... but then again given the fact that u cant admit its a legal play idk wat else i coud say to u.. cuz u make no sense
@smhpgh23 I do admit it was a legal play, that's why I say NO RULE CHANGE...DUH. Cousins didn't make that decision at the last moment, I watched it live, he had a head full of steam coming down the baseline and went directly for posey, he left his feat before the ball even got there and posey NEVER had possesion...GET IT?
Against the rules -no, bush league - yes, Cousins is a young player who was over excited and made a play that other veterans would identify as being unecessary
@theadman024 really? cuz hall of famer dave winfield said it was a good clean play and he would do same thing... so should i take a hall of famers opinion or opinion of guy who watched it live.. and u say he had a full head of steam.. was he supposed to just jog to home? dont most runners have a "full head of steam" when they are running home to score
@smhpgh23 right now there is an attempt to quell the whole situation too, Sabean went on the offensive and with the whole deathreats and all it's nothing but PR now
@theadman024 and i just rewatched the play, when posey made the turn there was less than half a second until impact... u can rewatch on youtube and see that for urself, the baserunner has the option of sliding or hitting the catcher and to watch it on tv is waaay different than being on the field in that situation. yeah posey didnt have possession but he tried to, he turned to make the tag and got blasted.
@smhpgh23 but look at cousins route, he starts on the outside of the baseline and about 15 feet from home changes route and makes a b-line to posey, his intention was to blow him up eventhough he had a clear route - which he did, Bench says he was "laying in front of homeplate" - ummm, sorry he wasn't laying in front of the plate, certain people are going to take sides for certain reasons but he wasn't "laying in front of the plate" his big toe was grazing the very front corner - maybe
@theadman024 like i said before none of this matters, cousins made a legal play and got the run.. as a athlete myself.. not in baseball tho.. but i realize ppl make quick decisions and as long as no rules are broken then no harm no foul, ppl get injured in sports, coud he have slid.. yes. but he made decision to run over the catcher, so who cares what he chose to do.. as long as plays are legal it doesnt really matter which one he decides to do as hes running full speed
@smhpgh23 well I care and gisnts fans care because Posey has the ability to be a great player, not just a good one but a great one and the extent of ligament damage will be career altering especially for a catcher, we groomed this guy for years him and lincecum are the foundation of our organization. Make no mistake this can still be a career ending injury, not season ending. Because a scrub got overzealous - a shame
@theadman024 see.. that right there proves my point.. u cant look at the play objectively cuz ur a giants fan.. injuries happen in sports and cousins gets the benefit of the doubt cuz he didnt do anything illegal
@smhpgh23 I have already explained the view I hold and why, are Fosse and Matheny just Giants fans too, no they saw what I saw, an overzealous young player making a unnecessary play which caused a severe injury to another player. I wouldn't want to see a Giant make that type of decision on a similar play
@theadman024 just because some old players agree with u doesnt mean its right.. they have their opinion, i have my opinion u have ur opinion johnny bench has his opinion, dave winfield, aaron boone have their opinion, pete rose called it good hard nosed baseball play.. everyone is gonna have differing opinions but fact is this.. it was a legal play and he scored
@smhpgh23 I'm not sure if you are aware but pete rose is also a bit of an arrogant douchebag, a good player, but arrogant. He says Fosse should thank him because he made him famous. That's the attitude that keeps you out of the HOF
@theadman024 well would u say ray fosse was a great player? no.. he wasnt... rose was.. fosse was decent. but rose was great. but his ego has no bearings on the fact that he was a great player who played the game hard...
@smhpgh23 so what? And some say Fosse was never the same after that play, maybe he would have been a better player but at least he knew he was going to get hit an was intentionally blocking the plate
@theadman024 no he wasnt laying in front of the plate, but wen he got the ball he did turn in front of plate less than half a second before cousins hit into him
@smhpgh23 well that's how I judge certain opinions and knowing pro sports certain sides are taken for certain reasons. I read Bench's comments and honestly thought "did you even watch the play?"
@smhpgh23 yes, he turned to put on a swipe tag. You know why? because Buster fully expected him to be making a slide, because he had intentionally left the plate open and that's what happens, it's a play a catcjher does hundreds of times an you expect the other player to do what players usually would do, which is a hook slide or a belly slide to the outside with arm extended. Instead Buster got an unexpected flying shoulder
@theadman024 so because the opponent expects u to do something that means u have to do that? i would think ud wanna do the opposite of what ur opponent expects.. shoud a pitcher only throw fastballs because thats wat a hitter is expecting??? come on... once again fact is it was a hard legal play and it doesnt matter if its posey, posada, rose, bench or fosse behind plate. if ur a catcher theres a chance ur gonna get hit and injured its part of the game. cousins made a great play for his team
@theadman024 so if cousins does what posey expected and posey got the ball and tagged him out then thats the smart play? being tagged out? no.. the smart play is doing whatever u can do within the rules to score.. which cousins did
@theadman024 but how is cousins supposed to know in that single split second if posey has ball or not.. see u have benefit of watching it on tv and seeing replays over and over. cousins had to make a decision quick. and cousins didnt fly through the air lol... u gotta watch the play again if u believe that
@theadman024 oh my god... i know he didnt have the ball.... im saying cousins didnt know that in that split second.. what part of that dont u get... cousins did wat he thought was best way to score... hes a pro... me and u arent so as long as he made a legal play then it doesnt matter.. it wasnt unnecessary it wasnt dirty it was a good hard play.. posey obviously thought he DID have the ball or he wouldnt have tried to make the tag
@smhpgh23 and what he thought was the best way to score isn't actually the best way to score and he ended up ending a guys season, putting himself at risk, and pissing off a whole lot of people,
@theadman024 like i said.. he is the pro... so im sure he knows best ways to score.. not you.. if hes ok putting himself at risk to help his team win.. then i say good job...
@smhpgh23 posey is a pro, a better pro than cousins, and posey was anticipating cousins doing what other pro baserunners would do, slide to the outside
@theadman024 u have already made that argument... listen ur repeating the same thing u said before, im repeating the same thing.. i say its a good hard play at plate.. he scored his team won... u say it was bush league and wasnt best way to score.. we are both repeating ourselves so this debate is over
@theadman024 well this was fun but u obviously arent getting it... if cousins did something illegal then id say it was dirty.. the fact is it wasnt illegal and injuries happen.. posey needs to rehab and if he cant handle being catcher he needs to be moved to different safer position.. it was a hard nosed play, he scored winning run, his team is happy they won that game. thats it
@theadman024 so ur sayin no part of posey was blocking the plate.. whether he left a lane open or not.. which i agree with u he did... he still turned in front of the plate and cousins made the call to run him over.. its the runners decision to slide or run into the catcher.. its not the catchers decision... and the most important thing is he scored the run
@smhpgh23 and just because some old player agree with you doesn't mean it's right, especially when they're ESPN corespondents, ESPN and FOX are the worst, they are bias as fuck
@smhpgh23 good sports fans dont want to see other players seriously injured and when it happens due to an unnecessary play it is a shame, baseball isn't football, you're not taught to tackle other players
@theadman024 but a baseball player is taught that he can slide or run into the catcher at home. whether u say the play was unnecessary or not ...fact is it was a legal play and cousins had every right to do what he did
@smhpgh23 yeah the play was legal but bush league, it's bush league because you are putting yourself at risk as much as the other guy, it could have just as easily been cousins suffering an injury and a pro who is important to their team doesn't take that risk in may of the MLB season. That's the different between the pros, you play smarter
@theadman024 so a guy doing everything he can legally to get a run is bush league? so u wanna villify the guy for playing as hard as he can? so ur sayin shortstops shouldnt make diving stops cuz they might get hurt, outfielders shoudnt attempt to jump into wall cuz they might get hurt, 2nd baseman shouldnt try and make double plays cuz they might get run into??? that is one of the worst arguments u have made yet. if im a manager i want my player to play as hard in may as he does in september
@smhpgh23 he actually had a better play sliding to the outside, collision plays are last ditch efforts and usually unsuccessful , the throw was late, Busters glove was empty the whole time
@theadman024 ???? how am i hating? i never said i hate the giants or posey... i said running into the catcher is part of the game and san fran fans shouldnt be making death threats to a guy who was doing his job and trying to score... so how is any of that hate???
Posey blocks the plate, gets injured and then not only ignores an apology from Cousins that wasn't even warranted..but then lets some fuckface general manager trash Cousins and threaten to pay him back. Class act all the way.
BTW I'm not a fan of either team, I actually root for the Mets, but I hope that if the Giants do throw at Cousins the whole Marlin team charges the GM box and beats the living shit out of that asshole crybaby Sabean
@mission762008 you think Buster told Crazy Sabean say that....if you did your reading, Posey doesn't blame Cousins, but thought he could have slid around him
@KillenEMsoftly never said he told him to say it..he just never intervened when Sabean was running his mouth. Doesn't matter what Posey thinks he should have done...the rules say different. Cousins was 100% within his rights to try to dislodge the ball by bowling into the catcher. Like I said in another thread, if Posey thinks that people should try to slide around him at home plate, maybe it's not the position for him
@mission762008 he felt it was unnecessary, he didn't think it was dirty since it's legal...and i don't think buster has responded to Sabeans comments yet...i don't think he has to, because it was stupid and really was a bad look for every single Giant fan
@bitchniggaspussy haha, this guy is a professional troll, all the comments on your page are different sports fans pointing out that you'rs just a troll - lol, get a life guy
Giants fans don't understand, because half of them just started following baseball a year ago when they went to the world series. Homeplate plays like this is like fighting in the NHL, or crashes at NASCAR or Indy 500. They are what make these sports exciting.
@aa55raiderz check the attendance, one of the best in baseball for years, going back to candlestick. If Posey was blocking the plate you'd be right, that is exciting because it's a runner vs catcher situation, but if you watched the play you would see it wasn't the case, the only people who think he was blocking the plate are people who are bad at analyzing sports
@theadman024 you're retarded. Having one foot on one side of the baseline, and the other foot on the other side, is blocking the baseline. Doesn't matter where the rest of your body is.
Stop being a blind fanboy. Getting your first championship in over 50 years means nothing. As well, check your facts idiot. In your own championship year you barely cracked the attendance top 10 at an average 35k a game. The average of the last 5 years at candlestick was 19k.
it's 3 months from spring training, & Posey is good to go!!!!

Someone who commonly plays with antics that are considered bushleague
theadman024 8 months ago
COUSINS = BUSH LEAGUE
LEARN A HOOK SLIDE COUSINS!!!
LITTLE LEAGUE, GO BACK
lol
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 see u just lost ur whole argument by calling him a bush league amateur cuz hes actually in mlb while ur sitting at home watching him run over ur catcher. if posey was that good a pro he woulda caught ball and held onto it for the out.. maybe his team wouda won that game then...
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 maybe you should look up what bushleague means buddy
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 ill just look up what winning means and see posey flat on his back as cousins runs him over to score game winning run
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 you are so bushleague
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 aww listen to u getting soooo butthurt over a pussy catcher not being able to make a out... haha..
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 that comment is bushleague
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 see thats all u got cuz u know u lost.. its cool tho.. u keep watching buster pussy... i mean posey
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 twat? I cunt hear you over the swaying of your bushleage in the breeze Giants baybeee, Marlins suck
theadman024 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 even better how bout you look up the MLB standings
theadman024 8 months ago
even if he didn;t see that buster didn't have the ball, he should have realized that the base was open, buster was leaving a lane, make a wide slide because a swipe tag is harder that holding on to a secured ball - and he would have been safe, nobody gets injured
theadman024 8 months ago
cousins started to dive when the ball was first REACHED posey, posey didn't have it in his glove, didnt even start to lay a tag, cousins decided he was going to blow up the catcher about 15 feet away from HP
theadman024 8 months ago
what I am saying is that Buster, being the better player, was expecting the baserunner to do what a typical baserunner would do, slide, because that is a better option. Cousins decided to take a cheapshot
theadman024 8 months ago
it would have been a swipe tag with an empty glove
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 yes is glove was empty but he still tried to tag him with the empty glove... and if cousins is running full speed he cant judge whether posey has ball or not.. do u expect him to stop running to check if posey has ball then make a decision? and he scored the run so obviously he made the right decision and u cant use old players to back up ur opinion and try to discredit other players just cause the company they work for. thats pretty hypocritical of ya
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 but the point is the better play was a slide to the outside, you have a better chance of scoring and you don't put yourself in danger
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 thats ur opinion that the better play was to outside.. a guy who played baseball his whole life probably and is talented enough to make it to the pros decided the better play was to run into posey
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 Well Buster was rookie of the year and helped his team to a WS victory, the fact is Buster is a much better player than cousins (drafted same year) and he was making a play he had done a hundred times before as a catcher, Cousins was an overzealous base runner
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 so ur saying cousins should alter the way he plays depending on who is covering home plate?
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 haha, you are funny. I dont remember saying anything like that. it's really not worth arguing anymore because you've exauhsted all your avenues but no, I did not say that, I am not saying that
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 yeah cuz ur argument doesnt really make sense... u say its a better play to slide and unnecessary for cousins to run into posey.. but fact is its a legal play, and cousins scored the run, which is all that matters
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 but if cousins gets hurt on that play instead of Posey he then hurt his team because he's going on the DL, plus it leaves a bad taste in players mouths when you use unecessary roughness
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 unnecessary roughness? ive seen players on giants and all teams to dive at 2nd baseman to break up double play ive seen giant pitchers and pitchers from every team intentionally plunk a batter... how are those plays necessary and running into catcher isnt... ur being very shortsighted in ur opinion
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 they dont dive at a second baseman, the go in for a hard feet-first slide
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 so how can u sit there and say the runner going into 2nd with a hard feet first slide sometimes kicking his legs outside the basepath is necessary... but running into catcher is unnecessary... would u defend a giants player who in trying to break up a double play slid hard into 2nd and as the 2nd baseman tried to do a jumping throw he came down and tore his acl? or would u say that was a unnecessary slide by the giants player?
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 kicking legs outside of a path is uneccessary, if you try to intentionally spike someone you will make enemies on the field
theadman024 8 months ago
non of those ESPN players were catchers, and they tow the network line anyhow. Nobody takes espn seriously anymore
theadman024 8 months ago
and i'll say this as well, sorry your boy is hurt. i know that's annoying. injuries are no bueno. my team has had major injury too, i feel for you giant fans. but this is not cousins fault. or anyone's for that matter. it was a bad collision with an unfortunate outcome. you're boy will be back next year. but stop throwing a fit like this is the worst thing to ever happened, or that the rules need to be changed cause that's all crap. it's part of the game, posey got hurt. tough break, move on.

@theadman024 who cares that Santana is a scrub, its the fact that because a golden boy got hurt you want to change rules that have been around forever., Posey is a pussy period. Every other catcher will say that the rule should be left alone
TheYoungphenom21 8 months ago
@TheYoungphenom21 "I" want to change rules?? Way to make stuff up in your head you delusional clown, The only thinkg I've ever said is Cousins play was bush league
and anyone who defends it is bush league, as far as Posey has he called for a rule change? No. Has he said he still wants to catch eventhough he can easily play other positions? Yes. So way to call a pro athlete a pussy you keyboard commando
theadman024 8 months ago
thumbs up Buster Posey is the greatest catcher ever !!!!! hope he gets better and that he will continue strong for next season!!
timlincecumFTW55 8 months ago
Home Plate collisions are part of the game.
Carlton Fisk, Thurman Munson, Johnny Bench, Ivan 'Pudge' Rodriguez. They played through pain.
It's just overreaction from the Giants.

i think its funny that all these san fransisco fans are leaving scott cousins death threats when one of their own is fighting for his life after attending a dodgers game... get a fuckin clue.. its a baseball game not life and death.. posey went to make the tag.. collisions happen at the plate.. if he cant handle it he shouldnt play the position.. im a steelers fan and our team is known for hard hits but i dont bitch when the opposing team hits one of our players hard.. san fran fans are bitches

baseball isn't football
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 whats hate? ur saying its ok for giants fans to wish death on a guy over a baseball play? haha wow!!! and the job of the runner is to score. by sliding or running into catcher.. have u ever played baseball? cuz i have... posey made a move to make a tag, cousins went to dislodge ball by running him over.. how was he supposed to know posey didnt have ball in that split second. san fran fans need to quit crying, collisions happen at that position, its part of game
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 who said it's ok to make death threats? this is why you can't be taken seriously. He made the decision to go after Posey when he left 3rd base, the plate wasn't blocked, that's all there is to it
bush league, any pro with a decent size contract isn't going to put himself at risk like that when he could have just as easily scored with a simple slide, Posey never had control of the ball, the ball got there the same time as cousins. watch Fosse's and Mike Matheny's comments, they agree
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 so ur trying to say no decent pro would try to knock the catcher over?? wow.. well i think pete rose would disagree.. as well as pro and analysts on espn aaron boone rick sutcliffe, dave winfield who all say it was a clean play.. no one can take u serious cuz u cant objectively look at the facts and rules of mlb... ur just being a typical fan who thinks his team can do no wrong and its everyone elses fault wen something bad happens to his team
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 Fosse was straddling the baseline, standing up, shoulders square. He knew he was blocking the plate and had no intention on moving - that's when a collision play is warranted, when it's a me vs you "let's play chicken" situation, NOT when the other player is setting up for a swipe tag and you change direction to blindside him with the full force of your body. That's why it is bush league. That's looking at the facts.
theadman024 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 I have no problem admitting when my team does something wrong but Posey did nothing wrong, he left the entire plate and baseline open
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 omg are u serious??? haha geez.. he tried to make a tag.. if u actually did play baseball as u say then u woud realize cousins had split second to decide if he wanted to slide or run over catcher.. he chose to run him overr.. it was a legal play.. that other guy is right.. u only takes bits and parts of arguments and ignore other parts... but then again given the fact that u cant admit its a legal play idk wat else i coud say to u.. cuz u make no sense
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 I do admit it was a legal play, that's why I say NO RULE CHANGE...DUH. Cousins didn't make that decision at the last moment, I watched it live, he had a head full of steam coming down the baseline and went directly for posey, he left his feat before the ball even got there and posey NEVER had possesion...GET IT?
Against the rules -no, bush league - yes, Cousins is a young player who was over excited and made a play that other veterans would identify as being unecessary
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 really? cuz hall of famer dave winfield said it was a good clean play and he would do same thing... so should i take a hall of famers opinion or opinion of guy who watched it live.. and u say he had a full head of steam.. was he supposed to just jog to home? dont most runners have a "full head of steam" when they are running home to score
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 mike matheny and Fosse who actually PLAYED THE CATCHER POSITION, not the OUTFIELD agrees with me
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 ok.. and johnny bench said it was a good play... u can name ppl who see it ur way, i can name ppl who see it my way
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 right now there is an attempt to quell the whole situation too, Sabean went on the offensive and with the whole deathreats and all it's nothing but PR now

smhpgh23 8 months ago

theadman024 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 dude had veins bulding out of his neck looking like a roid freak
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 and i just rewatched the play, when posey made the turn there was less than half a second until impact... u can rewatch on youtube and see that for urself, the baserunner has the option of sliding or hitting the catcher and to watch it on tv is waaay different than being on the field in that situation. yeah posey didnt have possession but he tried to, he turned to make the tag and got blasted.
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 but look at cousins route, he starts on the outside of the baseline and about 15 feet from home changes route and makes a b-line to posey, his intention was to blow him up eventhough he had a clear route - which he did, Bench says he was "laying in front of homeplate" - ummm, sorry he wasn't laying in front of the plate, certain people are going to take sides for certain reasons but he wasn't "laying in front of the plate" his big toe was grazing the very front corner - maybe
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 like i said before none of this matters, cousins made a legal play and got the run.. as a athlete myself.. not in baseball tho.. but i realize ppl make quick decisions and as long as no rules are broken then no harm no foul, ppl get injured in sports, coud he have slid.. yes. but he made decision to run over the catcher, so who cares what he chose to do.. as long as plays are legal it doesnt really matter which one he decides to do as hes running full speed
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 well I care and gisnts fans care because Posey has the ability to be a great player, not just a good one but a great one and the extent of ligament damage will be career altering especially for a catcher, we groomed this guy for years him and lincecum are the foundation of our organization. Make no mistake this can still be a career ending injury, not season ending. Because a scrub got overzealous - a shame
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 see.. that right there proves my point.. u cant look at the play objectively cuz ur a giants fan.. injuries happen in sports and cousins gets the benefit of the doubt cuz he didnt do anything illegal
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 I have already explained the view I hold and why, are Fosse and Matheny just Giants fans too, no they saw what I saw, an overzealous young player making a unnecessary play which caused a severe injury to another player. I wouldn't want to see a Giant make that type of decision on a similar play
it's not that hard to figure out
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 just because some old players agree with u doesnt mean its right.. they have their opinion, i have my opinion u have ur opinion johnny bench has his opinion, dave winfield, aaron boone have their opinion, pete rose called it good hard nosed baseball play.. everyone is gonna have differing opinions but fact is this.. it was a legal play and he scored
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 I'm not sure if you are aware but pete rose is also a bit of an arrogant douchebag, a good player, but arrogant. He says Fosse should thank him because he made him famous. That's the attitude that keeps you out of the HOF
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 well would u say ray fosse was a great player? no.. he wasnt... rose was.. fosse was decent. but rose was great. but his ego has no bearings on the fact that he was a great player who played the game hard...
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 so what? And some say Fosse was never the same after that play, maybe he would have been a better player but at least he knew he was going to get hit an was intentionally blocking the plate
theadman024 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 would you say Posey was "laying in front of the plate" like Bench says? Can you honestly that is an accurate description of the play?
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 no he wasnt laying in front of the plate, but wen he got the ball he did turn in front of plate less than half a second before cousins hit into him
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 well that's how I judge certain opinions and knowing pro sports certain sides are taken for certain reasons. I read Bench's comments and honestly thought "did you even watch the play?"
theadman024 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 yes, he turned to put on a swipe tag. You know why? because Buster fully expected him to be making a slide, because he had intentionally left the plate open and that's what happens, it's a play a catcjher does hundreds of times an you expect the other player to do what players usually would do, which is a hook slide or a belly slide to the outside with arm extended. Instead Buster got an unexpected flying shoulder
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 so because the opponent expects u to do something that means u have to do that? i would think ud wanna do the opposite of what ur opponent expects.. shoud a pitcher only throw fastballs because thats wat a hitter is expecting??? come on... once again fact is it was a hard legal play and it doesnt matter if its posey, posada, rose, bench or fosse behind plate. if ur a catcher theres a chance ur gonna get hit and injured its part of the game. cousins made a great play for his team
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 no you do it because you are expecting the other player to make the smart play
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 so if cousins does what posey expected and posey got the ball and tagged him out then thats the smart play? being tagged out? no.. the smart play is doing whatever u can do within the rules to score.. which cousins did
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 he wouldn't have been tagged out, when posey turned for the tag the ball was already laying on the ground
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 but how is cousins supposed to know in that single split second if posey has ball or not.. see u have benefit of watching it on tv and seeing replays over and over. cousins had to make a decision quick. and cousins didnt fly through the air lol... u gotta watch the play again if u believe that
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 he doesn't know but he knows that the plate is open and should know the better play is to the outside of the plate.
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 the better play is the one that scores the run for his team.. which he did
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 he would have scored anyway, buster never had the ball
AGAIN *sigh*
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 oh my god... i know he didnt have the ball.... im saying cousins didnt know that in that split second.. what part of that dont u get... cousins did wat he thought was best way to score... hes a pro... me and u arent so as long as he made a legal play then it doesnt matter.. it wasnt unnecessary it wasnt dirty it was a good hard play.. posey obviously thought he DID have the ball or he wouldnt have tried to make the tag
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 and what he thought was the best way to score isn't actually the best way to score and he ended up ending a guys season, putting himself at risk, and pissing off a whole lot of people,
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 like i said.. he is the pro... so im sure he knows best ways to score.. not you.. if hes ok putting himself at risk to help his team win.. then i say good job...
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 posey is a better pro, he was expecting Cousins to act like a pro too
not a bush league ameture
theadman024 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 posey is a pro, a better pro than cousins, and posey was anticipating cousins doing what other pro baserunners would do, slide to the outside
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 u have already made that argument... listen ur repeating the same thing u said before, im repeating the same thing.. i say its a good hard play at plate.. he scored his team won... u say it was bush league and wasnt best way to score.. we are both repeating ourselves so this debate is over
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@theadman024 well this was fun but u obviously arent getting it... if cousins did something illegal then id say it was dirty.. the fact is it wasnt illegal and injuries happen.. posey needs to rehab and if he cant handle being catcher he needs to be moved to different safer position.. it was a hard nosed play, he scored winning run, his team is happy they won that game. thats it
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 it wasn't dirty because it was within the rules but it was bush league
theadman024 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 when you're blocking the plate you expect to get hit, when you intentionally leave a path to the plate open you don't
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 so ur sayin no part of posey was blocking the plate.. whether he left a lane open or not.. which i agree with u he did... he still turned in front of the plate and cousins made the call to run him over.. its the runners decision to slide or run into the catcher.. its not the catchers decision... and the most important thing is he scored the run
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 but cousins was already flying through the air when posey started to turn
theadman024 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 and just because some old player agree with you doesn't mean it's right, especially when they're ESPN corespondents, ESPN and FOX are the worst, they are bias as fuck
theadman024 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 good sports fans dont want to see other players seriously injured and when it happens due to an unnecessary play it is a shame, baseball isn't football, you're not taught to tackle other players
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 but a baseball player is taught that he can slide or run into the catcher at home. whether u say the play was unnecessary or not ...fact is it was a legal play and cousins had every right to do what he did
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 yeah the play was legal but bush league, it's bush league because you are putting yourself at risk as much as the other guy, it could have just as easily been cousins suffering an injury and a pro who is important to their team doesn't take that risk in may of the MLB season. That's the different between the pros, you play smarter
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 so a guy doing everything he can legally to get a run is bush league? so u wanna villify the guy for playing as hard as he can? so ur sayin shortstops shouldnt make diving stops cuz they might get hurt, outfielders shoudnt attempt to jump into wall cuz they might get hurt, 2nd baseman shouldnt try and make double plays cuz they might get run into??? that is one of the worst arguments u have made yet. if im a manager i want my player to play as hard in may as he does in september
smhpgh23 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 he actually had a better play sliding to the outside, collision plays are last ditch efforts and usually unsuccessful , the throw was late, Busters glove was empty the whole time
theadman024 8 months ago
@smhpgh23 and yes I've played baseball for 3 years, hate is what you're doing
theadman024 8 months ago
@theadman024 ???? how am i hating? i never said i hate the giants or posey... i said running into the catcher is part of the game and san fran fans shouldnt be making death threats to a guy who was doing his job and trying to score... so how is any of that hate???
smhpgh23 8 months ago

Posey blocks the plate, gets injured and then not only ignores an apology from Cousins that wasn't even warranted..but then lets some fuckface general manager trash Cousins and threaten to pay him back. Class act all the way.
BTW I'm not a fan of either team, I actually root for the Mets, but I hope that if the Giants do throw at Cousins the whole Marlin team charges the GM box and beats the living shit out of that asshole crybaby Sabean
mission762008 8 months ago
@mission762008 you think Buster told Crazy Sabean say that....if you did your reading, Posey doesn't blame Cousins, but thought he could have slid around him
KillenEMsoftly 8 months ago
@KillenEMsoftly never said he told him to say it..he just never intervened when Sabean was running his mouth. Doesn't matter what Posey thinks he should have done...the rules say different. Cousins was 100% within his rights to try to dislodge the ball by bowling into the catcher. Like I said in another thread, if Posey thinks that people should try to slide around him at home plate, maybe it's not the position for him
mission762008 8 months ago
@mission762008 he felt it was unnecessary, he didn't think it was dirty since it's legal...and i don't think buster has responded to Sabeans comments yet...i don't think he has to, because it was stupid and really was a bad look for every single Giant fan

Giants fans don't understand, because half of them just started following baseball a year ago when they went to the world series. Homeplate plays like this is like fighting in the NHL, or crashes at NASCAR or Indy 500. They are what make these sports exciting.
aa55raiderz 8 months ago
@aa55raiderz check the attendance, one of the best in baseball for years, going back to candlestick. If Posey was blocking the plate you'd be right, that is exciting because it's a runner vs catcher situation, but if you watched the play you would see it wasn't the case, the only people who think he was blocking the plate are people who are bad at analyzing sports
theadman024 8 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@theadman024 you're retarded.
