  • They have this on United Airlines from Dec. 1-Jan.2.

  • VERY NICE :-)

  • Oh I just now saw the snowflake link! how clever! =o)

  • "Perktube", what you wrote is poetry and a testament to our Christmas youth when all was right and safe in the world.

  • absolutely...... Beautiful!!!

  • Greatest Christmas album EVER!!!

  • This makes me feel lonely

  • @cd949604 It's the memories of our youth no longer here, I know how you feel. It's still a beautiful piece but with memories attached. Your not lonely I'll think of you and vise verse then both of us won't be.

  • @cd949604 I think that was the point of this song. The TV special was about how Charlie Brown was having a bummer of a Christmas. I can totally relate to it.

  • @somebodysvids yeah it was and i feel like that now. im usually happy everytime when chirstmas is around but now i just feel bummed out. not sure why but i hope it gets better soon. i have been depress alot lately. just hope i'll be happy during chirstmas today

  • Click on the snowflakes.

    Nice touch!!

  • @hotshot123187 Perfect touch for this vid! And it accumulates!!

  • At 2:54, that's not a base guitar is it? That's an actual base, right?

  • @Perktube1 I'm pretty sure it is a "real" Double Bass!

  • @Perktube1 It is indeed an acoustic upright base....

  • @Perktube1 Yes, actual Bass. The "floorstanding model."

Interesting too, if I think about it: Can I recall any instances of "feathering" those low strings as was done here...also done on a bass guitar?

Not off the top of my head, no. Seems to me most bass guitarists I know were more about "flash".

And so now I'm almost wondering if this sort of subtlety isn't a lost art? And wasn't lost years ago...but I'm only reading the memo now?

  • such a wonderful song that evokes the sentiments of this special holiday season...

  • Makes me tear up every time.

    How wonderful.

  • i always have a bad day but when i play this song, it soothes everything and even helps me cry/think things over. This is a great song to play to clear your head of everything <3

  • 1 person didn't like this?! One person out there is Band Aid, I want to ask them 'do they know it's christmas?'

  • This does it for me for some reason even as an adult this song gives me a good Christmas feeling.

  • It's not Christmas til we all here this:)

  • @haylibooth71 what a great sentinment. Yes, we must all hear this. :D

  • thanks for the nostalgia it reminds me of happier times, when life was whole

  • am i the only one who has ever cried from hearing this song....... :]

  • @bluraffe No my friend. But it's a nice cry

  • royal tenembaums.

  • All the "no talent ass clowns" who are considered musicians today couldn't even fathom writing something so ingenius....

  • i can't stop listening to this song, it is just soooo warm, i could actually play this on a Cold Winter Day and relax...this song is sooo priceless!

  • @ad8keyz3 exactly. It evokes a nostalgic yet modern feel, and is so cozy. Dark twilight, blanket of snow, falling snowflakes, streetlights, decorations, a window to look out of, a hot cup of cocoa or apple cider with a cinnamon stick, and this song.

  • Can't hear this song without something getting in my eye. Must be dust.

  • Please take 30 seconds out of your life and go to 2:21 <3

  • @socsocben Got it :) A Jazz pianist at his best.

  • @socsocben I'll take the scenic route and get there from 0:01 =o)

  • @Perktube1 Touché =]

  • @socsocben why?

  • i love this song and the Charlie Brown christmas movie is amazing

  • One of the most nostalgic Christmas Songs written. Memories of my childhood is as vivid today as it was when I was young. Thanks for posting this arrangement. To be a child again.... thanks for helping to bring back "That Old Feeling". Merry Christmas to everyone - young and old.

  • this song is so sad.

  • Magnificent stuff, this! For me, this evokes the the true meaning of the Christmas Season (Holiday season too yes, but it's really so much more).

This LP's "Skating" and "Greensleeves/What Child Is This?" also send shivers of joy down my spine anytime...but particularly now as we approach the season. There is still--and despite all the attempts by the PC crowd to quash it--there's something truly magical about all of it.

Moreover, Vince--and this album--are stil a big part of it for me.

  • @Mulsanne917flatout

mmm .... nasty PC crowd. What could they be thinking?

  • @mewiththedoves Well...the nasty crowd is trying to kill it off. But somehow I think it will persevere, despite that effort.

There is just something about falling snow...and this song...that meet up with one another perfectly.

  • @Mulsanne917flatout Yeah yeah and yeah! (did I say that?)

Falling snow and this song...particularly on Christmas Eve itself (and I'm lucky to have made the mistake...and therfore experience it--that magical recovery---just once......)

  • @Mulsanne917flatout

Funny you should say that cause every time I hear this song I am taken back to my home in New York where I would look out my window and look at the snow falling, the wind blowing and moon light on the huge evergreens we used to have in our yard. Hearing this song just slows me down. The only thing wrong with this song is it should go on for at least 30 min. Ha, ha.

  • @Mulsanne917flatout Yes. Looking out at a twilight colored empty street , snowflakes falling gently to the blanket of white below, taking all the rough edges out of life for a time, lit only by the street lights and the Christmas lights of neighboring houses, dark blue in the sky, sipping hot cocoa, watching the neighbors' relatives pull up to smiles and hugs, and listening to this.

  • @Perktube1 ...and you...are a poet.

    :D

  • @Perktube1 I lost track of things this year--the holiday bliss was blown up just a week after with other things.

...But I have to thank you for your well written words and wonderful sentiment here.

Helps to dull the rough edges, as it were.

  • @Mulsanne917flatout Here's to great taste (which you certainly have)

    Merry Xmas

  • @Trund27 Thank you, T. :)

For me, this whole LP is right up there alone at the top of my list of the "best ever." And there are perhaps only one or two others from that same list which can also so easily "bring me to my knees" so easily, and cause tears to flow.

In this case, it's tears of joy, truly. I hear those piano notes echoing off the walls (and all the years) and it just folds in on me (in on itself?)...in a way both sad and wonderful at the same time.

    Grateful for it.

  • @Mulsanne917flatout Beautifully written comment.

Thanks for sharing your joy with us

    Happy New Year! :)

  • Razmig

  • A cool classic
