whoever played this has killed it. one of Joplins finest. only to be killed by a poor interpretation. i've tried googling Joshua Rifkin but not found his version. suggest you all go out and buy the record. note to pianist. don't be so literal... music is there to be felt.
One of my favorite Joplin rags. It has some melancholy in it. A bit of contemplation. Most of them are quite a bit perkier. They make me feel like dancing down the road like the A&W root bear. Although I wouldn't want to waddle quite like him. LOL
@aliberi20 seriously? like we give a fuck how old you are? im sick of tired of watching/listening to classical videos and i see a see teenager proclaming his/her age thinking everyone cares, really just enjoy the video, no one cares if your 5 (which i highly doubt) and likes to listen to these types of music
wow dont i feel stupid, all this time ive been watching that movie trying to play this by ear when all the time i have the sheet music, stupid stupid me lol. this also has happend to me when i watched the duel scenes from The Legend Of 1900, i never took the time to realize that i had the sheet music to the crave.
this song is just simply just wounderful and it has diferent qualities then most songs. unlike most songs today this song tells a story not through words but through its pure beauty. why cant every song be as wounderful as this one. and i am only 14 and people my age dont under stand what beautiful music is they listen to this rap or hip hop crap
This was the first piano piece I learned to play from start to finish. It was so beautiful to my ears, I slogged through it till the end through the course of one summer, passing over all the elementary piano books with their "do-re-me" and what have you. It's playable, folks. If you love it like I do, give it your best try. This here is a fine example of how to play it.
@teletobi92xD That is so cool, the first time I heard ragtime was the 1974 movie "The Sting" which was chock full of Scott Joplin rags. That turned me into a Scott Joplin fan for life!
Thank you for putting this on. I love this song. It's one of my Joplin faves. I'm working on picking it out and playing it by ear cause the first time I ever heard it was in Benjamin Button.

Great music - and not played too slowly like many other recordings. It's supposed to be a waltz tempo - not a crawl.

Who is playing this version?
lmtz1962 1 year ago
@lmtz1962 I believe it's Richard Zimmerman, he did a five CD version of all of Scott Jolin's rags, I have that collection, it's wonderful music..
