Well probably the reason that there is different characters is beacause at the end of the first one one character dies who it is depends on who restarts the generator.
there is a story. The survivors are actually the reason the zombie virus is so widespread. Everywhere they go they give the disease to people around them... they're called carriers, they have the virus but it doesn't affect them. it's like a rat with the plague. That's why the church guy died, and the helicopter pilot, etc. Just before the Passing they were taken to a facility by men in gas masks (for their own protection) but it is overtaken. You can find that all out by a simple google search.
@entish01 You shouldn't have to google a game's story after you played it... The way the story was integrated is why we criticized the game. Everyone has their own opinion on the matter so take it easy. cheers ;).
@entish01 You missed the point. The point I am making is that the story didn't get the message across in the game, which is where it counts! We criticized the game for that reason.
Furthermore, I would like to clarify that the game still got a decent score on our site and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great coop experience...
@entish01 One more thing... You originally acted like we stated that the game didn't have a story. This isn't the case. It sounds like your jumping the gun as soon as we started to criticize the game. Watch the review again, we criticized the game for the lack of cinematics and further explanation ingame... When you telling me to google the story your just verifying what we said in the review.
In my opinion, you arent apose to find out about the infection. Its always going to be a mystery, though CEDA did give hints of how they attempted to prevent. Also, reading walls ect can help find story beind L4D2.
well the reason why there isnt any explanation why/how the infection started is b.c they are coming out with a 3rd one and everything will be explained then
Oh course they're not trying to fing out about the how the infection started. If valve wanted them to find out they wouldn't have made them survivors, they would have made them fucking detectives. Oh and to all of you who don't like the release date well maybe you should just wait a few months before you buy it. To those who like it you have good taste in games and thanks for not bitching about the fucking release date. Jeez!
@krookidwayz You don't need to be a detective they could have run across some sort of laboratory or something on the way to a safe house in one of the missions. Then you just have one of the characters say something briefly about a file or something. IMO, its not exactly a hard thing to do, but I guess that's debatable.
@pixelsmashers you make a good point. It would give the story some backbone. Also I have to agree that it should have a story at the end of the campaigns. Valve would find a way to get rid of the person in the cutscene(if they died). For example in Dead Rising when you change your outfit it is that way in the cutscene. Can't wait for The Passing!
@krookidwayz That would be pretty cool. It also give plays more incentive to stay alive until they get complete the mission in conjunction with the text that says "in memory of (player)".
What are your thoughts on Dead Rising 2 coming to the PC are you excited for it?
@pixelsmashers I am looking forward to Dead Rising 2. I haven't heard much about it but from I've seen it looks amazing. The first was good. I saw that it a video it said Valve was releasing Left 4 Dead 3 in the fall. It have two questions though. How do you feel about this? Could you clear up the racism talk towards the game?
I think the reason why Valve didn't add as much storyline as they wanted 2 because if 1 person dies but that 1 person who died is there in the next cutscene talking, it would'nt make much sense. They could add more storyline, but Valve would have 2 make it so that if 1 player dies, and the rest off the team tries 2 beat the level they could'nt and i think players would get really annoyed by that. But that's just what i think.
Personaly, i think the game is kick ass, the characters are amazing and better than the first, and the story line is just fine. I doubt anyone who plays the game wants to play the campaigns in order so the story line is only for a little extra. So honestly, i think it's an overall fawsome game.
lol the charger and tank have no respect for common infected they throw rocks at me and kill 4 infected at once charger charge through em and run em down there is so much infected friendly fire in left 4 dead 2 oh yeah and common infected chasing me bam the tank hits him and hes body flys toward me
@teedonster Perhaps. I was just really pointing out how we were promised a more in depth story by the developers that would explain things better than L4D1.
It's not that big of a deal, but if they did it right perhaps it wouldn't take that much away from the experience like you are suggesting. Anyway, thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching ;).
A complete, fully explained storyline wouldn't make the game any less entertaining/bad ass. If memory serves, hardly anything was explained in the first game either. Perhaps Valve planned upon a sequel the entire time for L4D, thus leaving it open-ended, so it's entirely possible for an L4D3 with the way L4D2 came to close.
I l4d 2 is fun and superior to the first, but it just bugs me paying 30 dollars for the first game and have the new game pop up for 50 bucks. l4d look like a unfinish product compare to l4d 2. somewhat a waste of money.
Valve promised that everything would tie in more and they would focus on the story. The effort they put into connecting the story just entails the mission picking up where the last mission left off. The way Valve worded things it sounded like we would find out more about the infection and get a deeper sense of what's going on.
I am not saying that this is a bad thing for everyone, but if you are expecting a deeper story than you will be disappointed and that's what we were getting at.
is this hard to play on with a key board?

Why do people talk as if Left 4 Dead is a game that can be completed? Sure you can beat all the campaigns but it's meant to be replayed ALOT.
That's why the story is kept hidden within the game itself and that there's a lack of cut scenes.
Also, lol @ people expecting L4D3. L4D2 was a Valve Time anomaly; don't expect a third for a while...
ihatealderney 1 year ago
Well either make the game a semi story realted zombie game
No story what so ever and just kill everything in singht
Or make a zombie story line
That and the fact that each chapter is considered a "movie" makes it hard to keep a story together like bb120308 said

@pixelsmashers it wasnt just a google search. there are official comics written that explain the whole story.
