  • lol at the Government skit!

  • about 5 years too early for xmen 354 frank!

  • Why is "Protocols of Zion" in related videos!?!

  • Mike>Joel, at least in the theater

  • Oh goodness - "Babylon 5 was on last night!" I love TV'S Frank.

  • Are people really getting mad about the Supercalifragilisticexpialiwhacky skit? It looks more like a stab at ham-fisted political satire than an ACTUAL attempt at political satire...

  • This movie looked really entertaining actually and not in a 'so bad it's good' way. I heard some of the crew genuinely liked it too and I want to see the original version now.

  • Supercalifragilisticexpialiwhacky reminds me of those really awful Mark Russell shows on PBS.....

  • @Mpshfromlowell64 The thought occurs to me that they were parodying exactly that.

  • You know what the political skit taught me?

It taught me that it doesn't matter if we learn from the past or not.

We're doomed to repeat it no matter what.

  • 31:51 infringement much?

  • 33:34 oh boy! the classic Vogon line: RESISTANCE IS USELESS!

...so that's where Douglas Adams got it from, maybe...

  • 17:02 bathe him in Mountain Dew - or maybe Sierra Mist. He's a really nerdy horse...

  • statutory woo

  • "this movie has the same plot as a boy named sue"lol

  • I would not be surprised if the U.S. military started using the comment section here as an experimental method of torture.

Piss people off, make them say the same comment over and over again when you should really just rel-... dammit now I'm doing it.

    See? Perfect torture method.

  • I had a feeling this one would bring out the political claws. Relax, folks. Based on the tweets of some of the CT members, it looks like they are somewhat left leaning, and Mike, and I'm assuming several others on the show (it IS Minnesota) leaned right. The superior writing proved these folks worked well together despite these differences, because you can't work as a good comedy team if you're in too much conflict (which was why Joel left). Congress could learn a thing or two from these guys.

  • Mike is da man. Joel was also da man. GOOOOO MST3K!!!!!!!!

  • Mike: I was a baby when I last saw her so I'll need to see all your breasts.

  • Dragon's head just randomly falls off at 1:22:30, hahaha.

  • "I have a plan..."

    Servo: Oh, NO! >_<

  • This baby can handle anything but a three-headed dra- oh, son of a...

  • Close the buffet!

  • Wow, it really was Bridget and Mary Jo.

  • mike's wife looks like a dude.

  • "I said no cameras."

  • "Hey, Rivendell and Mordor are calling."

    "Those are places."

  • "Kid's loyalty turns on a dime."

  • Comment removed

  • When I start my rap career I will be known as The Swedish Moses of Soul.

  • Y'know this baby can handle everything but a three-headed... OH SON OF A- AAHH!!

  • This movie is so AWESOME!! I love crazy fantasy stories like this one. It's too cool for MST3K imo.

  • As I understand it, Mike is more of a "centrist" Republican, not the ultra-right-wing variety. Besides, who cares? He's a damn talented writer and performer. I'm a lefty myself, but I don't judge Mike based on his politics.

  • put the wind demon in my private chambers lol

  • i smell fresh pants:P

  • @UrbanZ0mbie - just repeat to yourself, it's just a show - I should really just relax.

  • "And so ZZ Top was born!"

  • 10:30

    "Doctor Who!"

    :D Oh Mike.

  • "I need a veggie meal." "Can I bring my cousin?" "I'm lactose intolerant." "Can I have the money instead?" "But I don't like food."

  • That wizard outfit is so cute on Tom. I just want to eat him up~

  • Anyone else notice that Alexi is the same actor that plays Sinbad, and Elia's wife is the same actress that plays Neptunes daughter in the same Sinbad movie??? LOL! Even the extras are the exact same ones from The Magic Voyage of Sinbad!

  • Looks like those clowns in congress did it again. What a bunch of clowns.

  • "The banjo becomes angry at midnight-WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?!"

  • I dig Nelson.

  • Their little play with Ingmar Bergman is fucking GENIOUS!

  • As both a D&D player and a comic book collector... This opening segment is hilarious!

  • When you're out of slits, you're out of beer. XD

  • lol, D&D is more fun than it's portrayed in the media.

  • "The Legend of Boggy Creek had more depth"...They didn't do that one for like 2 more years. My mind just got blown!

  • "Failure, failure, such a failure"...Oh wait, that was a different movie...

  • ROTFL!!! I want a squirrel Servo!

  • Statutory Woo!!!

  • But Im a bunny....XD

  • I'm like Frank and Dr. F. on a date...except not as smooth

  • Ah, "Dream On", America Online...those weren't the days...

  • I was actually really impressed by the special effects, sets & costumes of this movie. If the "Lord of the Rings" movies had been made back then, I could only hope that they would have looked this good! I also loved that delightfully lame "generic political satire" Mike and the 'bots did... It was so pathetic yet so funny! XD

  • this is great

  • AND COMIC BOOKS!!! AND STARLOG!!! What's next? Fangoria?!

  • Holy crap!!! An MST3K I've never seen before! And it's got an AD&D sketch!!!

  • at 0:43:10 to 0:43: 24 . . . is this real life? LOL! Mike Nelson is HILARIOUS!

  • The musical skit is specifically mocking the insufferable and atrocious Capitol Steps, whose "satire" is so shallow it says nothing of substance, kinda like what Mike & the bots are doing here: repeating meaningless political clichés.

  • first time i caught the "paint your wagon" reference at 10:20, pretty obscure one right there...great song though

  • BANGBANG!

  • I more got the impression that the skit was more taking this piss out of political satire than being satirical itself.

  • I love BridgetXD! Mike is a lucky man ^_^

And what's with all the political pissing and moaning? So Mr. Nelson's personal views tend towards the conservative--big deal! It's his business, and it doesn't make the show any less funny. The man was Head Writer on MST3K for 5 years before becoming its star as well--if he'd wanted to slip in any Right-Wing propaganda, he would have.

  • joel is way better than mike.

but stop hatin on Will Ferrell you honestly didnt like Blades of Glory, saturday night live, talledaga nights, and Step Brothers

  • @tas12345678100 No, Mike is much better than Joel. ... And so it begins.

  • @Apollo5600 I like Both alot..i hate the Mike vs Joel thing lol..they both were great in their own way and did a good job...

  • Movie is almost as odd as Quest of the Delta Knights with having the main character play both a young and older version of himself, but reverse. Delta Knights character looked young no matter how long the hair on his wig was. Sword and Dragon's character looked 40+ years old throughout the whole movie.

  • I actually liked the movie. Admittedly though, I'm kind of a sucker for these kind of sword & sorcery epics.

  • This is a pretty good movie actually. The wind demon rocks!!

  • This movie just did a horrible job of following it's own time line, but I still can't wrap my head around how the main hero, Elio, manages to get locked in prison in full arms and armor for the 16 or so years it took his son to grow up, and no one knew he was alive.

  • The political skit is timeless! It's amazing how accurate is still is even today. This was one of the freakiest movies they ever Riffed. But Manos the Hands of fate still remains on the top of the list.

  • I love the opening skit. It shows just how much of a Tolkein fanboy Kevin Murphy is. Also, Mary Jo? Her real name. :D

  • Although, you may have meant the political satire skit, which is also brilliant.

  • analogkid01: You've done a man's job, sir!

Dominoes282: I assume you refer to the Ingmar Bergman skit, which is incredible.

  • Anyone else find the government sketch is suitable for what's going on right now? Hehe.

  • I never watched the movie, I came for the skit. 3x better than a SNL skit.

  • How did this show never win an Emmy?

  • Comment removed

  • Foghat prepares for war!

  • One of the neighbors from upstairs was played by the same actress who played Pearl, Im pretty sure. She was probably one of the writers or something.

  • @TheMerlinOfAR Yep, and the other one was Mike's wife another writer. They throw a number of crew in as these bit parts. A really good way to save some money.

  • "Grieve not, we do not part for long."

'I know. That's why I'm grieving.' One of the best lines in this. LOL!

  • ITT: Pissy comedy snobs with an undertone of conservative bitching.

  • The hills are alive!

    The hills are alive!

    The hills are alive!

50,000 Maria von Trapps face off against the Mongol horde!

  • Hold on. I'm having a montage.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Swedish Moses of soul!

The second host segment is so great: "But I'm a bunny! Hop. Hop. Hop."

(There are so many great riffs in this episode. I could just quote them all. =D )

  • So much focus on vague political speculation... Am I the only one concerned about Servo suggesting they cast fireballs at a Balrog?

  • @Arkiteref Yes...but I'm more concerned about the fact that Babylon 5 is being used as evidence of nerdiness. ...but I like Babylon 5! Oh, wait. I'm a nerd. :D

  • "He traded the sword for a lid and got high in the palace."

    Funniest. Line. Ever. :D

  • @msxeno Very much agreed!!!

  • Thanks, this is awesome! I love MST3K it's one of my favorite shows xD

  • SUPERCALIFAGILISTICEXPIALAWACKY!

If EVER MST3k is made into a musical, it MUST bare than name!

  • is it just me, or are every single one of these actors in The Day the Earth Froze?

  • It's a talented performer that can mask his politics in comedy work like this. An entertainer by nature needs to appeal to a wide audience. Sadly, in this country, if you reveal your politcs, you are often automatically dismissed as an enemy by half the country.

  • @str009 its also a sad commentary on this country when you realize that when MST3K came out, people on both sides of the political spectrum could laugh at the show.

  • this comment was removed by George Clinton

  • I was going to buy a dragon, but then i heered that obama and the rest of the socialist washington pukes had a 90% dragon tax hidden in obamacare and further that the commie EPA was going to ban dragons outright what with the carbon-warming dragon-breath thingy and plus dragon food down to the feed store is so dang expensive because all the corn goes to ethanol production and hope and change and now the muslims love us and the oceans are rising so I will fly my dragon to the moon so TAXTHERICH!

  • Man, I'm sorry to say my D&D group isn't much better...

  • Thank u

  • LOL, when you're out of slits, yopu're out of pier! classic!

  • Dwarf Fortress the Movie?

  • @Spiritplumber the hole point of having a dragon is to tell the world you have a dragon!WHY DID YOU KEEP IT A SECRET!!!

  • Hahaha.

Chill out, dude. It's not like 90% of modern comedy shows have a STRONG left bias or anything. At least this show isn't in your face about it. The way I see it, if this silly skit is as political as the show gets, they do a pretty darn good job at keeping their views to themselves.

  • BUNNY RICH!!!

  • 1:20:39

    Crow: Its Ghidrah!?

I said the exact same thing when I saw the dragon too.

  • @Andrewh313 Yes, it's a shame that Mike couldn't be more like other comedians: Janeane Garofalo, Will Ferrell, Matt Taibbi, John C. Reilly, Seth MacFarlane, Bill Maher, Al Franken, etc.........Give me Mike over those guys any day of the week.

  • @snipetracker

Yea... I just don't like him because he's an uber conservative.

    :S

  • @Andrewh313 lol you think mike is uber conservative wow i take it you never seen a real conservative,

  • @Andrewh313 You've judged Mike's political views based on a comedy skit, and decided based on that skit that you dislike him. Both of those decisions show great wisdom and maturity. I yield to your superior intelligence.

  • @jwchell

No you goober! He's admitted to being uber conservative in an interview. I'm not making this up. I poo-poo your comment!

  • Comment removed

  • @snipetracker You mean Janeane Garofalo, Will Ferrell, Matt Taibbi, John C. Reilly, Seth MacFarlane, Bill Maher, and Al Franken are comedians? And here I was thinking comedians were suppose to be funny. Go figure.

  • @s219016 I think you have to be far-left-minded when Bill Maher says "How about Bush?" and the entire crowd of 20,000 people roars with laughter (1992). Makes me feel I could be a stand-up comic: "We need some MRxL!!! MRxL MRxL MRxL!!!!!"

  • @snipetracker MIKE IS 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 TIMES BETTER THAN THOSE LAME ASS HAMS!

  • @Andrewh313 that's not right wing my friend that's the middle majority :) have you had a government job, as a teacher trust me they get it wrong more times then they get it right

  • @84MadHatter

    Mike Nelson:

"I read the National Review cover to cover. Check in at Townhall.com every day. Check the Washington Times daily. Listen to Dennis Prager and Michael Medved on a regular basis. Read Mark Steyn with regularity. Read the Weekly Standard. So, yes, I do vote Republican."

The government skit was right-wing, small-government claptrap.

  • @Andrewh313 Yeah, that may well be, but I think you are over-thinking it as far as the skit goes. I think it is a spoof of SKITS like this or independent theater pieces rather than a political commentary. It is a commentary on political commentary like this. That's how I view it, though the approach is certainly on conservative lines.

  • @rowsdowr2

Maybe... There was a time when only rich people were republicans. I imagine it's the rhetoric about the big, mean government taking away the working man's wage through taxes which make Republicans more and more appealing to the little guy. Too bad its the rich who get the best from these tax breaks, and the poor lose civil services. So sad :(

  • @Andrewh313 You must be a raving moron to seriously get offended by a vague comedy skit which mentioned a talking point of your political opponents that was probably aired around 1995 or 1996. You probably should take a deep breath and repeat to yourself it's just a show, you really should relax.

  • @Andrewh313 - Yeah, you missed the point of the sketch. It was a parody of the Capitol Steps and similar unfocused and stale political satirists. Hence the Mads treating it like biting satire despite the fact that they mostly just named things and made vague generalizations.

And since most of the writers for the show were liberal (especially Frank, as his facebook/twitter friends can attest), I think they and Mike managed to balance each other out pretty well.

  • @doggans

Thank you! I withdraw my comment.

  • @Andrewh313

From an independent-minded citizen: shut-up and enjoy the show. If you can't see past your own political ignorance, you should see a therapist! This is one of the most well-written comedy shows of all time, don't get all butt-hurt when you find out it isn't controlled by some bleeding heart douches that love driving its citizens into poverty.

  • @PazGuerro

You backwards conservatives are on the way out, buddy.

  • @Andrewh313

Hahaha nice, did your mother ever show you what a DICTIONARY was?? Go look up the word independent - fiscally conservative, socially liberal. This is the problem with our country, no one cares to LISTEN, and they can't see past their own ego that it isn't one party or the other, its BOTH OF THEM. Insulting the "conservatives" and praising the "liberals" is laughable and a bit depressing.

  • @84MadHatter Michael Medved isn't 'middle majority'.

  • @Andrewh313

Repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax"

  • @TheKyoput

    lol ok

    :)

  • @Andrewh313 I think you mean his common sense bias.

  • @TheSkunker

    Ok... now I'm upset again.

  • Thanks for putting this up! 5 Stars for you... not so many for this movie. XD

  • Well... i got to spread the plague, bye.

  • Believe it or not, the line "I'm Mike Wallace" during the narration about Invincor actually isn't a joke. I'm not sure if the Best Brains crew knew about it, but the narrator for the English version of this movie was in fact a pre-'60 Minutes' Mike Wallace.

  • This has my favorite host segment in it--the joke by Ingmar Bergman. Thank you for uploading!

    Kat

  • @historylover I love it, too. ...and I knew nothing about Ingmar Bergman, August Strindberg or Sven & Ole jokes. :)

  • So weird to see an MST3K movie with a big budget.

  • HOLY CRAP! a whole mst3k episode on ONE video?!!

your are a god among men 0_________0

  • "The Banjo becomes angry at midnight, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!"

  • I'm a crime bill BANG BANG

easily one of my favorite host segments ever!
