Somewhere along the way people lost sight of making music like this to touch the soul and only wanted the money. I know that is what people want more than anything but it still makes me sad inside knowing what we could have become without that material stuff.
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
Such a beautiful song, I had no idea in all these years that "The Dream Academy" produced this song as I always associated them with "Life In a Northern Town". This song put me in a better mood, took me back to a time when the world seemed less complicated and more hopeful.
Can anyone please post the song "The Edge of Forever" by Dream Academy? I just heard it last night while watching Ferris Bueller's Day Off. What a great song.
this song is so perfect and almost innocent that it would have to be created by Moz and Marr. 2 people that will have nothing to do with each other creating celestial perfection. EVERYTHING works with this song-it is perfect.
Hey where's there butt shaking scantily clad women and the pc or mac to help make their music?? How can you make music and/or a video without those things?
I agree too to graveland. These days today its full of pseudo stars. Too much lauzy casting shows. The music in the 80's was handmade. Soul and heart made.
This bumm bumm sounds today giving to feedback. Even the classical stuff, which survived hundred of years, is much better than techno.
I'm sure I said it once and will again-the 1980's might be mocked nowadays-BUT the music during that time was better than anything I've ever heard since.
I agree. Funny how people will mock it and laugh at it when the artists songs of today usually rely on some beat used by a song in the 80's. Mainly in R&B
@gravelandgrain100 you are so right! The music these days are crap. They remade the "We are the world" and added the most untalented musicians in the last segment....total b.s.!!!!!
Hard to get. Only released on DA's Japanese CD of greatest hits, and on a US CD called "Sedated in The Eighties Vol 4"(I think it was). The instrumental was on an available CD called "Boutique Chill Out".

yes, i sincerely agree, Kate St. John was frankly beautiful back then... oh to capture the 80's Youth and Simplicity and to have Basil paint them on a Canvas, all the while, we could watch the Painting whither while we remain entombed back in our Youth.

Beautiful song. The voices and instrumentation are fantastic and who would have thought something as mournful as an oboe would sound so perfectly right in a 'pop' song?
Had never heard this beautiful tune 'til I recently saw a girl's slideshow here on YouTube. Didn't even realise it was a cover version of a Smiths track.
This version has a definate nod to "AMERICA" by Simon & Garfunkel and also to a classical tune though I can't for the life of me which one but................it's the one which Debbie Harry & Chris Stein based "SOUND-A-SLEEP" on and many others have before & since.
Wow. This sends me right back. I knew this version before the Smiths'. I loved this band! It's even more plaintive, less ironic, than Morrissey's. Thanks so much beta for posting.
I'd have to agree that the song isn't quite the same with lyrics.
I managed to get the entire song without the lyrics, like in F. Beulers Day Off.
Click my name, and you'll see it under the film called Emotions. I made a small film to go with the music. Because personally, to me, it's one of the most moving instrumental pieces I have heard in a long time.
Some parts of this song is great, but some of it is kinda cheesy (the singing) compared to the original version. the best parts of it were used in the Ferris Bueller movie, I think. Maybe because there wasn't any singing in it.
This is a good band and an instance where a cover song betters the original. I remember fondly sitting in my buddies room when we were teenagers and his having their record lying on the floor, brings back memories. I love that album cover from their first album.
Wow. Sigh. I remember buying the Dream Academy's first video in '86 - this was on it, and the videos for the songs 'Love Parade', 'This World' and 'Life in a Northern Town'. Seeing Nick look THAT young surely sheds 20 years from my own skin. Thanks for posting...

It is up on youtube. Just enter any of the title information I listed in the search box at the top or bottom of the page, click on search, and the Victoria Field Trip listing will come up.
