The incinerate didnt killt he goyf o.O there was "instant, sorcery, creature" in the graveyard the time the state based effects are checked again... and the goyf is 3/4 o.O fail
@TheDoomToaster Not true. He did it in response to the Primal Command, and state based effects would get checked before the Primal Command resolved to go to the graveyard. It would only be a 2/3, and would die to the lethal damage.
I know it's like nails on a chalkboard for most people. I never get brave enough to ask why they do it so often. On that topic putting a deck sideways is just a stupid way to make yourself feel better, because it doesn't change anything.
BottledFairie, actually, putting your deck sideways makes it easier to draw, and less likely that your opponent will accidentally see the card you draw.
Well, that's an odd insecurity, I've never had that problem in my life. Whatever, it's their preference, and I've changed my opinion over sideways decks over the last 5 months, it's understandable.
Have you ever been in a stressful situation and rocked back and forth or side to side or cracked your knuckles or any other distraction? How bout playing in the finals for a large cash prize? lol. I find myself doing this at FNM... I couldn't imagine how hardcore it would be at Nationals.
@canman87 Its a psych technique. You use it to distract your opponent. Your opponent is busy looking at your twitching and not focusing on his cards. All the while your leading him into a false conclusion of your nervousness.
oh, it was a gouger, i couldnt tell the light was always on the card lol. but the better move would of been keeping the pendlehaven untapped rather than a forest. agreed?
its not only nerds that play MTG the "cool" people play to i should know becuase thats realy all they talk about even thought there "cool" i hate that sterietype
My point is that it wasn't clear. I couldn't tell what card he flashed, and I assumed out of habit that the 3 mana removal for colossus was a javelin.
I found it a bit confusing without basic card identification. I could've sworn that black's turn 2 play was a goyf, but when Jacobs javelined the colossus, black didn't block the 2/2 figure with his 2 drop, which would've been 2/3 if it had been a goyf.
As for the play, I think it was correct. Jacobs had board dominance and was spending his burn removing blockers. Black's only way back in the game was colossus, and if Jacobs had the burn to dome him/remove it, he'd lost anyway.
>_> I didn't have any trouble at all following the match... My only wish is for life totals though. I'm to lazy to follow somebody else's damage intake. lol
Yeah, Sam could have made all kinds of stuff to prevent dying or even killing figure of destiny, but he didn't. Also he could have played his vanquisher before the boreal druid, but he also didn't... Better luck next time Sam!
the slapping of cards got ot you too? i hate people that do that constantly...makes you want to punch a baby...or the player shuffling, whichever's closer
If he didn't use Pendelhaven to play the Vanquisher/Llanowar he would have been able to pump the llanowar to kill the Figure of Destiny so it wouldn't have been attacking. Clearly the misplay of the game lol.
i wanted life totals on there that would have helped because it seemed like it just ended out of no where he gave up and i was like whoa!? i guess he was low on life which makes me wonder why he didnt gain 7 life on the mode with primal command. but who knows? he is still a way better player than i am but i think if it was him redoing that play he would have gained the 7
He gave up because he only had nonbasic lands in play. His opponent played Magus of the Moon which made every land he had a mountain. He didn't draw a slaughter pact to kill it off, so that was the game.
i know what happened i just didnt know what his life total was, and that is why i was explaining why he prolly shud have gained 7 life off primal command if he was low on life, thats why i wanted to see life totals because the scoop was a surprise to me.
You are right. At the Primal Command he was well under 10 life. He clearly misplayed. I mean, when you are at burn range, you gain the 7 life, you search for the Finks that in this scenario would have gotten him 4 more life, and then hold off attacking because in his position, he has no way to race, unless he can get himself out of lethal damage range. Playing Boreal Druid was not a bad play since, despite taking 1 from the painland, he could block the Ashenmoor Gouger and prevent 4 damage.
lol a 0/1 Tarmogoyf.

Shuffling your hand at all times is a tactic too make sure your oponent dosent loose track of your hand. Dumbass..

He didn't block FoD w/ the wayfinder when FoD it was 2/2..

Jacob had three mountains untapped, enough to pump the Figure to 4/4, and Black didn't want to needlessly lose his Wayfinder.

Why didn't he block with the goyf when the 2/2 swung?
Chameleon and Flame Javelin were in the graveyard.
Goyf = 2/3
Kithkin = 2/2
Hmm....
StoneThrowingDevil 3 years ago
he could have made the figure a 4/4
agdstardust 3 years ago
The Goyf was 1/2 because the monored guy killed the Goyf with the creture with the evoke to deal 6 damage to him not with a Flame Javelin.
DONID4rk0 3 years ago
at 3.20 why is tarmogoyf and wayfinder doing 3 when a colossus and a javelin are in graveyard?
tom0198 3 years ago
The Tarmogoyf is actually 1/2 (it's a Spitebellows not a flame javelin)

Jacobs evoke a Spitebellows so Goyf was 1/2 and no 2/3.
