my dad built a 85 volvo wagon a 740 and put a 93 mustang 5.0L in it great conversions! at the moment we have built a 89 bmw 550i with a 5.0L mustang engine as well SCREAMERS!!
It's a 79' Cobra block(ford 302 bored to 306), Keith Black pistons and mhale file fit rings, lunati cam, that was recently changed to a voo doo(but not run yet), 94' GT iron heads with hand lapped valve job, and trick flow springs(soon to be upgraded)...It runs hi 13's with passengers in the car....Full spool rear end...C4 trans with some upgrades, TCI converter....Havn't hit the NOS since the rebuild OR been to the track....Have a 454 sitting here to install next!!!
no doubt you WILL love it....be prepared to custom fabricate some stronger mounts for the tranny crossmember.....I RIPPED all teh bolts out of the frame shifting into 2nd while on the NOS....onyl reason I could drive it home was thanks to dual exhaust holding the crossmember up hi enough to keep the u-joints from binding...but you could feel the tranny bouncing up and down, shaking the car, the whole way home form teh track......
Hate to burst your bubble, but it's pretty easy to make a stock Volvo redblock engine turn 13's...and a hell of a lot cheaper than that engine cost you. haha. Cool car though! I'm doing 13.8's with a 204,000 mile SOHC 8V, stock head and block. :)
not busting my bubble....I obviously wasn't insterested in working with the stock motor....then the car would just be a volvo....now it's unique......AND fast. =)
I hope to get the funding together to build this big block I have here....
